I got hooked on the thrill of the whole process of building a stack, making it into the money, and battling my way to the final table. The few times I have won, or taken the top three or four, it was just so much more fun that grinding at a cash table, even when I win big time.
I used to be a bit afraid of tournaments. I grew up watching the
wsop, but had very little opportunities to actually play mtt. I would mostly play cash games with friends. Even when I started playing online I was wary of the mtt games. The idea of entering and knowing that my
odds for failing and not cashing are very high always made me want to stick to the cash games.
It wasn't until I played my first live tournament at a local casino and took 3rd that I realized how much fun MTTs could be. It was just a $50 buy in, so I didn't exactly hit it big, but I got hooked on the whole thing, and now I play almost only MTT. I will still play cash games live, but I tend to stay away from online cash games so I can spend my time and energy on tournaments. Right now I just have more fun playing MTT.
