It just means you don't know how to adjust your agression according to the games. Cash games play with a certain type of aggression, different from tourneys where the aim is to cash/last longer.

I'm starting to realize something about other players now a days. People seem to limp with small to mid pocket pairs in tourneys and raise huge pre in cash in early position. Back in the day wasn't it the other way around? I don't know. Maybe I'm unorthodoxed or maybe just old school style. I just play instinct. I try not to play hands the same everytime I get em.

Game is same, but strategy different

I believe in competition as opposed to cash games should be more restrained.
But cached enough to raise a little pond and all will fall

i believe if you think you are a good reader of your opponents, you should be playing cash better. because cash is more about observing your players, you can play any two. you don't have to calculate your odds by playing cash more about you should calculate whether you can bluff him or not on river.

cash is skill, tournament is strategy and discipline. that's why a player like dwan excels at cash games but rather suck at tournaments.

One idea at the cash game tables to keep in mind is a strong winning image will help you a lot also. This is true in a tournament but sometimes players have no choice there or tables break etc. If you settle in to a cash table and are playing for a while and you are winning you can get away with murder. If you are losing you will be under siege and may as well find a different table.

tournaments people all-in like crazy, so its mostly luck till you've got deep stacks

Cash games you need a strategy to profit

Potluck, the point is, that if you have no idea of what you are doing, you are more likely to make a profit playing a tourney as opposed to a cash game.

Why do you suppose that is marginal?

If a cash player in here can tell me when shoving with negative cEV can be positive $EV then ill agree that cash is harder...

But to me, they are different games. Apples and oranges. Often a player that is good at one can play profitably in the other... But that doesn't make one harder than the other. Cash you can get a good idea of your win rate after 10k hands. Tournaments you need about 1k tournaments just to get an idea and they usually have 300+ hands each... So you need a quarter million hands to get an idea of your tournament win rate...

Cash requires good discipline in every hand. You have to play very tight to begin and you can't make moves the same way as you can in tournaments

Cash Games and MTTs are very different and require different poker skill sets as you said. Once getting used to tournaments and how to play them, its probably very difficult to transition into cash games when you probably haven't had much practice with cash. Blinds stay the same, pressure doesn't fluctuate, bets can be confusing, and people can leave with a profit or a loss whenever they want to. My guess would be that you're having trouble with cash games because you probably haven't played quite enough, and simply need to learn the style and get more used to gameplay. But if you're looking to make more money faster, which I would assume you are, I think increasing the quantity and possibly buy in price of tournaments would be the best move. If something isn't broken, why fix it? If you have success in MTTs and enjoy doing it, then stick with it and don't waste time and money playing cash games. goodluck

Just remember in cash games there is virtually (blinds still) no pressure to jump in unlike tourney play so don't worry too much about folding if you're unsure.

All the same))in tournaments is often in the prizes bankroll grow little by little everything turns and goes up the hill...but as soon as I go to cash games so start something incredible))all that is earned in tournaments out here as soon as did not try to play aggressive and tight and the map and bluff all the way past, lose 5$ play 2$ will lose again 5$ will play 3$ then just go out and play in the tournament, although cash games attract fast dynamics is interesting especially zoom there at all fast. That's how we live)))

Im the opposite site man. Im bad at tourneys, but in cash games and live games im times better. Sometimes probably im pre-thinking the situation too much and thats make me do mistakes. Of course all do mistakes and also all are learning from them. You have to learn from yours more than them, and probably will improve your game. :)

world series of poker champion Dan Harrington once made a great analogy: “Tournaments are basically a lottery,” he said. “Some players are so poor, they’re in the lottery but don’t have a ticket. Maybe the average player has one ticket. A really good player has two or three tickets, and a great one has five or six. But you’re still in a lottery.

Is the same game but very different :D in tournaments u have to pace yourself, play premium hands to give yourself better chance to double up, u also have to have good pre flop game, u get a lot of info with good preflop hand bout your opponent hand, cash game on the other hand u can almost play every hand, and the key word in this game is aggression, play as agro as u can, if u lack aggression in your style of play i would recommend exactly cash game, i was NIT player b4 i start playing cash games, not my style is cut throat agro, i lose a lot of players when i play like that, coz most of players are NIT`s, but when some1 decides to follow u, U R GARANTEED a double up :D
