A whopping $283.42 billion by 2032 - this is gargantuan! Well, more people have fast internet and smartphones, and like most of us, we like playing poker online. With Europe as the likely leader in this poker boom, this is no wonder since they have good rules (unlike US) and lots of technology.ResearchAndMarkets.com gives a report on the "analysis of current market dynamics and insights into future growth prospects". The report is predicting the global online poker market will hit $283.42 billion by 2032, nearly $200 million more than the current global market of around $96.8 billion.

They did during the lockdowns. But after lockdowns were lifted, it has been the exact opposite. The travel industry has been booming in 2022 and 2023 due to pent up demand. Not surprised. Since the Covid, more people spend more time on-line.
To be honest I dont think, that prediction will come true. For 15 years we have seen nothing but declining volume on all sites except GG Poker. Less and less activity in cash games and SnGs, and smaller and smaller quaranties in MTTs. Thats the reality on pokerstars, 888 Poker, partypoker and ACR Poker, and everyone, who have played there for more than a year, knows it. It would be great to see the development turn around, but until I see it with my own two eyes, I dont beleive in it.@fundiver199 I told you about this, remember? - what's your argument now?
It will benefit the industry - but not the players. The use of smartphones and tablets is expected to become a driving force for digital gaming in the coming years. Easy access to online poker and casino games around the world will greatly benefit the industry.

I agree, thanks to CardsChat and for the good news too!And Cardschat is contributing brilliantly to this graph rising.😉

Also some of the things written in the article makes no sense. They are mentioning increased access to the internet as a growth driver. But at the same time they are mentioning Europe as the strongest market, and in Europe most people have had access to the internet for more than 2 decades already. What is going to be far more important, is, what happen on the regulatory front. Will dutch people for instance be allowed back on PokerStars? Or will even more countrys make regulations, that essentially kill online poker, as Germany has done.
With that being said, there is one site, which is growing, and that is GG Poker. And its also possible, that there is growth in gambling oriented formats like Spin n Gos, which are easy to play on a Smartphone. So maybe the total turnover in the industry is actually increasing, but this mainly benefit the owners of GG Poker. For people, who enjoy traditional poker formats (that are possible to beat), action is getting less and less, except on GG Poker.
So?Thanks fundiver199 for seeing this post before me and replying because you have spared me the effort!
I am sorry, I read the OP and sort of laughed. The projection sounds absurd - seriously, over a quarter of a trillion spent on poker in 2032? But even the present day figures do not sound particularly credible in a market segment which has seen entities withdrawing with the exception of GG...
' ...the current global market of around $96.8 billion'...
That would be 1.86 billion every week or 266 million a day for all 365 days of the year. Color me skeptical but it sounds like figures somewhat plucked out of the air to me.

Have you seen what the twitch influencers are up to?This article show the historical data for cash game traffic across poker sites. It has dropped around 2/3 from the peak reached in 2010/2011, and in recent years growth on GG Poker has only been able to partly compensate for declines elsewhere. So its pretty bold to predict more than 100% growth over the next decade. Of course cash games only makes up part of the volume in online poker. But for sure the picture for SnG traffic is not any better.
