I think 50/50 - luck and skill. And the more skill, the less luck is required.

I don't remember who it was, but someone sued the federal government and won his case proving that it is a game of skill.

Leans more towards luck in the short term IMO. If you are able to take the pain and put in the volume then good players will have an edge. That's just faith in the math tho. If you can win flips, get dealt good cards, make hands against ATC players and beat Ax with AK at a profitable rate, you'll do well. If you can't then you won't.

in my opinion, it is necessary to combine these two concepts. and only after a good result is possible.

Um, I think this needs a link to an article. I'd be interested in reading it.

100% LUCK. No skill required if you are a fish on ACR. Just pray for a miracle and you will win millions. Just ask the USA players on there.

I think that in most cases everything depends on Mastery, than on the chances, if you are an experienced player, and you know how to act in a certain period of time, then your Mastery, not chances, will help you.

I think it's more skill, strategy than luck.

Thanks for the read @purple714.

I changed my luck/skill percentages. I think it's safe to say that it varies proportionally to the buy-in. High stakes - 70% skill 30% luck. Low stakes, the opposite. Reasoning behind it is that on low staked, real newbies confuse it with slots or BINGO and if it's a 10h table with 5 newbies, one of them will bite you even if you play premium hands.

The other scenario is on FFA freerolls (like the 25k player tourneys on PS). That's 90% luck and 10% skill until you get In the Money. After that, it depends on the prizes if it's 70/30 or 30/70.

If there's someone who doesn't agree with me, I'd like to know why.

Exception: The micro machines and patient rats, but they are a different class of players who don't mind playing 5h/hour.

In any sport there is good luck, but in poker most of it falls on strategy and experience

Definitely is a game of skill! A well thought out strategy combined with the study of various world tactics yields results. Although in online poker, much luck decides: firstly how lucky you are to play with adequate people at the table, secondly the cards

if it is a game of strategy and skill, there is also some luck, as in all things, but skills can not win and be successful

Of course, the poker game is a strategy and tactics, but you have to have a little luck, luck is important to me in tournaments where you have several thousand players and you do not know enough to tactic them, as we have here at CC where we already know who is playing and easier to get into the game.

skill in poker is a pledge of victory, but do not forget about fortune, sometimes it's not your side

The game itself is chance, like most card games, but only skill will bring you long term profits playing it professionally. Anyone can get lucky their first time out knowing nothing but they'll eventually lose those winnings unless they develop some skills to maintain their bankroll. That's what making a living with it is about, not winning a hand but maintaining and growing a bankroll over a reasonable period of time.
Luck may be part of any given hand and game, but it's a very small factor in producing a profit. The psychological endurance and ability to know your outs and pot odds is far more valuable.

I completely agree. Often the result depends entirely on luck))))) Or half)))

The good thing about poker is that there is a big deal of both things, but I think that in order to be a successful player in the long run, you have to rely more on skills and less on luck.

Poker is a game of skill, with a big dollop of luck thrown in. To be a winning player long term you need to be able to figure odds and outs quickly and accurately. You also need to be able to read people at the table. You also need the ability to manage your bankroll and temprement. The luck element plays a large part in the short term, but you can't win long term without the neccassary skills.
You're rigth and need some physical skills to be able for the long seasons.
