Online has always been more about making money for me, where live play with friends is all about fun.

I like playing online because it gives me experience and something to do. I like playing with friends because we get crazy and have a good time.

I played live twice, I was very anxious, so I didn't even get to enjoy it very much, I intend to restart the adventure live but I would like to read tips to get started.

I like to play live poker when it is with a group of friends getting together on a Friday night for a friendly game of poker with a few beer and a lot of laughs. Otherwise I enjoy online poker because I can play when I feel like it.

I like live poker, but to play it we need to go to another city, it remains to play online. in live poker there are no idiots with 5 2 cards ALL IN, talking with people is fun. because i`m prefer live poker

Više volim turnire u živo jer ne postoji mogućnost da te software izbaci s turnira samo zbog toga što imaš manje čipova od protivnika.

You can find in live poker such players. If they want to bluff :))

Definitely live tournaments. The players are much worse and easier to read. Live tells are far more reliable than any online tells (except betting tells, they are really the same for both). Online tournaments have so much variance because of the different type of players.

I agree with everything you said, and it's one of the reasons I enjoy playing online tournaments. I feel like if i fire up 4-6 games odds are I will get at least one deep run.

I also like playing online because the time investment is less, no travel involved, I can stretch out on the breaks, and have all my healthy food available.

That being said, if i have to choose one or the other, I may take live events for similar reasons. Even though I don't have all the comforts of home, nobody else does, and I find the pace to be very nice and calming. Lots of little things tire out and annoy other people which don't bother me, so while their energy crashes mine stays very high :)

I also like that live tournaments will draw softer fields for higher buyins and so you get to play higher stakes with people who are not used to playing high stakes.

Finally in live tournaments you get WAY more information on your opponents, both how they look, dress, but also their energy levels and mood are on full display. I find this extra info makes it way easier to make better decisions, and so because of

a) the higher stakes
b) the information advantage
c) the stamina advantage that being a healthy yogi offers

I prefer live tournaments to online tournaments (but only by a little bit )

I love playing live, but it's five hours to the nearest casino. I do play some bar poker league events near my house, but they're not quite the same. there's nothing like sitting in a huge conference room filled with poker tables and players, the constant chatter of players and clatter of chips. It's a great thrill.

I do not have the opportunity to participate in live poker. That's why I play online poker. In addition, there is a wide selection of games and tournaments.

I prefer live tourneys to online. I love sitting down with chips in hand, real cards in front of me and a face to stare down while in a hand. I also prefer the pace of a live game. Sometimes it can take a minute or two to make a decision but you arent given that luxury in most online games.

Also, I feel as though I tend to keep my composure and avoid going on tilt much better in a live situation. In an online game no one can see you getting upset so i think most people will show their emotions more in an online game and end up playing themselves by going on tilt much easier. At a live tourney you dont want other players to see you upset so you tend to withhold your emotions and try to move on to the next hand.

Just my preference and reasons:)

I prefer live tournaments cause playing in a real setting is very important to me. Real card, around people, more time to react etc... the thrill of live games can never be matched online.

Online Poker Vs Live Poker

There are several notable differences between online and live poker. Although the fundamentals of poker tournaments are largely the same either way, the overall experience you get from playing live is simply not the same as the experience you get from online poker. Some of the differences actually have a significant impact on certain aspects of poker.
Here is a comprehensive comparison between live and online poker tournaments.

1. Speed of Play

This is one of the biggest, most tangible differences between live and online poker. Playing online poker is a lot faster and easier, for fairly obvious reasons. Much of what takes up time to travel to live poker tables is automatically reduced and therefore the quick format of online poker tournaments is so popular. There is no need for the deck to be manually shuffled after each round, the cards are dealt in a split second, and any chip counts can be done instantly.

2. Convenience & Comfort

Playing online poker tournaments from the comfort of your own home is definitely more convenient than playing live, especially if you don't live anywhere near a casino or poker room. There is no need to make a trip, as you can play any time you choose just by firing up your mobile, computer, or whatever device you are logging into.

3. Game Availability

Most live poker rooms around the world have certain opening and closing hours. Even the ones that are open 24 hours can’t guarantee that you'll always find a table. You don't run into such problems while playing online poker. Online poker websites never close or shut down and you'll always find games running around the clock.

4. Game Selection

The selection of games available at online poker websites can't even be compared to what's available in a live poker room. There's a massive variety of online poker tournaments to choose from, whereas your options are quite limited in even the biggest live poker rooms. The largest websites typically offer all of the games including pot-limit Omaha poker, Texas Holdem, Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven Card Stud, Five Card Draw, etc.

5. Option to Multi-Table

For most of you who are not familiar with this term, multi-table can be defined as playing at multiple poker tables at once. This is easy to do at most online poker websites, but it is essentially impossible to so in live poker rooms. Many recreational players and almost all novice players are not affected by this. They typically have no interest in multi-tabling, instead, they prefer to concentrate on playing as well as they can on a single table. But, it does affect a lot of poker pros who play poker full time. Therefore, it is a big score for a poker player to play poker online.

Final Verdict

From these differences, it seems pretty clear that online poker has more advantages than live. The issues of convenience and availability are the biggest advantages, closely followed by a greater variety of online poker tournaments and stakes available online. It is also worth noting that you don't have to choose one or the other, it is perfectly possible to enjoy both formats of poker rooms.

Online vs Live

Both Online and live has it's advantages and disadvantages for me.
Live has the advantage of being slower and you can read your opponents better but it is also has the draw back of playing one tournament at a time.
Online is fast paced, multiple tournaments or tables and more chances of making money but the draw back is not reading the other players when you are busy with multiple tables and there is no chatting in between to pick up tells on opponents.
So by conclusion for myself I prefer Live.:stupido:

I like online tournaments but live makes it feel the sensation of living, the air while you drive to the casino, the smell inside, the people you can meet, online games don't have that also courtesy dinner.

Both have got pros and contras. Live tournaments give you the additional opportunity to read opponents and make better calls on individuals. The online ones on the other hand allow you to do anything you want during a game, give you more space and you stay in your comfort zone that can be a huge advantage.
