No, not seriously. I don't risk my money, so I don't value the game stack. Every time I go ollin to pull a bluff)))

It's good for trying out something but not more, best is when you play against "Bots" with play money,
because they play there straight game.

I take all poker games seriously, Sure there are players who do not, but you can take advantage of these players when you have a good hand and knock them out early.
Poker is a game with many different players, some will fool around even in small stake games because they do not mind losing small amounts of money, it is all relative to what you think is money worth winning, or you really don't care one way or another.
Playing any game seriously is all about winning, whether it is for money, point's or matchsticks, it really does not matter to me, Winning is the only thing that matters, but saying that, I still don't dwell on it, or lose my temper when I lose, If you play well and don't mind losing game after game, each time you play, you can learn something new about how you play yourself, and improving on your playing style.
The hardest part of winning against a player who doesn't take the game seriously is the fact they are unpredictable! and do occasionally suck-out on other, better players, and just because they do strike lucky shoving all-in with 7/2 off, and hitting a boat or flush, does not make them a good player, only a lucky S0aB!
This in itself makes them think they are a good player, when the fact remains they are just lucky, and better players will beat them eventually with skill!

When the fun Stops, STOP!

You have to hone your skill and to me that's the best way. Play as it is real money,

I rarely play for playmoney, I always play as seriously as possible.

I find it very unfair to other players to get into a free game and fool around.

Play Money games I can't play for real. Firstly, the other players don't play seriously, so there's no way to use it as a basis for study, real money players will play differently, that's for sure. And there is no sense of satisfaction in winning a play money tournament. That's my point of view, but because I don't play with play money since the defunct Everest Poker.

I like PM for trying out games I'm not so good at or experienced with, like Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo, Short Deck, etc.

Often I sit in at Paymoney tables when I'm about to have dinner in 10 minutes, or just killing time before going out.

I'm so hardcore that I almost always take play money games seriously. It's so frustrating though that it drives me to strongly dislike playing in them at all. Once in awhile I will play them just top implement "experimental strategies" to see how they do.

I always play seriously, regardless of whether it is a game for money or freerolls, I see no reason to play not seriously;)

Glad to revert to the tail end of the thread and see sensible and positive replies. As with most things in life I believe if you take certain types of play seriously you can get a lot out of the experience

So regarding pokerstars I seldom if ever play any play chip ‘cash’ games as they are invariably a ludicrous gamble fest. However the MTTs are entirely different. Get past the initial wild-ish phase and the tourneys settle into serious play. Make a deep run and the games are very competitive.

Better still join Replay poker and experience serious players from the off. I have noted a few times that Replay saved me when I was in the beginning stages of learning poker at PokerStars. I was trying to play cash games at PS and it was an utter farce, so I switched to Replay and it changed my outlook 100%. As broad a spectrum of games as any real money site, leagues, rewards, player rankings etc. Additionally they have community free rolls to help you build a bankroll to enter the ‘buy-in’ tournaments etc.

Replay has a huge membership and numerous regulars who play on a daily basis. If you want to utilize a play chip practice environment then Replay would be my first recommendation.

I agree with many comments from people of this thread. I don't take it seriously because you don't get that buzz and it kind of feels meaningless. With this said, it shouldn't be that way because you have the opportunity to practice and get better for when you play for real.

Going to go with the consensus here and say that it is definitely good practice. Other than that though, I really don't play them at all.

I have taken them very seriously and I managed to build quite a huge bankroll in a very short period of time. Particularly heads-up. People don’t usually take it seriously and that gave me an edge.

Obviously, not worth my time but every now and then I jump into PS or 888 chips and win some for the fun of it. Never lost, even when I tried my best.

Playing serious for play money is what actually introduced & attracted me into all the other variants of poker.

Seriously? Not really.

But since I can't afford putting lots of money into poker I still play a lot of play money.

Not the same dynamics though.

But if you go on higher takes people take it a little more serious.
