Well there you go you got that losing session back already!.

Re the hands....I wouldn't flat call QJ in the SB unless the opener was REALLY BAD, again it's giving away both position and the initiative, try to remember to keep one or the other unless you have a plan for the hand straight off the bat, like a planned turn overbet lead. Remember flat calling oop without the initiative is burning money unless you are looking to trap with a strong hand or think your range is well ahead.
As played you have no clue what you are up against so folding is prudent to that value looking sizing....but you don't want to be the player calling in the dark, you could have 3bet here and probably got 2 streets of value. As played, off of his vpip he could have anything, total air and just be barreling.

AA hand. Well its not really that wierd, the whale is just using the naked flop float hoping you don't have a jack and thinking he can take it away from you when you check....lets say you had something like K9 here, are you calling then?

Well, he WAS really bad. I have quite some hands on him, and was playing about 300 hands with him at that specific table there, so I guess I was a bit deeper into the game than explained.

Anyhow, I totally agree with you saying that hands such as QJ are a definite 3-bet OOP; the hand talked about above was an exception.

BTW, here is the result of my today's session:

original.png

Other than a casual AKs vs AA and KK vs AA preflop, I was honestly crushing the tables. Literally got it, killed the fish, and got out. Unfortunately only 1.5h the games were running (and forming around certain fun players).

Perhaps I'll play another session - I'll keep my eyes on the games running. :icon_bigs

Some interesting hands:

#1 - put him on a combo-draw, and allowed him to bluff on the river. For some reason his hand felt quite obvious to me, and I did make the right read. Anyhow, what do you think?

2 more late night sessions on the 17th / 18th

Not really much to talk about in terms of hands (fairly standard spots) - I am continuing to hunt whales and fishes. :icon_sant

I'm new to this site, not new to poker but just recently got back into it after a year or so out and I just gotta say, this thread is great and just what I needed for the motivation that I've been lacking.
Thank you and good luck on and off the felts 😊

I had to look at the hand 3 times! What in the $@#% is SB doing dude? Wow.

Nice hand anyways. We caged him, somehow, when he has no pair/no draw. He busted out.

Today's session + first 11k hands graph

Got some hands in today. Overall it was nice, except for the very last hand. I should have folded there on the river... Anyhow, here are the results, the hand + the overall graph, respectively:

I honestly don't know if I like calling the 3b pre. We could be against KK, or just something like 99+. (do we get paid A high boards?). We pretty much have to proceed with extreme caution post if we call 3b pre, because of reverse implied odds, and also we miss flop like 2/3 of the time, so then we fold a bunch, maybe/maybe not end up floating once, etc.

We don't have the initiative here. One could argue 4b pre, meh don't like that either. D
I think Doyle Brunson and Norman Chad both hate AQ.... I digress.

However, we are suited. If he bets twice on A-10-10-X, yeah I feel icky about A-Q there....

I probably fold turn, or pre cause I'm kinda nitty and hate calling/reacting to aggression.

That's pretty much all I got. I play live and it's against passive players who just have it all the time, so my advice could be bad for online, so yeah take it with a grain of salt.

AQ
Stats bro. If he's a looser type then the turn is a prime spot for a min raise to freeze the river and get a cheaper showdown.

Make the min raise on the turn, then turn and river combined costs you 2.16. As opposed to 1.08 plus 2.16 as played.
This play freezes their river bets. If they still bet river then it's an easy fold. Sometimes weak players might even fold AK on the turn fearing trip T

Going back to the graph. A month of two halves...you had it going great up to 7k of hands.
22/18 with 9% 3bet looks good to me. Post flop aggression is ok at 2.23. John likes to see somewhere in the ideal range 2.7-3.5. But you are still better than me here.
Ok wtsd is a little bit high at 29. You want it down between 24-26. The effect of showing down too much can be seen in your $won at showdown which is under 50 you want to be in the range 51-54.
So to achieve this call down less when there are a lot of strong hands in their ranges. bluff less against the fishy stations but bluff more against the thinking regs on scary boards. And make a decision and plan for the hand on the flop.

Ugh, a major leak I feel I have is that I tend to overthink vs. fish in some spots, which end up with me calling down relatively light on rivers. Overall, the decision making and focus seems to be all there, so I'm just gonna continue the grind. Thanks for the input! As ever, it's greatly appreciated and taken with high regard, my master. :icon_bigs

Hey really nice to follow! I dont know if this has been asked before but did you make those graphs yourself or is it possible to see them at 888?

Thank you very much, sir! No, the graphs are not available at 888. I am using a 3rd party software named "Hold'em Manager 2", which is a Heads-Up Display (HUD). It tracks all opponents tendencies, as well as my own, along with the winnings / losings and MUCH more stuff. I highly recommend any HUD, if you want to play online even slightly seriously.

As for today...

Today was a very nice day, in which, I feel I made some silly mistakes (will be shown below), while overall playing quite solid poker, as the graphs will show.

I played 2 sessions, of about 3.5h total.

The hands I wanted to share:

#1: what do you think of the line I took on the turn? I felt that all the nutted hands should be calling the raise.

#2: Probably a standard, yet sad fold on the river by me. I literally only beat KK there. My mistake was my preflop flat call - I should have 3-bet instead. That way at least I would've known where I stand.

#3: The silliness I was talking about. As soon as that donk bet came out of him on the turn, I knew I was ahead of stronger aces most of the time. Yet the guy was a complete whale (72/19), which... I guess made me make an exception in my brain to NOT make that standard fold on the river.

Pacific, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

Sum of the last 2 days

Yesterday was very rough for me - lost AA vs AKs 3 times (all all-in preflop).

original.png

I knew that I didn't play my best. However, I knew that I lost mostly due to coolers.

Now, today... Well that was a completely different story. Guys were paying off my river overbets (when I had nuts), folded to my bluffs and just were outclassed by me, haha.

Tried to keep the good run, but.. poop, haha. Ran super cold today - cooler after cooler. Lost KK vs QQ (all-in on 47Tr flop).

Lost KQ vs KJ (board: KJQ4J)

And a casual AKs vs TT flip.

Didn't really have enough time to make mistakes, haha, as I only played 25min. As I reach my 3.5BI limit, I will take a break, and look into some more fishy games in the evening. If those don't run, then I won't play today.

The hands I wanted to share:
#1: what do you think of the line I took on the turn? I felt that all the nutted hands should be calling the raise.

I'd bet 2/3 pot on the flop its just a betting sizing for cbets, when its for value you build a bigger pot and when its a bluff its slightly harder to continue against with weaker holdings
I think a raise on the turn is mandatory, as he folded he's probably trying to bluff with a weak draw, his sizing also suggests he wants a fold. When you ship it the odds aren't good enough for him to call it off.
Having said bet bigger your half pot betting might actually have helped induce this raise here.
You could just call in position but if he was drawing and whiffs you probably dont get anything more. As we have the nuts perhaps the answer is just a click back min raise to give him irresistable odds
.

#2: Probably a standard, yet sad fold on the river by me. I literally only beat KK there. My mistake was my preflop flat call - I should have 3-bet instead. That way at least I would've known where I stand.

I don't agree that you only beat KK here there are a lot of draws that whiff on the end.
The aces are heavily blocked.
It's 4 handed and he's deep on the button he's going to be massively wide opening here. He could have spade draws, 67 and all the 2pair combos.
The bigger their stacks the more I tend to believe they are capable of betting whiffed draws on the river especially when in position and you checked.
The turn raise is concerning though, stinks of Baluga, so its probably a set as raising the turn with a draw here is above 5nl thinking.
I still think the river is closer than you think but it depends on his stats which you haven't posted. In a vacuum agree with the fold.
I agree a 3bet would have been better to define the hand more, but that deep he's probably still calling 3bets pretty wide.

#3: The silliness I was talking about. As soon as that donk bet came out of him on the turn, I knew I was ahead of stronger aces most of the time. Yet the guy was a complete whale (72/19), which... I guess made me make an exception in my brain to NOT make that standard fold on the river.

It smells like he picked up 2 pair and or some sort of equity possibily with a flush draw. Alternatively we now know he's just so bad that he fancies his top pair medium kicker for value.
I'd go straight to the stats and see how often he donks the turn and bets the river and look at his general agg levels. That is where you will find the clues as to whether to fold.
It's not any easy spot, the flush draw coming in would concern me after the donked turn.

An update on my progress

I have been played over 25k hands now, and wanted to share with you my graph + stats. I have made some adjustments to my postflop, as well as preflop play, which have made some changes in my thought process, which are quite nice. I don't want to get into the specifics, however, I can say that, very generally speaking, I have:

1) Become more selective preflop (re-visited my preflop openings from all positions).
2) Become more assertive about hand quality during a hand. Hence, become more dynamic in my game.

So here is the chart, along with the stats:

*Mind you, that I only play 5nl (for now), and only 6-max.

Can anyone fold this? I did put him on surprisingly many Aces there, but I just couldn't fold. Is a fold here even profitable? He has only so few combos (KK, AK, AQ) that beat me.

I'm curious. I'm just really starting. I've been playing a long time, but am recently what id call near winning. How many hours a day do you play? How many tables are you playing at once? I've played 2k hands and won about 6 bucks at bet online 2/4 cent games.

Usually, on work days I play about 2h / day + 30min - 1h studying (reviewing / discussing my hands / watching instructional videos), whereas on weekends I tend to play a bit more: 3-6h + 1 - 1.5h studying.

I play 2h sessions, and I take a mid session 5-10min break (after the first hour). Good luck with your game! This forums is a great place for learning. :)
