I know that I should really stop playing cashgames. Main reason is that I can simply not stick to my bankroll management and always start playing over my limits when I lose a couple of hands in a row. Also I experience a lot of bad luck on cash tables where I lose in my eyes too often with big hands. I also see that I play even more tight with very strong hands in situations where I should push and could get way more out of my opponent. I let my play change because of bad beats or setups. And in the long end this means losing for me.

I have noticed that my online mtt tournaments work out way better for me and only with this I got some winnings. So I will try not to hit the cashgames and concentrate myself on mtt tournaments more now.

Is there anyone with the same experience here? Please quote:)

I've had a similar run at cash games, and MTT is better especially at the low end of players. A lot of the microstakes cash tables have players who are reading a book or two and referencing strategy guides to improve play. For example, I found .10/.20 games a bit harder than $1/$2 gmes because so many at the lowest level were using that tier to improve their game, and were pretty decent, while a bit further up the players were more "soft." Sometimes you gotta mess around with different levels and find the right table.

Re

I had the same experience especially on sites like pokerstars where the .10 .25 games are much harder then .50 1.0 blinds where I found way more gamblers. On party poker however I sometimes have players at 1-2 cent blind tables just crushing me with big hand playing like a pro. I found this something to learn from but have the feeling that there is a lack of fish at the tables and it can get really rough to play;)

Poker is complicated, a lot more of us imagine, we have the misconception that we will make a lot of money with the sport of mind because we deceive ourselves with other profitable players, we want to be equal to them but unfortunately it is very far from our reach. We can even win for three consecutive days plus the end is tragic.

I never linked my credit card to any poker sites so the only cash games I play are from donations and winnings. If I played a cash game again I'd play knockout so I'd get paid for each person I wipe out the game.

The ability to stick to your chosen BRM strategy is the main thing that distinguishes a successful player from all other fish. If you do not adhere to the limits, you will always lose, sooner or later. It doesn't matter if you are playing cash or tournaments.

If tournaments are more convenient for you to save your bankroll management - of course, play tournaments!

I will tell you a secret. You probably don't put much volume to mtts, that's why you think it's an easy piece of cake. If you don't stick to brm in cash games then you can have big mentally problem when downswing will go for you in mtts. And variance in mtts can be brutal. But if you play it for fun just play mtts. But be prepared mentally that someday you can have same problem like in cash games.

I'm a gambling man, but in my environment there are no people who share my interests. I try more often to play free casino games: https://mr.bet/casino - this is my compromise with myself.

First, don't beat yourself up for this. Its common. Being properly rolled for a level means you're probably playing at stakes that aren't interesting to you. You look at your balance and you have $137 then you look at the your 2 cent big blind and have a hard time feeling excitment. Many of us want each hand to feel like we're at a final table pondering a decision worth 40 buy ins.

It's called grinding for a reason.

Play shorter sessions and bail when you start thinking you have the bankroll to move up (until you actually do). Set very clear prerequisites to moving up and stick to them. I use 30 buy ins as the trigger for my play style. If I buy in to a game that I don't have 30 buy ins for, that when I start scolding myself until I play the game I'm bankrolled for.

70 dollard). I managed for a while to make profis in NL5 and to resist the variance in multitablant. I learned a lot of strategy that I managed to use later. How to play an AA pair and succeed in creating value on this hand in the long run. I improve my bluffing and the frequency of my raises. But in the final, when we do not have the 50BB necessary to play cash game. If we do not make mistakes. We are extremely vulnerable when we suffer too much bad beat.I think that MTTs of 0.55 or 1 dollars are actually easier to make profitable even if the variance plays a more important role on your result. Personally I have always been better in MTT but the cash game will always remain the most Quick to make profis if you have the chance to hit the good cards.

It seems to me to be just the opposite. I just do not seem to have the patience to wait
it out in tournaments, and I do better at cash games. I need to stay away from tournaments.

Well ... I'm sorry that you've gone wrong at the cash tables ... however I congratulate you for recognizing and accepting that you must stop playing at the cash tables since you always lose ... and in these moments the best thing is to concentrate on the tournaments ... well for you ...!

I think cash games are not your problem. You have a problem with bankroll management. You should train your mental state and think about why do you have a problem to stick in your plan. Changing a game type is not a solution. Of course, it is a good way to prevent yourself from boredness, but you will face that same problem there also.

Seems you are good enough in playing poker. Now you should start to improve your self-discipline and patience. Which are your goals? When is decline to achieve them? Why are you even playing poker? Which are your goals for today, this week, this month?
Those are questions you should ask yourself. How serious are you achieving your poker goals? If you are serious enough, you have written down your specific goals with a decline and sticking in your game plan no matter what. Believe me, I have been there, and it wasn't fun.

My recommendations to do. Start to google about bankroll management and study as much as possible, and of course, take action.
Following the rules is very important to achieve goals. Write them down with a decline, analyze them regularly, put a note on your fridge door to see that everyday and visualize you are already there spending your poker millions. Read: Brian Tracy: Goals!: How to Get Everything You Want Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible.

Makes any sense? :)

I have never heard this story... I lived it myself SO many times! I like cash game more than S&G or MTT, but since I can't control myself, I end up not playing cash games anymore. I went so far to ban myself from them.

So addictive...

Tnx for your reply. It has a lot to do with getting bored also.:D Other aspects in life also play a role in wasting bankrolls haha. I love gambling and also go to casino every month. When playing poker cashgames it can be that I just want to make a quick buck while realising I could better hit the roulette and have some dumb luck or not:p. Tournaments on the other hand are more a challenge to me because I just want to stay as long as possible:). Bankroll management.. yeah I guess I will just never be caring enough to stick to that:D but love poker for a fact. It is the kick you get from it.

Yeah. Winning poker is a very boring and hard job to do, and take years to achieve that level when you can make your living by that, and there are still many those days when you wanna throw your laptop out of the window

I agree, you have already figured out your mistakes, so you have already done step 1 to work on your weakness. Try forcing you harder to reach your goals and quit playing, when you're on a loosing streak. Set limits for winning AND losing, and you'll be fine...
