Seems to me I win cash in tournaments only to lose it in cash games.

it always depends on what you see as profitable. What do you play poker for is it just for the money or does it have other reasons? I prefer tournaments. Because I always combine that with a nice weekend with friends

Both types have the potential to make you rich ... or wipe out your bankroll. It's not the type of game but your personal preference and with which way you can play better yourself. If you are more of a patient player and have more time, MTT might be a better choice, if you like to play many tables at the same time, cash games might be a better for you.

It all depends on what you like and the means you have. Small tournaments do not earn much per hour so more profitable in Cash. But for me I prefer tournaments. I play cash at the start of the day and spend the money I earn in tournaments. This is my routine :)

It is a double-edged sword as you can win a lot and you can lose a lot

Personally, I prefer cash because you win more if you play well, but if you go on a bad streak, tournaments are more profitable and safe.

Whilst I'm still trying to build a good bankroll, I do not play cash games since I can't consistently play at my best and get out with valuable profit at microstakes. Eventually I lose. I love tourneys because I know how much it charged me, and how much more I might win. You know, there's a set time and stable game ongoing. So I prefer tourneys yet.:)

Well.. in my opinion it is two different types of games.

Cash you have unlimited losses and unlimited wins... So greater chances of big profits

Tournament you are limit to cost of ticket ( losses) and limited prizes

So take your pick. Either you go cash for greater chance of.big profit or play stable at tournament and control losses

There are more weak players in tournaments, they are easier to play with an exploit

In my opinion they are basically two different games. I have trained myself to play tournaments and have not had great success with cash games. Maybe someday, when I've perfected my tournament play, I might study cash games more, but as it is the little cash game I used to play was limit 2-4 Hold'em since limit is what I've always known with cash games.

Tournaments are more of a strategic game that requires less impulsive actions than cash games. Prefer tournaments to cash for this reason.

Definitely depends on what you prefer. I myself like both, but I find that you can make more playing a tournament. In a cash game you can only make how much is on that table, which in the end you more than likely won't do. Tournaments have usually hundreds buying in giving you a really big prize pool.

I think so too, there are a lot of very weak players in tournaments under $ 22, and they are very easy to spot and exploit.

Just make sure it's not.... we'll call them 'Cheat On Line.' Typical play, 1st hand of the tourney 2 minutes ago.. KK vs AK vs A9. Spoiler Alert. They cheat. Yep A9 with a friggin straight. I wish I had been raised to be a crook, like those nailbrains. How they roped in a respectable outfit like CardChat is beyond me.
Stick with the sit and go's, you can control the off shore rigs a little better, because once you're up you don't HAVE to play KK and AK and lose to K4 and T7. They want to trap you, but after awhile you learn not to fall for their ski mask and pistol business plan, imo. GL!

Tournaments are my cup of tea. Have lost so much playing cash games. When I could play on poker stars, I would frequently satellite into the Sunday Million for $11. At least 1 out of every 3/4 times I would min cash for $320+. Not bad for $11. The main thing about tournaments is one can only lose their entry fees. Way less pressure for me.

MTT can be profitable, I find it more profitable than cash games mostly because of the cash management that is inherent in MTTs. You just have to watch the rebuys.

Tournaments and SNG's for me. I can beat cash tables but just barely.

I play cash occasionally to practice deep stacked play and post flop skills but tournaments are my forte. If I could just improve my cash skills I'd be a great all around player and crush tournaments even better.
