Of course you can't take play money seriously, how can you? It holds no value if it doesn't cost you anything. That's why I don't play play money poker, no rules apply so why should you pay?

I don't personally, but probably it would have benefits for beginners to play more responsibly.

I took play money serious at first. Once I started to do freerolls I stopped with the play money. It is only good as preschool to freerolls.

I did at one time. When I first started playing I got my ass burned pretty good. Watched some videos, learned how to play and took it back to PokerStars for practice. Now no, absolutely not, strictly slinging chips.

They are only good for those who have never played and want to familiarize themselves with the game, understand the hands better, understand which hands are most promising. That is, just the math part of the game. Then, the ideal is to go to the freerolls and micro limits...

Well i am a new poker player right now, and i only play CC freeroll tournaments and i never deposit money, atleast not for now. So i do take them seriosly, although not that much. The reason i take them seriously is because i want to learn the ins and outs of poker starting with the easiest tables.

no rules apply...except for those that govern all games of poker regardless of pay or play.

Actually it is. There is only way to play a specific game of poker, one set of rules.

People play golf (or any other sport) seriously as amateurs. No one walks around saying only golf played by PGA professionals 'is golf'. That comparison might be a stretch but...

...whether or not anyone enjoys playing poker with play chips is one matter, but the game is exactly the same game whether using dollars or play chips.

Actually it isn't.. and it's not even close.

Your golf comparison would be accurate if you were to say
real money poker is to PGA Golf
as
play chips is to mini-putt.

I don't think you're even in a position to suggest that play chip & real $ are one and the same. I mean how can you give an opinion without experiencing it?

So I am all ears. Please explain the different rules governing play chip poker and cash poker.

And mini-golf (I believe that is what you meant) is a silly comparison as we are not talking eighteen holes played on a course are we? The more apt comparison would be the high roller claiming that low stakes were being played with different rules to make some patronizing point.

You seem insecure - not just about what constitutes 'manly' poker but the need to diminish me. Once again, I have been open about my entry to the game and building bankrolls after joining CC by playing free rolls. You are obviously striving to embarrass me with your put downs but all you do is expose yourself as (for all your life in poker and apparent seniority) rather petty.

I honestly don't get it. Isn't the entire thrust of Cards Chat to bring people into the game with a helping hand and warm embrace?
