Its all about the hot seat and the cold seat, where the software places ya is the only 'random' part about it.

I play online poker only on room that Cardschat promote.
I don't know how card dealing can be rigged with the using of random number generator.

absolutely true. either only reliable online poker or carefully monitoring other places in order to avoid scammers. the best indicator has always been people. in general online poker I trust PS BCP and 888. There I think there is a struggle for the quality of online poker

It would be nice if these sites provided somewhat detailed assurances of how they are combating bots and cheaters.

Without providing specifics that help the scammers, of course.

I just feel skittish about giving money to a site that is silent on the topic; that isn't demonstrating that they recognize that it can be a thing and that they are working to not let it happen with their site.

rigged(or-not)

If you play enough hands (well), anything is possible, even one-outers. That is why for the most part anybody can win (even those 2% chance rivers). They make more than enough money without rigging... now, player collusion... Or bots... totally different story, but people cheat with anything.

if the rng is the same for all I can't see how it can be rigged, of course though I don't think you can say it is or not rigged, there have been scandals where insiders of companies saw the cards of other players. But I don't think it is rigged overall I just think most players naturally will have issues with bankroll management because poker naturally can swing extremes combined with emotions is a bad mix. Probably like all things in life though only 1% or less of players can actually be the best and usually the best tend to take from that 99% just like the best athletes, writers, reporters, politicians, etc.

I have an illusion that there is an action generator that helps a weaker hand to win (bad beat, suck out) more often than predicted by statistics.

I've made a thread once about the funny RNG of pokerstars on river cards. Its moved to rigged megathread:D:D

While I have in the back of my mind some conspiracy theories, I cant really say I believe that online poker is rigged. At least not more than live poker. We know true cheating stories from both live and online. Its a matter of reputation as the article says, so it depends. And if it was really that simple, I guess full tilt could just cheat all the players without them knowing a thing and there would be no black friday.

Yes, it is.

Definitely feels that way sometimes.
I've been feeling that way about certain rooms lately, but I'm starting to think it's specific to game type. One site I came to hate, but still play on seems to have very fair SNGs but horrible odds in Cash games. But my main room now has horrible STT but really good Cash tables and MTTs.
Anybody with similar thoughts?

I believe online Poker is safe once you play at one of the respectable and trusted big name site. The big brand name sites invest a lot of resources in security. Online Poker may not be safe on those small shady sites.
My theory is that you see and play way more hands online so you see more beats online rather than live.

Also poker players have very selective memories they tend to only remember the beats they take and not the beats they dish out themselves.

It is interesting to see so much information that supports the poker rooms and tells us that it is impossible for a famous poker room to dare to cheat.
So the important thing would be to choose a regulated room and thus avoid possible fraud.
But they are not going to tell me that when we go through a rough patch, even though we know that there is no fraud, it is always going to cross our mind the option that happened something hahaha.

I don't believe that top poker sites are rigged. We all have bad beats and strings of good luck as well. This is normal. People tend to think that they see more bad instead of good, things are better for certain players that do certain things, or something of that nature. Just remember that you play so many more hands online that it can be very easy to view things a certain way or even you see more great things happen. It really is the number of hands you play.

Anyway, best of luck to everyone!

If I win: I did well
If I lose: It's rigged
Easy, first law of psychology!

Sadly, for sure individuals are trying to cheat (based on proof from the past, including site employees and poker pro's).
Limiting to online sites rigged? This is extremely unlikely for the reputable sites, but is less unlikely with the other sites. The rigging can be done with the cards, but also with any other aspect of online game (blocking account/funds, auto logout, etc.)
Limiting to 'the cards', if it's rigged, long term statistics should show that:
- all possible card combinations occur the same number of times
- the next hand does not at all depend on the current hand or past hands
The above are the minimum requirement of a Random Number Generator.
I've not seen any proof, either for rigged, or for non-rigged.
Even most sites hide in marketing smoke screens and stop at 'it is certified' (which is very questionable in terms of proof).

I have hit the case jack I needed on the river and won. It was the only card I could win with so I cant say that it has been all bad. I imagine the opponent thought it was rigged in my favor.

I won an $8 tournament on Stars but never anything that cost more. I have had success winning two trips into tournaments in Barcelona and Monaco though a now defunct poker site. I havent played online poker in several years so I dont know what has changed.

good job

Why not present the complete picture on the subject of online and live safety in poker?
While online poker is generally safe, anyone who has been in the game for at least 10 years remembers the days of certain sites being caught cheating, actually you do not even need to have been playing the game that long to find out what had happened, a simple online search of “Poker sites caught cheating ” will present the information for you.
As for Live poker, the comment of “in a situation where it cannot possibly be rigged” Sorry to be a Doubting Thomas “but there are individuals who are “Card Mechanics” that are able to manipulate any deck of cards.
So while extremely unlikely at your local casino, let us not be blind to the deception that had and does exist in this world that we all live in.   :)
well said i geuss im a douting tomas to. have fun:eek:

That is some rap cheats of misdemeanors.
I can't personally say I have ever experienced cheating myself but it does happen.
By all accounts there are still a ton of bots out there and the sites need to do more to stamp these out.
It is hard to stop collusion and I am sure that does happen.
For all it's faults Pokerstars has great security so I feel safest playing there
