I don't really play with play money, if you are going to take poker seriously avoid them.

I take them seriously because I started playing tournaments to compete. In the past I have competed in small bore rifle and sporting clays, where the "payout" for success was a trophy, a plaque, a pin, or just a pat on the back and congratulations for doing well. That's not to say I don't enjoy winning money in a poker tournament, but the winning and having my accomplishment recognized by my peers is much more important to me. :)
same here ;) and I saw your trophy in your accolades ;)
I believe you will add many more during your time here :)
although it feels a little vain I strive for them

Thanks for pointing that out. I never realized that there was such a thing here and I went and found it. I'm not sure how I did in that but we Baby Boomers definitely did well in the Battle of the Generations. :)

I believe you will add many more during your time here :)
Thank you for the nice compliment, I am definitely going to be trying. :)

It is not vain at all, because all games are based upon people wanting to win. I know that with your attitude you will be very successful. :)

Although I almost don't play them anymore, when I play usually make more bluff etc, I don't really treat them the same way, but always with "some goal", otherwise it wouldn't make sense

Sure. Otherwise it is impossible. If you learn to play small tournaments seriously, you will also play large ones.

No, I don't take freerolls seriously. If others did, I might, but depending on who is at the table I might play semi-seriously or try to bust or double and get the heck out.

I could never get myself to play there. For me, the point of poker is to play for real stakes. I don't think free money tables are good for practice either, no one takes the game there seriously.
Freerolls are perfect for practice, it is true that it can be good for building self-confidence.

Back when I played them, I took them seriously, but they are not really good for practise so I stopped using them once I started to play 2nl.

Yes, I do. The challenge is to be good enough to dodge the bombs and win.

Curious to know...Do you take playmoney games serious? Or are they simply a way to play like you don't care? I sometimes find myself playing them more seriously than real freeroll games or micro-stakes.

Generally, I use them for practice, but sometimes they are the I DO NOT CARE what happens game...come to think of it...so are those cash games from time to time.

Sometimes FULL TILT happens no matter where you are.

Hope it is not on the bubble or in a big cash game.

I only play play money when I have friends, food, drinks and fun. :D

Play money is similar to play freerolls, both of them are low cost and small return to players.

The begin players of poker maybe more serious to play it. and it really useful to them.

If some one just play for fun, it's good tool, too.

I use it as practicing. For example when I’m running bad and experience loss in the day I play, play money. Or sometimes just for fun.

Play money poker isn't poker....

Actually it is. There is only way to play a specific game of poker, one set of rules.

People play golf (or any other sport) seriously as amateurs. No one walks around saying only golf played by PGA professionals 'is golf'. That comparison might be a stretch but...

...whether or not anyone enjoys playing poker with play chips is one matter, but the game is exactly the same game whether using dollars or play chips.

What if you wouldn't take CC league seriously either :hmmmm2:

This is impossible, because in the league I play not only for myself, but also for my teammates !!! When I play in the league, all other tournaments fade into the background !!!

I was bored playing such a game when I started playing poker. Play money is boring and a waste of time.

I see poker as a profession

Good morning everyone, yes I take online poker very seriously, I am fully aware that poker can bring great returns.
I used to withdraw almost all the money I earn, the correct way is to always leave value in your bankroll and as your bankroll grows play Mtts with higher values.
I won a ticket on a twitch live, and I played a Mtt Championchip on 888poker , a $50 ticket, where I had over 8,000 players and I finished in 96 position and won $800, which I will keep to invest in my game.
The course I play at micro limits, where I'm profitable more without great results and when I play Mtts with higher values I have good results, Mtt I played from the beginning thinking about getting only on day 2 I thought it was a $50 Mtt, the players are better than me, since the beginning I was gaining chips and to my surprise I finished day 1 in 6th place in Mtt on day 1 and in 106th overall, on day 2 I had 1400 players and from 1000th onwards I already guaranteed $100, I thought about folding all hands to guarantee at least $100, but once again the game came on the 3rd hand I caught KK on the BB and villain with 10blinds goes All in, I won this hand and I was winning and the players were falling very fast and when there were 120 players left in hands, which is easy and I folded to guarantee more prizes, there was a hand that a villain with 10BB from the CO, goes All in and another player called me with 18BB from the BB with 99 fold and 2 players with with AQ, I stopped doubling my stack to secure more prizes, my last hand it wasn't 44 a villain with a lot of chips All on the SB or BTN and hero on the BB I weighed a lot and called with 7BB and villain with 97s on the river hits 9, but there's no way to complain I had 0.03 cents in my 888poker account and I won $800 , biggest prize to date.
