Is it possible that one could just be a lucky person and not a skillful poker player? After looking at my poker career and all the hands I have made, the two bad beat jackpots I’ve won, the rare events, the royal flushes/straight flushes/quads after it all....it makes me stop and look at my life and I see it all over again, born with gifts other adore, been put in situations which others only dream off. After it all... I ask....am I just lucky?

Most likely yes, you are very lucky! Good luck at the tables.

I would say that besides the two, an important role is also the player's inspiration.

Poker is a skill, but luck is always welcome.

I would say a bit of both. If you play without bluffing, you have to have lucky hands. Do you agree with me?

I also think it's both, but in a large freeroll luck trumps skill I think.

in my opinion both! sometimes you also need luck, sometimes you have to find it when your opponent is bluffing, so to do that you have to learn to read the other player’s game, and that indicates your abilities, qualifies.

poker

Of course, poker is a skill. It's too intellectual a game to hope for luck here.

A banal question, a banal answer: at a long distance there is only and only skill, at a short distance, luck.

In reality, poker is about patience, about luck, there are those who believe, others are about intelligence when playing.

I think it's a bit of both, it's no use having skill if the River hits the opponent's card.
And it's no use just relying on luck, like going all in and counting that luck will turn your cards over.

And not to mention that the main thing about all this is having a lot of patience and resilience, I think this is more essential to have a good game.

You're lucky... I'm good.

... if one needs to ask "am I just lucky?" I'd suggest that the answer is 'yes'

I believe once you know the possible outs and know what beats what , then the rest is just luck and following your gut.
I try to watch for patterns and how the cards are flopping out.

Skill vs luck

There is a part of chance in poker, that is for sure. But I think poker is more based on skills than on luck.
