His bank is probably looking at his infrequent, but very large, deposits as a potential sign of illegal activity. Of course, you'd think they could reach out to him and find out what is the real deal before doing something stupid like telling a person with a lot money and a huge fan base that they don't want his business.

Working for a major large bank I can add something to the conversation. They wouldn't have close his accounts for ne reason. That's taking a loss in revenue. The only way a Bank will close the accounts is if they feel that they are violating federal law. It must have something to do with large deposits from over seas, I guarantee it. Also why did they take 30% of his deposits again? I wonder how he felt having 30% on all his 2015 deposits robbed and he just couldn't do nothing about It?

Well, i believe it has something to do with 'Laundry of funds'!
Government believe illegal funds are flowing through sites, to wash from government tracing (following of monetry travel).
Thus people can unwittingly help wash terrorist funds with game playing, and then withdrawing funds few days later...
I can see both sides of argument.

Banks are under strict goverment controls now, especially after they were all bailed out of the S..t, few years ago, and thus have to open 'ALL' accounts to allow goverment scrutiny.

Canada are under similar law changes, to allow their Goverment access to private citizens accounts to follow and stop negative transferring (terrorists transferring to citizens), and having them withdraw funds once there, and then re deposit funds into another account that terrorists have access to.

The whole world is a wash basin now...we all have to do our part to stop these nutters!

I banked with BOA, while I was still with Pokerstars.. I was allowed my cashout of Black Friday. I hope Dan gets his money. I always wondered how he still played. Is it because he is Canadian Citizenship?

It really doesn't matter with your citizenship. It definitely matters where you play. You cannot play on poker stars from the USA, but can play in Canada regardless of what citizenship you have.

N'yeah... if you read the letter back again (and the Tweet it's attached to) you'll see it's not actually a genuine letter from Bank of America, it's a spoof someone's made up

It's dumb but banks are allowed to deny anyone's business at their discretion. A similar thing is happening in Colorado lately. A ton of money is being made from legally sold marijuana but it's at the banks discretion to knowingly accept those funds. A lot of banks just don't want that money right now because like poker it's still a bit of a gray area because of the State vs Federal laws and regulation and what have you. But then again who knows, maybe the CEO of Bank of America is friends with Sheldon Adelson and they're just needling Daniel
