I think skills are more important for a successful player. And I would also add statistics here. We are not insured against failure, and luck is a nice bonus in case of our mistakes, it's like a second chance at success. But the ability to not make mistakes based on individual statistics for each player is, I think, the key to success in serious tournaments.

If poker was based on luck, like a casino, there would be no winning players. Only poker rooms and casinos would benefit.

For MTTs I would say that the main factor is patience. Also knowing or suspecting when you are behind, and then to fold. This will save you being knocked out. In MTTs you will need a run of cards, skill can only take you so far. As they say if you get to a final table then you have played well.
