GGPoker Site Review
GGPoker has quickly become one of the very biggest poker sites around, boasting huge numbers of players, massive prize pools and innovative gameplay features. Our GGPoker review takes an expert and unbiased look at whether this online poker site is worth your time, and most importantly, your money!
Launching in 2017, GGPoker took only a few years to achieve what was once thought unthinkable in the online poker world and overtook PokerStars as the site with the most cash game players! Deals with high-profile players such as Daniel Negreanu soon followed, as did exclusive deals to send GGPoker players to the WSOP.
The result is that GGPoker has become one of the most successful, and visible, poker sites around. But what’s in it for you? Read on to find out.
Is GGPoker Safe to Play? Security & Player Safety
Before even exploring the range of games offered, the usability of the software or the number of opponents you can find, our very first consideration is that any poker site we would play on is fully licensed and regulated wherever it operates. All player funds should be segregated and kept in a completely separate account from operating capital, and the random number generator (RNG) used to create a fair game should be independently verified.
We’re glad to report that these concerns are quickly dispelled when it comes to GGPoker, which holds licenses from the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission and the UK Gambling Commission, and has a fully audited RNG – the certificate is even viewable on the site itself.
GGPoker also features a suite of responsible gaming tools, to ensure players have control over their own deposits and game access.
GGPoker Software
GGPoker are doing a lot to entice the ‘casual’ crowd of recreational poker players, and one look at the number of players online will tell you that it’s working! However, in trying to create a broad appeal the design of the software is so crowded, colorful and noisy that the Lobby itself can actually be difficult to navigate. Hosting poker tournaments in different currencies – with certain tournaments aimed specifically at players in Asia, for example – can also be confusing to newcomers.

The GGPoker lobby is colorful, but busy.

The GGPoker lobby is colorful, but busy.
Novelty features, such as being able to ‘squeeze’ your hole cards to view them, or having dramatic music accompany an all-in, can be fun at first but are likely to lose their appeal for players who play for more than a few minutes at a time. Luckily, these features can be switched off in the settings.
But some other features that are more likely to keep experienced players sticking around include an in-built heads-up display (hover over a player to see useful session stats), as well as a handy guide to a player’s outs when they’re all-in and cards are turned face-up – just like you’d see on TV. You can even set up your on-screen graphics to be optimized for streaming your play online.

Streamer Mode enables players to control which tables are visible, hide their balance, and more.

GGPoker Mobile Play
With its overall casual-friendly design, it’s unsurprising that GGPoker offers an easy and fluid experience on mobile, whether on Android or iOS. Design choices such as a vertical table orientation and a vertically-sliding bar to size your raises mean it’s easy to play with just one hand, while next-to-none of the options of the desktop client are off-limits to mobile players.
However, just like the desktop experience, the mobile app’s Lobby can be confusing to navigate. Again, it is crammed with color and bold, cartoony icons and it can be hard at first to find exactly what you’re looking for. ‘Less is more’ is not the design philosophy at GGPoker!
Games and Options
When it comes to different poker variants, GGPoker has pretty much gone all-in on Texas Hold’em and Omaha, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a wealth of gameplay options available to its players. These range from the classic formats you’ll find on most online poker sites, to fresher options you’ll only find at GGPoker.
Cash Games
24/7 classic cash games are available in Texas Hold’em, Omaha and 6+ Short Deck (a variation of Texas Hold’em, using no cards ranked five or below).
Tournaments
A full schedule of multi-table tournaments (MTTs) are on offer, as well as All-in Or Fold tournaments, Spin & Golds (Sit & Go’s with randomized prize pools), and Flip & Go’s – a combination of the two, where an all-in or fold first phase is followed by second phase tourneys that start every hour. The site also offers mystery bounty tournaments, which are a relative rarity at online poker rooms, but lots of fun to play.
Surprisingly, unlike many competitors GGPoker does not offer Sit & Go tournaments.
Rush & Cash
GGPoker’s version of fast-fold cash games has the added incentive of random chip drops occasionally added to the pot, each worth 10-600 big blinds!
Battle Royale
A format unique to GGPoker, Battle Royales are 30-player progressive bounty tourneys that have three distinct phases:
- The ‘Rush Zone’ is played as a fast-fold game, with progressive bounties awarded for each elimination. After 15 minutes, any player ranked 16th or higher is automatically knocked out.
- The ‘Shootout Zone’ sees the remaining players placed on 3-Max tables, with the winner of each table progressing to the final round. After five minutes, all players are automatically placed all-in on every hand.
- The Final Table is played as a regular Hold’em bounty tournament, with all five players automatically in the money when play begins.
Club GGPoker, Bonuses and Promotions
GGPoker features numerous tournament series with high guarantees and big fields – in fact, in 2020 GGPoker broke the world record for the largest prize pool in any online poker tournament, with over $27 million paid out in a single tourney.
You’ll find regular big money events such as Million$ and Super Million$, with start times particularly well suited to players in Asia, available on a regular basis, while online qualifiers for the WSOP in Las Vegas can usually be played in regulated countries outside the USA.
The GGPoker welcome bonus is also a particularly generous one, as well as one that usually puts you in the driver’s seat when it comes to how you want to receive it, for example as a matched bonus or a selection of free tickets. See above for the very latest offer.
One thing we love is the GGPoker Fish Buffet. This loyalty program rewards regular players with a choice: spin the bonus wheel for prizes, or receive regular fixed rakeback. The end result is a great balance which appeals to recreational and professional players alike.

Players can collect points through play to progress through the levels for more benefits.

One other thing we really love is Bubble Protection: register for a tournament before it begins, and you’ll be eligible to get your stake back if you finish on the bubble! You can also opt-in to Spin & Gold Insurance, where you’ll get your stake back every time the random prize pool pays out the minimum. ‘GGCares’ and ‘GGCheers’, meanwhile, are social media-based initiatives where players can share bad beats or big wins to get rewarded with freeroll opportunities
Finally, Club GGPoker is a separate app that allows players across the world to play for free, without offering real money games.
History & Background
Following its launch in April 2017, GGPoker quickly acquired a reputation for innovative and action-packed gameplay features. Poker superstar Daniel Negreanu joined up in 2019 as the face of the brand, and when the 2020 WSOP was moved online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, GGPoker was one of the places where it was played. 54 WSOP bracelets were awarded on GGPoker that summer, and the site has continued to be closely aligned with the WSOP, hosting international satellites for the WSOP in Las Vegas.
The site has gone from strength to strength, adding numerous poker ambassadors right across the world, from the USA to China, Brazil, Finland, Romania, Japan, Ukraine and beyond.
Overtaking PokerStars as the online poker site with the most player traffic saw GGPoker cement its place as a major player in the global game.
Deposits and Withdrawals
As a fully regulated operator, GGPoker requires all new players to complete identity and address verification via uploads of official documentation. Once this process is complete, players are able to make deposits and withdrawals using an array of payment methods. Depending on your location, these may include PayPal, bank cards, Neteller, Skrill, Astropay and more.
Deposits are instant for verified players, while withdrawals take longer due to the approval process (24-72 hours) and processing time (1-5 working days). Note that withdrawals can only be made to a payment methods that has been used to deposit.

Customer Support
A detailed FAQ section contains the answers to many common questions, while an email address enables players to send queries direct to Customer Support.
Support via Live Chat is an advertised feature on the GGPoker website, but when we tried it as part of our review process we found it unavailable, which was a big disappointment. Telephone support is not available.
Conclusion
Big tournaments, lots of games and plenty of players are all important considerations when choosing the best online poker site to play at, and these are certainly in evidence at GGPoker. However, this site has even more to recommend it.
Gameplay innovations like Battle Royales or Flip & Go’s add fun new ways to play, and the site even features a built-in staking platform for players who wish to sell their action.
The only downsides we saw during our extensive testing was the lack of Sit & Go’s as a tournament option, as well as a noisy and overcrowded Lobby that can be difficult to navigate at first.
As a fully regulated and licensed operator, players should have no qualms about depositing and playing at GGPoker, while the site’s fun and innovative approach is sure to keep them coming back for more!
