Ive played live poker first time this week and I was surprised by the number of showings... personally, I dont like, and sometimes it might been disrespectful as well.

Once again, by showing your cards, you will give your opponent more information about your game strategy, which they try to hide in every possible way in poker.

You can't be sure that a particular player isn't playing a hand just to find out the specifics of your game. Perhaps he didn't get any clear information, and then you opened up and showed him everything for free.

Rarely

I rarely show my cards, I don't see much advantage in showing them, although in a bluff your opponent can be confused in other hands.

I will show my cards if it is being done by some at the table. I will also show my cards to try to put some doubt in the minds of the players at the table (misdirection). However, I do not like to show my cards.

Depends on the situation, could be good to get a good impression, and then get the goods when needed.

Only on showdown, if it's possible to muck, I will.

It really depends.

Sometimes I will show a bluff, if I intend to not be bluffing the next hand. Or I will show my cards if I am playing people I know really well.

I know that it might feel good to show a good bluff when you make, but I don't think it's a good idea to give your opponents information. I suppose it might be useful in some situations though.

I sometimes do, when I want to display a certain table image or when I want to make a player tilt.

Only when asked to do so. Mostly I do not show. My rule is simple "pay and see" :)

I do not open the cards before discarding, putting them into the deck. I do this because I consider it unnecessary to advertise my actions, be it a bluff or really got into a combination.

Depends

I'll show my cards if its a low stakes home game because the social aspect comes first in my mind at least. However, I usually don't show my cards because giving away free information is giving your opponents an unnecessary advantage. However, this comes with an exception. If I just ran a bluff and win and I know I am going to start fighting it up, I will show my bluff in order to entice more calls if I have a monster.
