What is your definition of a donk? I hear a lot of chat about this donk and that donk and just want to know the opinions of what a donk is.
A donk is word used by an individual(s) who could not handle losing a hand.

Someone that makes a low probability large all in bet or calls a large bet before the river and gets there despite bring a heavy underdog and then goes on to explains his reasoning which makes no mathematical sense to me is a donkey.
Also she/he appears very surprised when seeing what I have “ I didn’t know you were playing that!”
I wish I could change the rules and show Donkeys what I have so they fold before giving me the bad beat
I would add sometimes playing an unknown and they make unconventional betsizes like extreme thin bets and over bet the pot can be a sign of some really good or a donkey.

Anyone who relies on luck and passes off his/her suck outs as skill is a donk.
Lack of grace post-win is another indicator.
The truth is they're made to feel so small in the game because they haven't put themselves through the paces and they cannot be honest with themselves. It's the only way they can validate themselves and their egos.
I like donks at my table. My patience beats their sense of urgency and it's just a matter of time until I come around and give them the boot. These days I call out my targets before I knock them out and it makes the finishing move even more impressive.
Winners usually just breathe a sigh of relief and wonder, "What next?", after a big win. I like that attitude.

donk is a player who bets without being a preflop raiser. But this is more of a donk bet, but not a donk player himself. And it often happens that you are all in with AA, and the opponent answers with 23o and wins, the desire to call such a donk.

I think it means a player who makes the wrong decision to raise or call a raise being the underdog, and then hits one of his outs to win the hand. It has a negative connotation and I never use it to describe another player, as I found myself on both sides of the aisle. Also, I found the term itself a little peculiar since donkeys are stubborn, but quite intelligent animals.

Yeah, this pretty much sums up my view of what a donk (donkey) is to me.

The poker donkey has replaced the poker fish. In the olden days of poker (before 1999) the bad players were called fish. Now a days they are called a donkey.
A poker donkey is a bad player, or is he? A poker donkey is a gambler. Not just any old gambler though. The poker donkey will hit their gut shot straight, seven high flush, and miracle full-house after a fourth street flush. The poker donkey is a terrible gambler. The poker donkey will gamble with incorrect odds and hit their miracle card.
A poker donkey does not know any better. Donkeys like to play and they will get paid at your expense. You can expect to find a poker donkey at the lower limits of poker. Usually they will go on good runs of cards. The donkey will run so good that they will be mistaken that they are actually good at poker and berate other players to their fine playing skills.
But, like all donkeys they finally end up on the rail watching other donkeys play. The poker donkey will often be mad and sulk and blame the cards for the absolute terrible run of bad fortune. It is only then that the poker donkey will dig deep to gain knowledge of the game.
Whether you are playing poker online, playing a live poker tournament or playing poker in a casino watch out. There just may be a poker donkey sitting next to you.

I think fish and donk (or donkey) are 2 different things altogether.
I would consider a fish as being: someone that doesn't know what they are doing and will consistently lose their chips no matter how they play (you reel them in like a fish).
A donk (donkey) is more dangerous because: it's someone that sort of knows how to play and will push all in on sometimes decent starting cards and take out a more experienced player (who has better cards preflop). Donkeys in my opinion are more dangerous (I think of them as rearing their hind legs and kicking you in the teeth on the river).

Hmm the way I understand Donk is villain betting disproportionately to his hands.
1. maybe to get an action from the other party and make them risk their chips
2. generate folds since he knows other player most likely does not engage.
Tip: so or so it´s hard to assume playing online that anyone is arrogant or stupid. depends how much you have observed villain doing this and the conditions of your game.

A donk, is a player who has never studied.
He is a player who makes silly moves, such as check mini raise with nutz, or bluff.
Or when he has a straight or flus draw proyect makes mini bet, mini bet.
It is the classic player who always makes call with second pair or third, even with high A, because he thinks you are bluffing always obviously against these players have to play for value
