If you are a WA resident, and want your internet poker back, or at least to not be considered a felon for playing $1 SNG's, then hit me up with a PM here or e-mail me at WAipokerNOW@gmail.com so I can arm you with the tools necessary to effect change in our State!

Now, why that quote is relevant to our fight for online poker. There are so few really taking any action to bring about change that would restore our freedom to play the game. Granted, you can go to any number of forums and see a lot of belly-aching, a lot of "it should be" and other such talk, but none of that is productive.

If you really want to see change, YOU have to make it happen. Do you have a local organization working on the problem? If not, you should form one. Have you ever met with your State Representative(s)? Do you even know his/her name? Pick up the phone and call them, ask to meet with them, spend 45 minutes discussing the issue, and encourage your friends to do the same.

No new non Indian Casino's or card rooms have opened in CA since the Indians got a stranglehold on B&M gaming in CA.

They have been the major thorn in the side of OLP advocates in CA. They will continue to be just that, unless they relinquish much of that monopoly they have in B&M gaming here. I do not see that happening, unless the Governor and Legislature were to make a quick deal with Nevada to allow Ca. Players to play Nev. sites. There is no real indication that will happen. Governor Brown said once he wasn't sure one way or the other, but that was last year, and I can only find one statement attributable to him. Older than last years statements becomes historical hogwash IMHO.

The big existing Ca Casino's, all had Card Room's before the Indians got their powers. Commerce, Bicycle, Hawaiian Gardens, Normandy, Hollywood Park, Hustler, Crystal in the L.A. area. There have been some name changes, perhaps even ownership changes, but that pool does not contain any of the big name Casino ops because the Indian Gaming lobby is large here in Ca.

The Mohawks, Seminole, and Pechanga Indian groups (along with every other tribe) would all love to get a piece of the action, but they will never figure out how. It's a case of too many Chiefs, not enough Indians :)eek:sorry, could not resist). The equivalent would be something like an industry only available to existing companies with addresses on Park avenue, who have a monopoly on that industry. They too would never figure out how to accomplish any group task.

And for the record, all existing laws regarding Native Americans and gaming refer to them as Indians, not Native Americans, so while it might seem distasteful to use the term, it is in the laws. The laws are covered and regulated under the Indian Gaming Commission, not the Native American Gaming Commission. That distinct terminology appears in lots of relate-able laws.

Possibly a much simpler solution for Ca is to make a law that somehow gets the state the monies they hope for (or close to it) without doing much of anything. Something like a pact with Nevada gaming rooms. The decision making for making the pact would need to be out of the general public eye, else it will bog down and no pacts will ever be made.:(

(Secretly, I favor this approach as it would keep both the Indians, and the existing state interests from getting in on it. All of them have, till recently, been opposed to OLP and OL gaming), often loudly opposed.

Just for grins, the current population of Ca is roughly what it was for the entire US in 1870, when getting anything done was also a problem. 38 million give or take a few.

I still like the idea that Nevada offer their online services to all states where OLP is not specifically illegal. This would include any state where Bovada and Merge and others current offer OLP.

At that point, the only laws involved (AFAICT) would be UEGIA. So it might require a trip to Nevada to set up an account. If we think thru the implications of that, it would seem no one in Nevada could be against that idea. Deposit stores could spring up in all border towns.

They actually suggest setting up your account prior to visiting Nevada, that way any bugs or questions can be ironed out b4 you get here. You can log onto the site even b4 you visit even make your deposit. Its only when you go to buy into a game, they ping your cell phone to see where you are.

:five:

So next time Dax hits vegas, everybody FedEx her your cells and chargers. lol

ooo so all I have to do is buy a cheap prepaid phone and leave it with a friend plugged in in Nevada?

Surely they check IP addresses!

Surely they check IP addresses!

All I know is the one time they denied me buying into a game, and the error message said, "Unable to confirm your cell phone was within Nevada"

I logged out and back in and it worked fine.

I think its fairly easy to mask an IP as opposed to arranging to have a live cell working within the state.

No matter what the regulation is, there will always people attempting to circumvent the rules.
