What does lucky mean to you in poker?

One great player said to win a big tournament you have to get lucky, and avoid being unlucky. Luck always factors in to this game.

For me "being lucky" in poker means three things:

1. Running above EV in all-in situations.
2. Being on the right side of the cooler (like set over set on a dry board, AA vs KK etc.).
3. Running good in terms of getting strong hands while your opponents have strong 2nd best ones.

I consider somebody lucky when they catch a 1 or 2 outer on turn or river.I also consider someone lucky when they flop something big that takes all 5 cards.Many lucky scenarios in poker.

For me, luck is to pass AK vs 99 or KJ vs 77 or 10 10 vs AJ. In certain stages of the tournament when you have to go allin.

I don't believe in luck.

But to answer your question, "Luck" for me in poker would be those rare times I will be on a heater, to play my big hands pre and post (AA, nut flushes, sets) against the worst fish on Earth, in order to win as many stacks as possible in the shortest period of time.

For me luck isn't something I can count on but I guess if I think about it, anytime I break even instead of losing is a lucky day.

For me lucky is to get to the final table and win a good prize, without been lucky it is impossible to win at a poker game. As Phil Helmuth says "If there weren't luck involved, I would win every time." haha
