A very good article.

I never really understood what tilt is about until i read the article.

With myself, i find that i tilt, when i play when i am tired.

When i loos a tournament to with AA to two pairs, i just have tilt fore 2 minutes when i slam the computer into the table and find something else to do. :)

Tilt is something that every single poker player has dealt with at one time or another. If you meet someone who says they haven't, they are probably lying or perhaps they are a robot. Tilt in poker can have an extremely negative impact on your game, and at its worst can destroy bankrolls.

It is important to know exactly what Tilt is, be able to recognize what your triggers are and when it is happening to you. But even more important is learning to combat and deal with it by learning from it and stopping or diminishng its affect on your game.

We've covered everything you need to know about tilt and then some:

The Anatomy of Online Poker Tilt

Read the article, and comment here to let us know what you learned, and what other tips you may have on dealing with tilt. Feel free to share your tilt stories and how you have been successful in turning it around. After all, none of us want to be this guy, right?

Recognizing Tilt in others can pose a challenge. At a Tournament, I noticed a player that was starting to Tilt with attitude, verbal aggression and horrible poker hands. Small pot, Mr. Tilt went all-in at the river; I folded and showed my cards (quad 2's). I had a great chip lead, the hand didn't hurt me at all and I like winning but I had to reach out to Mr. Tilt that day. He could not believe that someone noticed his need and he went on to get In-The-Money. Poker should not be and does not have to be based on greed. Yes, I did win money that day. Now, go get 'em!

Great article, especially liked the mention that tilt is not only in the game, this can occur due to problems in your life such as simple things from daily tasks or other more serious things like the loss of a loved one.
It really took me a long time to understand the essence of tilt, it took me a long time to realize what was driving me into tilt.
Something that helped me in my life was meditation and learning to breathe when something goes out of control.
A good example is when you are contemplated with a bad beat, instead of cursing, blaming the villain, you breathe deeply for two seconds and exhale for three, after that 5 seconds you completely forget what happened and focus on a new action. Of course, for this you have to understand the game or understand why this problem in your life.
This has made my base, and with it I have become a more calm and effective person 😊

I like the previous article on tilt that Cardschat had. It had helped me tremendously to learn to deal with tilt. Maybe you should combine both articles in a new one.

I don't know if it's a fight or not, but when I start losing all the time, I go to the u-tub and turn on the economic news. in parallel with this, I turn to the game of conditional chips. this greatly smoothes my inner screams and experiences. well, if it doesn't work with virtual chips, the next step in the client is closed and the break with the viewing of the film.

It can be quite frustrating when you keep getting terrible luck, but I guess you need to stay focused and not panic.

good article, my first inciios in poker were not very good the first few months, as I went into tilt and spent all the bankroll in less than 5 minutes played for playing and paid whatever, but today and little by little we improve the game and we control the emotions, but I'm still walking the tilt, but stop now .. and what a good article here we can learn many things and follow some advice, luck at the tables

Excellent article and it's just the right time for me to read it and the advice of the players thank you very much card chat. Recently, I began to go to tilt and lose a lot of reasons for this because of fatigue and constant crossings on the river. Concluded a break in the game for a few days to rest and during the game I simply move away for a few minutes so as not to lose everything.

If you do not enjoy the game and how it is going - you will be tilted 100%. It's not about only poker but any kind of game. It's about sports, poker, computer games or anything where you can win or loose. We love to win, and the opposite. Just our nature.

It never happened to me during some losers and I myself stopped controlling, and I started playing all the hands in a row.

I'm experiencing so less emotionally.

Anger, stress and emotional problems make any player go away and do wrong things in the game.
I believe that in determinate game nominees, the fear or pride of losing can be worse things than emotional problems such as racket and stress. No doubt I still have to improve my game in this way of thinking and acting.

What a great article. (Typos aside, that is)

I especially like the "bio-rhythm" representation of tilt and overall poker mood. If this could be overlaid with a similar representation of how one's cards are running, it would create the "Bio-rhythm" chart of Poker. Although it would defy the "rhythm" aspect of it all since luck does not flow in rhythm (really it doesn't, just in case you're an "It'sriggedtard").

I also like Tommy Angelo's feelings about "Life Tilt" and "Poker Tilt" being equivalent. I am constantly working on my Life Tilt in almost all aspects of my life. I'm doing well in the poker side of things. Now, if I could only control my Driving Tilt half as well......

The best thing to do when we get some suckouts that lead us to tilt are; Take some successive deep breaths, close your eyes and fix something that recalls good memories or a smiling baby face, put some relaxing music, eat a bar of chocolate or some candies. Now that you have a clearer mind count back how many bigblinds you still have look top the prizepool and check the range charts. Folding and missing some orbits will put you back in buisiness.

Awesome Article I'm not usually the type of player that goes on tilt easy but it happen to me once and I learned with a 50$ lost ... but lately I already was doing some of the things that it recomends this article, for me the most helpful techniche is take deep breaths and evaluate the hand percentages on the odds calculator to see if I made the right shove/call that makes me feel better either way if I was on the correct move I'm happy cause is just variance and if not I learn something new about the situation to not repeat the mistake on the future...

Getting hit hard with top pairs can usually send us off the deep end and give up , going on to a new game. Many times this leads us to continue some bad playing
Tilt equalls to stop playing with a break and re-group, with a new mindset

I think that this article will have the most posts :), this is something that happens to me every day, while I play poker (I can not do anything) :), the only advice I can give is, as soon as it comes to the tilt, it should be interrupted game, at least 2 hours, until a little player calms down, otherwise he will lose all the money he has on the account, I am speaking from experience.

I once got knocked out of a tourney with about 15 percent of players still in, on an all in with KK, losing to AA. I entered another tournament just starting, and in my very first hand had KK, ended up all in pre-flop and losing to AA again. Two consecutive hands got knocked out of a tourney KK to AA! Awful! Should not have gone all in on the second time. That was tilt.

When your running bad and suffer some bad beats just tell yourself, the reason there is money in poker is because the worse players can win with the worse hand. Otherwise they wouldn't play, and there would be no money to be made.

I have not yet met people capable of not being exposed to tilt in poker. I always get distracted from poker when the bad luck line begins to flow. I was able to accustom myself to this, and this has not once saved my bankroll. And I managed to win again. By the way, the SS freerolls provide a great opportunity to practice your nerves, without risking your money. And only then move to higher limits.

Poker is based on decisions.
Must fully control emotions not to make bad decisions or overcome bad we do.
When we play live we have the great disadvantage that our face is a poem if someone reads us the plays, and lost everything.
Online we can jump for joy or mourn in frustration.

Great article. A few things come to mind...

1) I see on the chart that "boredom" is between contentment and pessimism, then frustration. That is the controllable factor, or a controllable factor. gambling addicts are encouraged to "have other hobbies" because of this exact situation.

2) Stop drawing. Don't even think about figuring tight pot odds, just wait for a solid hand after the flop to let the rhythm of the cards turn it around for you. stop trying to bluff as well. People sense you're on tilt.

3) Good time to take a day to study instead of play.
