I know that I should really stop playing cashgames. Main reason is that I can simply not stick to my bankroll management and always start playing over my limits when I lose a couple of hands in a row. Also I experience a lot of bad luck on cash tables where I lose in my eyes too often with big hands. I also see that I play even more tight with very strong hands in situations where I should push and could get way more out of my opponent. I let my play change because of bad beats or setups. And in the long end this means losing for me.

I have noticed that my online mtt tournaments work out way better for me and only with this I got some winnings. So I will try not to hit the cashgames and concentrate myself on mtt tournaments more now.

Is there anyone with the same experience here? Please quote:)
I totally agree with you that I just play for sit and go and cash game.
Good Luck for new type gaming:icon_flow

The problem evaluating your play with cash games on line is that your results are unrealistic. That is, your e/v is negative on-line for the following reasons:

1) bots
2) colluders
3) colluding bots
4) the sites are designed to produce action to generate rake and
5) you’re not the best player

So with all those things working against you your result are going to be negative. This is very cash game specific.

HOWEVER! Just imagine how much better your results would be if you only had #5 to worry about!

ive always had the same problem. not much of a cash game player myself....I like to play tourneys like freeze outs and bounty/knockout.....I feel pretty comfortable in playing these....if I ever did play cash, my bankroll would probably go flat 0, maybe -$1.56 lol jk

Some people are better at tournaments than cash and vice versa. I think it depends on your style and personality. However, a few suggestions that I found helped me.

First I would take notes of how I am feeling during a cash game and when do I notice I start to change my play and why. Do I tighten up trying to protect profit? Do I play looser thinking I will catch my cards since I seemed to on previous hands? Am I down and trying to even up?

That will help some bring some insight on times that should have been non-adjustments. Being able to recognize those times when you are changing your game based on your emotions, and not what is the best for the game at hand, will help you from making a good situation a bad one, or a bad situation worse.

Another suggestion I recommend is setting a time to stop playing. Evaluate your situation. If you are up, can you continue to play effectively? If so, set a new time to play until, otherwise, walk away. If you are down. stop playing. Do not try to even up. Part of this exercise is learning to accept a losing session. They happen. One of the toughest things for me was learning to let a losing session go and not throw more money away trying to get ahead.

Yeah I know that feeling and the main point its that there are two diferent worlds in Poker, there are people who can play both and be reasonable succesful on both but that would only be in general.

I think every Poker Player should specialice on either Cash Games/Tournaments/Spins&Go. Depending on where they can manage their gameplays and strategies but, which one matches the best with your Poker Play, Time you play and several number of reasons.

Its completly normal to feel like you shouldnt be playing Cash games for ex. if you are losing and maybe on MTTs your quite sucesful o viceversa, in which way either you focu on your game and start working on your posible mistakes and trying to improve or focus where you feel the most confortable.

There are a lot of benefits to being a cash game player. For instance. Being able to pee when you need to. And also being able to leave it whenever a family member needs you or something comes up. For me personally I much prefer the flexibility of Cash. It’s less degenerate to your life. So think hard before you drop it. R

Cash games often go through situations where already on the preflop, when you have a good card in your hand like AK, AQ, AJ, or 88,99,1010, the opponent enters asking BB for 20x and the agent ends up paying and post-flop, disappointment comes, because the cards on the flop do not match those in the hand.
This situation occurs several times in cash games, as an agent always enters the game with 50BB and 100BB losing an average of 20BB and 40BB, we have already fallen and seeing the pressure to act ends up losing a lot of money.
Tournaments take place differently, as the objective is to reach the ITM, players bluff less, even because they are, it is much easier to call in tournaments and discover the blefer than in cash.
So to do well in cash gamer you have to have a bankroll of at least 1000x the limit you want to play and just play at that limit and go all in whenever you have a strong hand and in a favorable position at the table, making your opponent fold or you get it right, and if you lose, it won't be missed because your bankroll is 1000 x that limit and you still have 999 x

Cash

Yeah.. I agree. When playing cash games you have to have big enough bankroll. Once you have it, cash games can be really profitable.

For me It’s a bit difficult to change the strategy when playing cash or tournaments. I mix it too often

I think you have to decide what sort of player you are. Reliably making a profit in cash games involves a lot of play to account for variance, and playing at limits that your bankroll can accommodate. The strategy is quite different, and in general I find the grind of cash games pretty boring. I prefer tournaments.

Each player has his own game strategy and tries to make money from any game be it tournaments or cash games.

Great topic! LOL It is like the difference between Jr High And High School. Tourys are like Jr. High in the early and mid stages, easier to manage and simpler to navigate! Tourys become very similar to cash games when you get to the final table. You have to learn how to play against better players with more chips. And choices get harder as your blinds diminish. Similar to cash games where stack values are very different around the table. Knowledge of players tendency start to become a larger part of the game. And deception need to become a larger part of yours. Final table and cash games turn out to be similar.

The cash game is considered the poker top (even very successful tournament players may not beat it) - so don't be upset and play tournaments! Or carefully select tables for playing with weak players! Ultimately, we play to earn!

Thank you very much for your tips, my biggest problem today is bankroll management, bad bankroll management leads me to tilt tilt leads me to even worse bank management and this is my saga.

I can even keep the plan for a few days, but suddenly I lose everything. I find myself saying to myself, I'm going to take just one big shot, when I go to see it I burst and lost everything.
It's just a bad beat bro, try to study a bit more and have fun while playing. Of course we tilt, but try to convert this tilting times into fixing mistakes!!

У меня такая же ситуация. Я играю в МТТ, но параллельно открываю кэш-игры и теряю деньги, возвращаю их в мтт)))) я думаю заблокировать кэш-игры.... и тут возникает вопрос, Можно ли что-то сделать ?
this is obvious, play more MTT, and don't open tables. Watch yourself))) good luck!

I have the opposite problem. I'm good at playing cash games, but I can't play tournaments. In tournaments, I act more restrained. I'm afraid of losing my chips. And I get to the lowest places in ITM. I can't go any higher. I have never won a single tournament in my life))). Bad luck. No book or video will not help.
