In my opinion, to be a successful poker player you need desire, a good IQ and a decent amount of money.

I play poker mostly as a hobby, but a successful player requires solid skills in reading opponents, strategy and bankroll management. You must have the ability to make decisions under pressure. And patience, a lot of patience.:ROFLMAO:

For me, a poker player, to be successful, must have a lot of emotional control and patience to endure certain events in the game. If the player is carried away by emotion, he doesn't have much of a future in Poker.

Money, Money, Money, what else is there. Be the best in the world but if you do not make money what is the point. Who cares how, luck or skill it all comes down to what is in your pocket.

I think in order to become a successful poker player from scratch, you need to start with theory, learn all the percentages and the pot's chances. Watch high-quality training videos, find yourself a good poker coach and then just get on to practice. Yes, it can take a long time, but in the future, if you really want to do it, it will bring you results. It is also very important to develop discipline and be able to adapt to different opponents and different situations at the tables...

Your effort and dedication to poker. One of the great Brazilian players, Yuri Dzivielevski, says the following phrase “studying is lucky”. Many people think that poker is a game of luck, but there is a lot of research that proves this view wrong. So in my opinion, to become a great player, you need to study and practice in a way committed to your goal.

by winning, you mean money right? So if you go solely on money, thats easy, a good poker player knows when he is beat and knows when he has the nuts, therefore he should make a lot of money.

Successful poker players typically possess a combination of strategic thinking, emotional control, patience, and a deep understanding of the game. Skill in reading opponents, adapting to different playing styles, and managing bankroll are also crucial for long-term success.

I think skills are more important for a successful player. And I would also add statistics here. We are not insured against failure, and luck is a nice bonus in case of our mistakes, it's like a second chance at success. But the ability to not make mistakes based on individual statistics for each player is, I think, the key to success in serious tournaments.

If poker was based on luck, like a casino, there would be no winning players. Only poker rooms and casinos would benefit.

For MTTs I would say that the main factor is patience. Also knowing or suspecting when you are behind, and then to fold. This will save you being knocked out. In MTTs you will need a run of cards, skill can only take you so far. As they say if you get to a final table then you have played well. If you win a tournament outright, then you have also had a bit of the rub of the green.

skill helps, but if all the other players are also skilled, the only thing left is luck
