Oh, and to dmorris and everyone else who's been kind enough to indulge my cry for sympathy: I appreciate it, guys. I'm going to quit whining now, though, because it won't do me any good and I'm determined to look forward, not back, from here.

Unless someone has a time machine to lend me.

Another two buy-ins down! This time, however, it happened at Rush 5NL, so I'll survive. Yeah, I guess I can see how some people would get addicted to Rush, but... Engh, made my eyes hurt. Not my game. I want my opponents to stay put.

Just because I'm having what must be my first tilt-free week of online poker ever (wont last), I know all about this tilt avoiding stuff. j/k

1: If you're going to make adjustments, nit it up. When in doubt, fold.
2: Remember that when variance catches up with you (meaning that it evens out) the only part of all of this downswing you're going to care about is the hands you screwed up, because variance doesn't matter in hindsight, it's just "even", but tilty decisions you can't take back.

You know this, everyone knows this, but it's easy to forget in a downswing.

FWIW, I like it when your a bit harsh C9, it has always made me rethink my thought process and force me to ask better questions. Makes me laugh at times too. I like finding out how wrong I am cause then I learn something and my game gets better. That goes for all yall.

experts like you and Belgo and WVH ...

Just wanted to quote this for my own ego and to say this is sadly so far from being true. I don't belong in that company.

Thanks anyway sir.

you need to select fade and not slide. slide makes you want to puke.

From a purely, purely selfish perspective this is tough to hear; as if our own version of Tiger Woods started having problems with his swing.

All-in-all, I'm looking - or, honestly, trying to look - at this as a learning experience. What kind of tendencies did I start to show when things went rough? Did I feel angry at the reg who kept stacking me? Was I trying to exact revenge on him instead of focusing on the fish? Did I play longer sessions than I should have? Did I quit while ahead immediately? Etc.

Yeah, keep writing/blogging/analyzing it, for future benefit. I think the more you can capture the experience now, the easier you can relive it in the future and draw upon it, as well as to retain learnings to carry forward, imho.

Me neither

Don't be so hard on yourselves :)

And FPaulsson, I hope you get out of your downswing, and even if tilt wasn't/isn't a huge factor in your game there is a huge amount to be gained from Eightfold Path. In general, as a micro player, DC has been a great resource, some great content and from watching some higher stuff i'd say there's a lot that (almost) anyone could benefit from

Oh. Didn't know that was an option. Yes; did want to make me puke.

Maybe for shits and giggles I'll try to build a Rush bankroll with the $97 I have on FTP. See if I can run it up to $1k with some kind of 20BI bankroll thingabob.

So Belgo, I'm curious. Do you rely on hud-stats to play rush?

When rush first came out I was drawn to it by the inherent hudlessness. The game seemed a little 2d with so much less reliance on good reads on player tendencies, but there was a sort of mathematical beauty to me, and I also noticed that with a little notes and a good memory I could sort of get a read on the pool. I liked this balance.

Then the HUDmakers adapted, and the players slowed down a little as they sat and waited for stats to show up. I was disappointed, and subsequently I have been playing less, though occasionally I will dip into a little 5nl.

How do you approach the game?

I use HEM's hud, I color code the 4 tablers before starting a session, and I pause my tables after each pot where I think I need to review my decisions or take notes.

But I'm probably not the one whose example you should follow. I'm only beating 100nl FR rush by 0.12BB/100 over 61k hands, which is really nothing to boast about. On the other I think I've been improving lately, so maybe there is hope.

GAWD. After missclick folding a set of As VS a spewtard in my first hand at my first table where all but .40 from our stacks had gone in the pot(dont ask how I pulled that off) I proceed to hit the absolute top of every 40/5's range I play.
- 35BB/100 for 650 hands. NBD.
