What do you think of wearing sunglasses at the table?

I feel it has pros and cons, after reading a book, I agree with at least the points of the pros of using them, which are:

1. Sunglasses allow you to observe a player without his knowledge
2. They do not give away tells from your eyes

I would really only consider them if I am playing against top class players personally.

The cons are as stated before, they make the cards harder to see.

I do not see myself using sunglasses, unless I am at a point where I feel I really need them for an edge...will be interesting to see if I really actually use them effectively where it matters.

Everyone does what he sees fit, as he is more comfortable. If a player at the table feels protected in sun glasses, then that is his right. Although for me this is not a guarantee of winning or losing, facial expressions can also betray your excitement at the table, because it is difficult to be completely without emotions.

I have worn sunglasses at the table a couple times in the past, however I usually don't wear them much anymore as I feel it takes away from the fun you should have at the table by kind of secluding yourself from the other players. To each his own though if they feel it gives them that competitive edge.

I personally don't like it. I don't think that players should be able to cover their face while playing. It hinders others' ability to read them, which I believe takes away from the spirit of the game.

Honestly, the majority of the players I have played against that wore sunglasses were actually not that good. They didn't bother to try to pick up on tells from other players because they were too busy trying to hide their own. They played way to tight and it was incredibly easy to tell when they had a big hand. The last time I hit up the casino the guy to my left was actually using his sunglasses to look at my cards so I had to tell him to grow and pair and then I stepped away from the table. Sunglasses displays lack of confidence to me and I will be more likely to exploit those guys without needing to see their eyes than the guys who are man enough to look me in the eyes before they bet.

Sunglasses are a good idea at the poser table, you can better hide your eyes from the eyes of others.

I agree with you here, Sunglasses are unfortunately legal in a casino poker game, but they not only hide their eyes, they also show a lack of confidence in the player using them, We had a player at our local pub who suddenly started to wear sunglasses at the weekly game, and he hardly ever won, he just thought it was helping him to look cool at the table and to stop losing so many times and it did neither.
He was ridiculed by the regulars and stopped wearing them after about 3 weeks because the better players would punish him on the felt, and always made comments about his glasses, not helping him, when he lost a big pot.
I bluff often in games where I know I am beat, but I would never resort to wearing sunglasses to hide my emotions, the only time I used them was when a friend bought me a pair of sunglasses with the weird looking eyes on them, the type Greg Rayner uses when he is all-in, and I only did it once for a laugh, after that I gave them away to one of my Grand children.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

hiding is a good option for those who don't know how to be a good faker and lie with their eyes, I think the best option is to try to become a good actor and pretend well

At the low stakes I dont think it makes a difference, most people I play are busy drinking and watching sport to pay full attention to the poker. None of them wear sunglasses so I would feel weird being the only one.

Sunglasses, strange but it seems to me a good option for players that you can read in their eyes what they can be doing and not only with their eyes, the movements with the face also some can be deciphered that they plot ,, , Good move the sunglasses and make us the mannequin in crucial plays ,, and I used glasses with dark lenses but I will take it as good advice ,, I did not miss out ,, luck and implement them as an excellent strategy ,,,

Sunglass

People who wear glasses at the poker tables are trying to hide their expressions to avoid being discovered when they have good cards or a bluff.

We really follow some patterns that can be "perceived" by certain bodily expressions, the problem is that you can also fake a lot (so about the glasses, i think it's a nice accessory)

I also agree with another point from the book, when you say someone can’t wear sunglasses, where do you draw the line. Can they then not wear headphones? Can they then not use their phone? Where does it stop lol

Players want to wear sunglasses to build confidence as they rise in stakes, without these players playing the game, the game becomes less profitable for all...

Amarillo is the best

I think glasses are beautiful accessories [emoji41], and when it comes to wearing them at tables, there are those who wear them and there are those who don't. It's also part of each player's type of game, I believe.

Glasses are often useful when playing online, so that the opponent will not read us :) But seriously, I have never used glasses in a live game, but I also did not play too much.

Amarillo Slim quote: "Son I've made a life out of reading people's faces, and knowing what their cards were by the way they held their eyes"
So what do u think about sunglasses culture at the poker tables?

Yes, sunglasses are very important in live poker, as they help by 50% in concealing the player's movement and reaction, especially in front of professional opponents in reading body language.

That's a very good way to conceal your tell signs

I think that wearing sunglasses at the table can be very effective, because it blocks opposing players from being able to read your eyes and understand their movements. Some eye tells are subconscious and can't be controlled, so they usually help deny information. At other times though, I think that some stares (like Phil Ivey's) are more intimidating without sunglasses on, but usually most beginners should wear them so their harder to read.
