There is a peculiar aspect of California Law which seems to prevent we the people from getting complete texts of proposed bills. Tis the case here. I can only find a first page of the actual proposal. The links provided by that article only offer partial texts as well. I believe this 'aspect' of the law also prevents we the people from finding publicly published court proceedings. We can find references to those proceedings, but can not search them from the net. Seems Lexus Nexus has some sort of monopoly on that shit.

I want to see and dissect the whole proposal. :(

Washington Lawmakers Wary of Decriminalizing Online Poker
State Representative is resigned to “wait until next year.”
http://pokerfuse.com/news/law-and-regulation/washington-lawmakers-wary-decriminalizing-online-poker-26-02/

NJ Legislature to Vote on Governor’s Changes to Online Gambling Law
Affirmative vote expected Tuesday, followed by a signature from Christie.New Jersey lawmakers will vote this week on Governor Chris Christie’s proposed changes to an online gambling bill that will legalize and regulate poker and other forms of gambling online.

Earlier this month, Christie vetoed an online gaming bill, but said he would would sign it into law with minor amendments.

Christie suggested taxing operators at 15 percent, as opposed to the 10 percent in the original bill, along with funding to prevent excessive gambling and requisite 10-year renewal of the law.

“Now is the time for our State to move forward, again leading the way for the nation, by becoming one of the first States to permit Internet gaming,” he said in a statement after the veto.

The State Senate and Assembly are expected to vote on the governor’s changes Tuesday. Expected to pass rather swiftly, the new bill would then be sent back to Christie to sign.

Last week, Nevada fast-tracked a law to legalize online poker and allow for interstate agreements where online gaming is also legal.

Delaware also expects to launch online poker later this year.

With possible federal legislation by the wayside, Nevada and New Jersey are jockeying to become the US hub of the newly regulated industry.

Today I filed two Initiatives with the Secretary of State, and they are on their way to the Code Reviser for review. I should have that review by the end of next week, and at that time will make any revisions necessary.

And so begins the battle. We need everyone who loves the game of poker, and all those who believe we should be free to play, from the State of Washington, to get on board with this effort and let's make it happen! WAipokerNOW@gmail.com for info on how you can get involved.

It's always nice to see stuff like this. Although I anticipate it will still be years before anything really happens, it's good to see that people are remaining interested in any progress.
I would think given the current financial woes Uncle Sam faces, they will fairly quickly (Bureaucrat time; Haha... so who knows really) structure tax code and the devices to collect, i.e.freely intercept their "SHARE" of the online poker $ stream, coupled with or shortly followed by implementation of the same system across all avenues of the virtual world.

Look what they have and are doing to "POLICE & PROTECT" in the real world, which grows exponentially every passing second. One can only image the tactics they are employing in the virtual one, since that is the next realm for them to wield total control in!

Kentucky is the WORST buddy; Some sites, juicy stakes in particular makes you check a box stating that you do not reside in the Common Wealth of Kentucky. It's the only one I've seen specifically called out so to say and I've tried just about every site out there.
And still have 8 different accounts, honestly I'm moving very soon because I fear they may kick my door in over playing online poker. Assholes kicked it in years ago here 7 or 9 deep blacked out, laser sites every where, body armor and face masks! Said they thought they saw a fugitive escaped from prison run in my front door!!! Well they didn't technically kicked or break the door, they knocked I cracked the door to see what they wanted and a wall of black barged through the door knocking me back onto a chair! No lawyer would even take my lawsuit against them.
Trust me KY is a nightmare as well as all Common Wealth States; They are all Hyper Aggressive Military States but it ain't much better anywhere else either so whatdaya gonna do? Why a small town with less than 25,000 residents needs surplus army tanks, a small airfield of planes and several helicopters also mostly army surplus and a unusually large swat team unit with multiple APC's plus weaponized APC's, 4 mobile command centers and they converted the old middle school into a operations center/army reserve base/swat and homeland security as well as DEA and all the alphabet groups training center. They have two police forces in the same area, county and city. Not to mention that almost all the officers that work for both those departments are either U.S Marshalls, DEA, or ATF. Boy what a great place to stay, I'd feel safe as hell if I didn't know that machine is criminal in its efforts to control and generate revenue.

Least OH & IN 10 minutes away and have legit online poker or at least acceptance on most sites and B&M casinos as well. Cincy just opened a new one Downtown. FU KY your a parasite on the earth and humanity just like the larger wheel your a part of.

Anyone else get the feeling that these also ran states will end up banning OLP because they waited too long and can't get in on the ground floor and thus collect the possible monies?

I live in California, and will watch this state postpone action until it is too late to benefit from action.

And somebody remind me why the Indian Tribes have so much power in the gambling world! They are a major PITA to us players in Ca.

My honest feeling is that just about the same time this summer that Real Money On Line Poker will commence in a hand full of individual states, the feds will pass some form of unifying guidelines legalizing it for the Nation.

For a guaranteed piece of the action, of course.

My other feeling is that by the time all is said and done, the rake/fees for OLP will have to be bigger than it is for Live Poker. The greed of all those outside entities might easily marginalize OLP to such a small niche that none of us is happy.

Local, regional, state and then the Feds will all demand a piece of the pie.

I really hope I am wrong.:(

Since I've said this many times, I figured it was time for me to verify. There are no existing laws preventing interstate OLP. Interstate, not intrastate. Each State may enact laws to make it criminal to play online, but few have done it so far.

Any google of things like Interstate Gambling Regulations or Laws bring up failed attempts at lawmaking, and a lot of related stuff to what we already know.

One bloggers view, http://vegasclick.com/online/legal.html

He also sees little if any legal barricades to anyone/any site, providing, at their leisure, OLP to US players. He too believes that someone should have challenged the DOJ, in court, after BF.

The only good that I see that the DOJ did on BF was to expose the shenanigans at FullTilt, and hammering the final nail in the UB/AP coffin. And they could have handled that way better.

If Stars for example, wants to get grounded in the States, all it has to do is do it! Do it in a state where the laws are especially nebulous...like California, where the legislature will never pass anything either way. There is a Gambling Commission in California, and some regulations for licensing, but based on its history, Stars should be able to pass that easily. http://oag.ca.gov/gambling/card

In California, the Indian Tribes hold serious sway, but they are not the law, only a semi serious competitor.

There are no federal laws preventing interstate OLP.! IMHO, it will be nearly impossible for this to change, i.e. there will be no new laws at the Federal level, and the only thing that will happen at the state level is legislation to make OLP illegal in your state.

Treasure Island, 888 Receive Nevada Online Poker Licenses
The Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) granted interactive gaming licenses to 888 U.S. Limited and Treasure Island LLC last week, bringing the launch of the first legal intrastate online poker site in the United States just a bit closer to a reality.

These two licenses were not unexpected. The companies had already been recommended for approval and the March 21st hearing before the NGC was more or less a formality. The important thing here is that with 888 U.S. Limited, the stateside incarnation of online gaming firm 888 Holdings, a license has finally be given to a firm with both experience in internet gaming and an established poker product.

888 and Treasure Island announced a partnership in February and just a couple weeks ago, 888 Holdings entered into a joint venture with U.S. investment firm Avenue Capital Group to create the All American Poker Network (AAPN), the first legal U.S. online poker network. Treasure Island will be the first room on the network. The AAPN will obviously start in Nevada, but as Nevada law was recently amended to allow for interstate poker compacts, it would not be surprising to see the network expand to other states.
888’s license also means that a World Series of Poker-branded real money online poker room is likely on the way. The Gibraltar-based company has already been approved for a partnership with Caesars Interactive Entertainment, owner of the World Series of Poker, to launch a WSOP-branded poker room in Nevada. The two already have a play-money version of the site, WSOP-USA.com, and it is expected that the real-money version would be very similar. It is not known if the new World Series of Poker online poker room would join Treasure Island on the All American Poker Network, but considering both the WSOP site and Treasure Island would be running 888’s software, it would not be surprising, especially if they value player traffic.

Other land-based gaming companies such as MGM, Boyd Gaming, and ACEP have been licensed, just as Treasure Island has, but their software partners have not, giving Treasure Island and 888 a leg up. South Point Poker was the first company to be granted an interactive gaming license in Nevada last year and has actually developed its own poker software, but it still has not launched its poker room. South Point expected to beat everybody to the punch, saying it was going to launch in the fall of 2012, but supposed delays in the independent testing have pushed back the unveiling of the site.

888’s software, dating back to when Pacific Poker was one of the most popular poker rooms on the internet, used to be one of the worst products in the industry. The graphics were outdated, it was slow, it lacked advanced features, and the ability to play multiple tables was limited. It received an overhaul a few years ago, however, and is now a very good, if unexciting, offering.

888’s international real-money poker room is currently ranked fifth in terms of cash game traffic, according to PokerScout.com.
