WOW WHY CAN'T EVERYDAY BE SUNDAY... ZOMG :)

because then we'd never get our mail delivered
school children would never go to school
school teachers would never teach
hardly any banks would ever be open
during american football season half the players would be dead by the 10th game
everyone would be confused all the time... "i'll see you on sunday" = ????
calendars would be stupid looking

...oh wait that was probably one o' them rhetorical questions

Pulled a great read today in a home game. Tournament style blinds 1/2 with 25 chips each. I know, I've told them we need to go deeper. Not happening.

I'm in the BB (25) with 73o. Button (25) limps, SB (18 chips) completes. Check.

789 with two diamonds.

3 checks.

Turn is an 8.

The SB is bluffy, he bets two chips. I call. River is a 4c.

SB bets his remaining 14 chips, he is all in.

I just had such a read on Sb as someone who value bets their big hands that I just had to call and I didn't think he was thinking "this overbet will look suspicious" so I made the call and he had nothing.

I'm just proud because ever since starting Omaha I've began to doubt my hold'em skills.

Glad I found this thread, was wondering why the general monthly chat thread had died out.

Too bad my cash game fail over the last couple months has bummed me out. After running good there for a bit, variance (and my sucky skillz) hit me upside the head. I dropped from 9-12 tables to 2-4 tables, and from 50NL to 25NL, but couldn't seem to catch back up. Part of my problem was forcing myself to play when I didn't feel like it, to make higher Ironman levels or punch the TFPT clock. But now that I made Iron one month and Silver a couple months, and with Stox gone and me not liking CR much so I don't care about TFPT anymore, I've taken a hiatus from cash and am playing tournaments again. Doing fairly well in the CC league, I've had one win and a couple of deep finishes, with our team is in 2nd place currently. Also had some wins and deep runs in other CC events and MTTs. I'm 12 for 14 or something ridiculous like that in DoN's on pokerstars -- those are like printing money, it seems really hard to lose.

Maybe hanging around you guys again will get me back in the cash mood, but I just seem to run better in tournaments. In the last half of last year I made over $10K in tourney winnings on FT alone, while I've lost over $2K playing cash this year. The funny thing is that I actually prefer cash. Sometimes I just hate tournaments and still I seem to do better in them.

Tournaments will forever put me on life tilt. Even though I'd say I'm up on tournies, I came second in one and haven't played many, they just tilt me so bad. The thought of getting to the final table and winning $200 instead of $2000 makes me want to kill things.

EDIT: Also the fact that if I had won the HU (I had a chip lead but it was basically flipaments with the blinds) I'd have 2/3rds again what I won. Sigh.

Haven't played a tourney since January and I'm completely crack poker free for 2 months. I'm starting to feel like myself again. Food tastes better and I can feel my body getting stronger.

Remember kids, crack poker kills.

^^^ LOL, I had my fill of crack poker at about day #2, when I lost my 5th BI or so at it. I just couldn't adjust, it was insane.

Yes, but it gathers FTP points so easily when you need just a few ....

.. okay, I'm not totally free yet myself

I've played crack poker only for the last two weeks and it's great, tbh. And I think I'm getting better at it too.

What is everyones beef with Rush poker?

I used to play it a lot. But I quit after some fairly massive swings. Not sure if it was just variance magnified by the volume, a swingy period or what... But I went up down up down and eventually got off after a nice .

Now I am honestly too scared to swing so hard anymore. ;)

When zach did his "$15k in a month at 100nl" prop bet almost exclusively at rush poker, he didn't swing like crazy. IIRC, he didn't have downswings of more than 10 buy-ins, and that was over a very large sample size, obviously. So there are certainly style of play that don't lead to higher variance for rush.

The huge plus of rush is the immediate availability of tables and the possibility to take a 2 minutes break without having to go through the trouble of starting tables again, imo. That's a convenience that you really miss when you move back to the regular tables. Also, rush tables are not tracked by PTR or hhsmithey, and it's reassuring to know villains are not using more intel about you than you have about them.

I'm gonna get this answered once and for all.

When a person is winning at say 5bb/100 and is "killing it" (assume low/mid stakes) is that Big Bets or big blinds?

I've turned $2.60 in to $40 by using the well known and respected "1 buy-in rule".

The question is, 2nl? or $1k or bust?

EDIT: $50

I'm also open to different plans than 1-buy-in, now at $55, probs go to 50PLO now.
