I think through sit & gos, you'll never be able to build a bankroll.I'd try bigger tournaments but I don't always have the time or patience to play them.

Since only about 10% of poker players play profitable it is more than obvious that the beginners who start playing online will not be among them... Sure, You can get lucky and win a bigger sum in MTTs even if You are a newbie... But this money is also quickly lost again... The majority of players online simply doesnt have enough money to play with a decent bankroll and so their downswings will usually leave them broke...

I prefer playing live... First it is a much more skill based game and less gambling as in live poker You get a lot more reads on your opponents and it is much harder to not let your opponents read You. Onlnie it is more or less reduced to the math behind the game. And then there are the countless miracles I see online... Just too many... I don't really trust the sites anymore. You get your bad beats offline too but to me it seems to happen alot less often than online...

We live in a debt based economy and pay 20% on our own money for absolutely no reason, when the constitution says we have the right to make our own. So the FED is a international corporation that screws us day in and day out, but yet people think somehow we live in candyland where every corporation loves us and would never hurt us....

I think (just guessing here) what she's saying is the game is not easy, like some people might believe it to be.

So, to take a shot at online poker and be a fairly constant winner takes time and effort. So, must likely, people starting to play poker will lose money, and she knows this, so it is hard for her to encourage new people to play with a somewhat false hope of winning good money fast and easy from online poker. Of course, the problem is that poker can become addicted and people could end up broke (along with all the consequences that can come from that).

no shes not she saying its rigged up haha. The players online aren't good as you see when they play live they all get crushed. The only one that transitioned from online to live and actually do decently was tom dwan. The rest got roasted. What people don't understand is they are using software to make all the decisions for them online or they are using bots. You can't sit at home on a computer and make money. You have to get off your lazy ass and go to casino if you want to make money at poker. But imo you have to stay away from cash games cause its full of collusion live and online and you have bots on top of it online and superusers (potripper).

These smaller sites like global poker i am sure have them. There tables are always full and i will watch and sometimes the same 5 palyers wont leave a table for 4 or 5 hrs. Real people dont all sit on the same table for 4 or 5 hrs. Maybe 1 or 2 do who grind all day but those are bots or workers. Thats the problem with online poker she doesn't want to say those things but she knows somethings up. Its why all the online pokers quit. doug polk, dwan, galfond, ivey, antonius, doyle, mike matusow, gus hansen etc. I think Joey Ingram finally figured it out its shady now. It takes people 3 or 4 years to realize to much shady stuff is going on. I think playing mtts or anything where you constantly switch tables is some what fair but if its one table cash game, mtt sng etc yoru going ot be cheated out of your money quite often online. And live scotty nguyen said they cheat on every cash table so he retired from poker even live.

So, I have recently stumbled upon a post on FB from Vanessa Selbst. It is about her quitting poker and leaving pokerstars team. Among other reasons, one really caught my attention:

For me, online poker was never for money making but more of a source of fun, but still it didn't seem unbeatable. As a live player, I don't quite understand what she meant..
So, I am interested in your thoughts on this? Also, how do you feel playing online poker as oppose to playing live?

Online poker is admittedly more of a grind compared to live poker. The other thing too is that the social aspect of poker is essentially missing in online poker. Vanessa Selbst's skills are perhaps best used in nosebleed stakes games like Bobby's Room. I like online poker because of how convenient it is. However, if I was good at $5/$10 NLHE games or even $20/$40 Stud, I'd rather play live than online just to make an image for myself haha.

I think the problem is not the sites. I think that people are getting better and better at the game at the same time you are getting better at the game. I think the field is really tough to get through for a beginner or advanced player. Poker used to be a lot easier. Unfortunately that's not the case anymore.

Sounds like she's not down with how they get new players and find there ways to be deceitful . Not that online poker is not beatable . But she is saying the skill level required will not be posseed or obtained in such an easy manor

I think Vanessa could not continue her online career because of her temperament. I saw her play on the EPT. She was annoyed by any little thing. Up to the point that she expressed dissatisfaction with what the enemy thought for a long time, before calling her all-in! And such a person - choleric is not easy to sit in front of a computer for days. It's a genie locked in a bottle.

Yep still know that ACR poisoned their MTTs, SitNGo,and Cash Games to promote rake generating grinders hence sit ncrush and the beast. Also extended time late reg. MTTs

the microstakes are beatable however to get some money you need to climb stakes and there people do not make silly mistakes so once you hit a stake that you do not big edge over population then the rake beats you.
Agreed!

After watching Joe Ingram's videos on ACR cheating (bots, collusion, superuser, etc.), I'm really thinking about switching back to betonline or ignition. I only stick around for the freerolls.

But a lot of people are winning player online and make a lot of money so I don't think this is necessary true.

Online poker being unbeatable is a lie because if it wasn't then it wouldn't exist. I believe Ms. Selbst is dealing w/a moral issue, after all she is an attorney. She's basically Helmuth's female doppelganger. She can't stand to lose AT ALL! Making a statement like this is her way of setting herself apart from the online community, imo.

Everyone who plays online is taking it seriously. Live you have drunks who are watching football, some dude who just came to the casino to watch a concert, some dude who just got lucky and hit a jackpot on slots, etc...
The players online are just better.
Also, how hard would it be to cheat? Pretty easy if you ask me. Just get your neighbor to sit on the same table as you and use your phone to tell each other what you have. Manipulate the game, split the winning.
It's like Mike and Worm all over again!

I am assuming that she is referring to making money online from playing poker. Boy, do I know how hard it is to be disciplined playing this game. I have been on a roller coaster but think I have seen more highs than lows. Only now, I seem to be settled and putting a system in place. This is a result of many videos and tutorials at pokerschool. Now I am trying to plug my leaks - cash games and bankroll management!

I absolutely prefer live poker - running positive there for sure. You get a better feel for the players and there is a lot more information from body language.

Poker is a fun game in my opinion - live or online - adjustments can be made. :)

You can take that to the bank.

Not unbeatable, but a lot difficult.

She's very talented and worked super hard to get to her level but she might have a moral issue taking people down.

I just got reimbursed by ACR, for just a fraction of what I KNOW they and colluders have cheated me out of over the past year. I’m as solid as they come, but you guys are absolutely right. This game is not played with integrity online. I know damn well from all the countless number of continuous bad beats on ACR, that what they reimbursed me was a complete joke to them, but whatever. The only tournaments that ARENT rugged in my opinion are the CardsChat tournaments. Just being honest.94A6EAB7 7D54 4B45 A9FD CCBA0ECFA5F7

For me, online poker is also more for fun than for earnings. But always a great desire to play plus. I have never taken part in a live tournament, as there is no such opportunity on my own. In the future I hope everything will work out. Because I really like poker. Good luck and good drifts.

The micros tend to be a raketrap. Without rb on ACR/ignition it is hard to beat

It's beatable but how many people can beat it for say 3k per month every month year in year out as their soul income to support themselves and family ?. If it's believed that somewhere around 5% of players win long term online what percentage of that 5% are pro? the number must be minuscule. The vast majority of online winning players aren't pro and cant use poker as their soul income.

Probably she no longer wants to be part of the responsibility for advertising pokerstars. A person has a conscience and she is eating him.

With the amount of rake and lack of promotion for grinders it certainly is very hard to be a consistant winner online these days.
