The hard ones are when I have pocket aces or kings, raise big pre-flop and some jack-ass calls with say 10/7 offsuit. They get 8/9 on the flop, then continue to call my big raises until they fish out a straight on the river. It’s those times I think the game is rigged and want to quit playing. Reality is, I just got unlucky playing a bad player and those players actually lose a lot of money.
To put it into perspective, before the pandemic I played poker with about 12 friends a few times a year. Lots of drinking and loose play. One guy is horrible. Will call pretty much any bet with crap cards. Similar situation happened above to me on the very first hand with against this guy. I had pocket aces, hit trips on the flop and he called big raises with nothing until he hit a flush on the river. I lost half my stack. I could have killed him. Instead I went outside, had a smoke, went back in with a smile and patted him on the shoulder.
