Need both

You cannot win in poker without some luck. I have mentioned this before but coin flips are a part of poker. If you don’t win some coin flips during a tournament then you don’t win. It’s that simple. They cannot be avoided! So luck plays a role in every single hand. You flip a coin 100 times you get heads 50 and tails 50(theoretically of course). You know what I mean. We win because of skill but I guarantee you that luck had a hand in that win. My opinion.

Brain and skill are key in poker, but luck obviously helps. Sometimes, in the final stretch of a tournament, receiving good cards helps a lot, but it takes skill to play well with the good cards received.

Well, if the variance is large, a lot of players at the table, luck helps more than skill, I don't know why everyone says that skill is important by 80 +%

Personally I don't think all is luck. Luck is only 30% anything else is skill.

All the brains in the world won't save you from a coin flip with pocket 9s on 2 overcards with just 7BB to your name. Its just an inevitable part of the game, but I firmly believe that skill is much more enjoyable to win with.

Good afternoon friends....
I
make this post to know your opinions.
I firmly believe that luck in poker is a very necessary resource, but in turn very dangerous to use as a game system.
I await your opinions.
regards:)

You cant make it a long-term game without the brains. You can't win without a little bit of luck. The way I explain poker to my kids is that you have to use your brains, to create the best possible situation for your luck.

Today in the second leg I had a losing streak, with a pair of A's in hand, the opponent's pair of 10 makes three of a kind, but a percentage is always ahead of the brain!

Yea a lil bit of both i would say. There are percentages that make the difference about getting lucky in a hand. Its up to us to utilize that difference. Good luck.

Needs skill to get through the early part of a tournament.
Combine with a bit of luck, I would make it into the money.

Then there is more skill involved in calculating the EV's and making the right decisions so as not to lose the stack of chips to make it to the final table.

This is when a good run of luck at the right moment is definitely much needed.

Holding back to defend your position and choosing the right hands to play at the right moment is where skill is much needed.

With luck I could claim top spot.

Being able to consistently repeat the process and end up in the money in most of the tournaments I enter depends more on skill than luck.

When I play so many tournaments a day online, luck is definitely spread a bit thin I guess.

Good luck on your tables mate.

Actually it's a combination of both. And there is a lot of people who think that you can success in poker only with brain. And they are wrong: you can't success in Poker without luck. Try to win any tournament without it, you might succeed up to middle stage, beyond that you will need luck for sure.

Sometimes luck can help you win a key hand but relying solely on it for your performance is very risky.

Hello, Everyone! I'm not quite agree with this statement as Luck vs Brain... I think, better to say: the Great Combination
as Lady Luck, Good Brains, and also Animal Intuition gives wonderful results!.. Therefore, by my opinion, don't need versus different important qualities for that diverse Game as Poker... Contrary, these most of important qualities necessary right (by possibility) combine...:deal: And then all will OK! ;):):D

LUCK or Brains

NO such thing as luck. Its just ODDS. The longer the odds the less chance of success, If you know the odds and weight it against the possible gains then have a risk vs reward scenario. Pot odds / implied odds . If your risk is greater than your reward you have to ask your self this question.

luck helps, but skill helps more and keeps you consistent, a good aggressive strategy never hurt either :)

Luck is the first and most important, strategy after luck, you will certainly not earn much with bluffs which is part of the strategy (bluffs) in my opinion.

How many times have you seen AA crushed by a 10/8 off or suited connectors hit a straight and crushed by a boat? It is Luck pure and simple, when the chips are all-in it is down to the Pokers Gods to decide who wins and who loses.
It is unfortunate but true, there will always be an element of luck when you play any game of chance. The skill comes from avoiding these situations and waiting until you you know you have your opponent on the ropes and he calls your all-in with a drawing hand that misses. and that drawing hand beaten by you if it does catch.
Very hard to do and that is why it is a skill.
I have lost count of all the times I have made the nut flush on the Turn only to be beaten by his two pair catching the boat on the river when the board pairs. one of my favorite examples happened in a Live EPT game where Olivier Busque in danger of losing, pushed all-in with Ace/10, was called by pocket Kings and the flop came K,8,8 you might consider this safe but the Turn and River came A,A, giving Olivier Busque the bigger boat and he went on to win the Tourney out-right.
It is the luck element that makes Poker so much fun.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

We can't deny that luck is definetly part of this game, but having skill and the ability to foresee possible situations make you ready to overcome bad situation but also to enjoy and maximize the good ones.
