Is YouTube, Netflix killing your game?

I listen to music as it keeps me entertained but keeps my attention focused on the tables

Not sure I would be able to fully concentrate with two screens at the same time

It happens to me with sports games, it is a mistake because we must focus only on poker, I am trying to correct that and not play when I watch matches, or play only freerolls or a single table of a pay tournament because you cannot play more concentrate 100%

I use youtube to study while im playing and it works, but if u are watching movies u can loose like 60% of the focus in the table so dont combine Netflix and your session

It has to Negatively affect my game somehow, since I am not giving it the attention it deserves.

I think I did a similar post/reply about this sort of topic in the past (can't remember).
I actually watch (or listen to) MotoGP racing while playing online. Something about the sounds of the engines and just overall it's sort of calming to me. Beats me!
When in a casino (so so so long ago) I have a setlist of music I listen to:
10,000 Maniacs - Hope Chest
MaxNormal TV - Good Morning South Africa (now known as Die Antwoord)
then just Random Bob Marley tunes ...
That's about it.

It sucks to say it, but I live in such a rural area that my internet connection, while reliable, is very slow. For that reason, I don't do anything else that requires internet access while I am playing poker. If I do, my poker client will start timing out and dropping hands. I don't even have my DirecTV connected to the internet.

I find it really bad to have some distractions while playing poker, but it really depends on the distraction.
If poker is still my principal focus, some distraction really get me relaxed for playing, but if is something that demands a lot of attention too, i get lost with my game and just sink.

i used to watch tv while playing but when i switched to music only and just like study beats with no lyrics thats when i started winning more. I like around 110 bpm, it gets me in the right groove.

Dude...I just stopped listening to music/shows and my game has gotten better.
Obviously it is better when you are focused <3 but sometimes simplicity is overlooked
Some days if my energy is not right, I will even meditate before a tourney but lol I am a dirty hippy

I don't think so. I use these sites to study and understand poker more even improve my game. I have a better understanding why people make what they do.

when playing cash games I usually do 4-5 at once.. so I have to concentrate no netflix .. youtube use to be a killer for me but not no more

It would, absolutely! I couldn't even listen to podcasts properly because I'm focussing on the games and how others play their hands. I think having distractions around loses equity.

not at all i only you it for music while playing poker. i believe eveyone has there own style of playing. and if we all played by the book we wouldnt have to play. Cause we would only bet with nutz lol.

youtube has helped me with all the valuable info out there, but i only watch during study sessions. Netflix is a no no while playing only thing i have on is electronic 110bpm music
