For me, I think that anonymous poker is bad for poker since it makes the game more of a gamble. Knowing your opponent adds more skill to the game and makes it more dynamic. Go to your local casino enough, or watch a SHR, and you see the same opponents. You make a mental HUD / notes on the regs, and adjust accordingly. Anonymous poker takes that away.

Anonymous Poker On line

I think the Anonymus poker is fairer competitive advantage in the online tools end up aiding and somehow more elitizando the field that ends up getting more standardized and over time will drive away more recreational players

For the grinders in online poker, HUDs and hand histories are a great tool to help study the game, look back on past mistakes, and create profiles against "regs" or even just who you are sitting at the table with.

But some sites have done away with that completely, in and effort to protect the new or recreational player from the shark, by instituting anonymous tables. Players are typically assigned a number, and don't even display their username. But does this really protect the fish, or does it help the sharks to hide in plain site?

Read our article: Anonymous Poker - What is it? and learn about exactly what Anonymous Poker is, and what it means for the game. Are you infavor of anonymous tables, or do you prefer to keep your HUD? Come back here and share your thoughts!
Hi Tammy. I can't stand playing at sites where it's Anonymous !!! I played at Bovada for a while, and then ignition. It feels so shady when the players don't have ID's and you're all in against "Player 3" lol. I don't even use a HUD or anything. It just doesn't feel like poker to me when you don't know who you're playing. I need accountability ha. Take care, and have a good night :star:

personally I do not like at all this anonymity at the time of playing, if I play in this situation I will have to do but not so comfortable, it is always good to have some information about your opponent, although for me this anonymity It is not an impediment, along the way you will always run into new players that you do not know and in the same way you have to face them.

My problem with online these days is the tracking software and tools have got really good ! If you don't use them playing online is not good choice as the Sharks will eat you alive ! If your going to play online I don't think being anonymous is any help but learning and using the tools sites allow will help your ROI .

I had this dream once, where everyone was anonymous but now seeing this text lead me to think some things, for example: who can guarantee that the players are real?
So far I have not gained anything expressive and I think that a game like this where everyone is anonymous can bring gains to any player. I think that removing this doubt if the players are real this format can be very good for amateurs and recreational.

Every time the Pokersites say they are protecting the recreational players they are lying this is just an excuse and change is to profit them somehow.

The regular players are the ones that drive the action and generate far more rake than recreational players due to the number of games they play.

What would be stopping the card room from putting in some in house bots on the anonymous table.

One of the biggest motivators in Poker is to test your skills against the pros this will not be possible on anonymous tables.

Finally if you play bad poker it does not matter if your opponent have a HUD or stats on you, good players will sniff you out quickly and eat you alive.

I think it is absolutely correct that many rooms allow you to keep your statistics anonymous. On the other hand, poker is such an unpredictable game that even the presence of statistics on the opponent does not give a guarantee for the victory over the opponent. I'm used to trusting my notes more, but they also sometimes play a cruel joke with me. Again this is because Ms. Luck is not always on my side.

One of the advantages of non-anonymous poker is that it is closer to the real thing. You get to know who's who and can strategize based on that info. That's a big plus to me. Otherwise you may as well be playing against a computer (or a bot, as they say).

I want to start by saying i think anonymous poker is a great thing for new players and for the game itself.I never used a hud,i took some notes on other players at the tables though,I'm a fan of old poker playing style where no one had a clue about huds and solvers,i think they do more damage than good for the game.i don't think huds should even be allowed.

mmm very interesting because nowadays, with just one click you are looking for all the information of a poker player, I think it is better to protect your identity and your poker history as many seek to take advantage of all this, some players want to pretend to be a fish but when what really are sharks and take advantage of the information that is handled today in the world of poker .. and how say article The beauty of anonymous poker is that each player can approach a game with a fresh identity and a new style without your opponents knowing who you are.

If it makes HUDs useless then as a HUDless player I am for anonymity.

All is true , but i keep on asking does anonymity mean you lose the ability to track players you suspect of collaboration . If so , playing anonymously is an invitation for all forms of cheating and these sites should be avoided like the plague .

I do not think that anonymous poker is a good thing. I like transparency in all the things, inclusive to the poker related.
We should know how the software works, how the tourney structure is and also who we are playing against, inclusive to we know who are at the other side. Because a simple aleatory number can be use by bots or by malicious players with multiple accounts.
It can be funny at the beginining, but I would not spend money on a no see table, against noones. Just to a play money in my case.

I only know at CC that some players play, but on other tournaments, they are all anonymous, for me, it's hard to play when you do not know how other players are playing, it's different in tournaments with big stakes, there players are already familiar, and they are professional and quickly read a new one player, whether it was a fish or a shark.

anonymous poker

I think that anonymous avatars at a poker game isnt good because it doesn't let you get background data on the other poker players at the table

It has its advantages and disadvantages, on the one hand you are a stranger and nobody knows your style of play; instead, you adapted to your opponent and his stats beforehand.

I've had the opportunity to play at an anonymous cash table, the advantage I can see is being able to change tables without people noticing your style of play. If you like to mix your style of play well, it is a great advantage, but if you are a predictable player who likes to spend a lot of time at the table, he will not find any advantages.

I only once faced this kind of game. Since I do not often play a cash game, it looks pretty good. But for players who often play cash games it will be a bit difficult, because no any players notes are shown.

Well I dont think anonymys poke sites make protection for new players or fishes cause it makes no difference because they dont get much infos anyway while playing poker because dont posses such improved skill as regulars. For the skilled players it is worse but anyway they can make some notes and reads while playing and making profit anyway.

Poker rooms relies on recreational players to gain profit, so this approach is in their favor!
On the other hand, recreational players could count on some protection, so it is good for them, too. So far, I see this happening only at cash tables, wondering is it also applicable for other formats???

While I don't mind a site being hudless, I very much dislike annonymous poker.
You need to have at least some sort of history vs the players imo so you can adjust to them a bit.

I agree with this ^

For me poker is a game where you're using the information you have and then making the best possible decisions from that. Personally I can't stand anonymous poker rooms & years ago I stopped playing on bodog when they went to the anonymous format.

Anonymous poker is better for recreational players and beginners at stakes where there are a lot of pros who seek out weaker opponents. This gives the weaker player a better chance of being at a table is more player of similar skill level.

I have mixed opinions on this. On the one hand, I do not think the Hud is essential for online poker. And I do not think that the fish is "protected" in this way, he will continue to lose his money in the long term, simply, the reg can not speculate with choosing the rivals against whom to play. What, from this point of view, forces regs to improve their level to be profitable since they will face many other regs without knowing it. However, I think that the hud is a great tool nowadays to analyze, understand and improve your game in function of your rivals.
