You are not stupid or worst player, just inexperienced. Your problem is that you doubled your deposit and you still played.
I deposited 10 dollars one month ago and now my bankroll is 100 dollars. My secret is that I quit playing early enough. I have played thousands of hands this month. You are too concentrated on that one session. Just made a new deposit and learn to quit when are you on winnings and if you lose, lose small.

Unlucky, yeah. But I've seen worse. In a tournament I was very short stacked on the button. When there were no bettors I went all In with 23o to steal the blinds. The BB called with AA, and he lost! Now that's BAD LUCK!

If you read well, my bankroll was $ 40 !!! I call all in with KK in my hand. He had A 3 ... total pot was 21 $. What did you do? Folded?

Besides the fact, that you were playing for off your Bankroll, the move was correct. But when you invest a bunch of money on the second best hand, you should be prepared from the beginning that an Ace shows up and your opponent for sure is not playing 72o at these stakes.
So try again, try lower stakes, so you have more chances to build up. In case you wanna get rich in a day, play slots or lottery. Never forget: everybody at your table is playing POKER and risking their money on their knowledge of the game AND THE OPPONENTS.:eek2:

This is very common for online play. Live you'll rarely catch this unless you've been raising frequently and he believe Ace high is best. Regardless of that your biggest problem is that you're playing way above your bankroll. If you're looking to just run up a ton of money off $20 it can happen but I've done that and lost it just as fast as I made it. Playing the smaller stakes and working your way up is the best way to get a feel for online play. When you play with only $20 how are you going to reload so that you can take advantage of the play you just saw?

To be honest if you are just playing poker for the first time and haven't experienced this kind of situation I wouldn't call you stupid, just naive. If you play long enough I would bet with 100% certainty that you could play every hand as perfectly as humanly possible and still end up losing. That's the game, you better be prepared for the mental anguish of poker if you want a chance of feeling the high of winning.

That's OK. But your mistake is that you built your bankroll wrong. You climbed on huge limits and in a few unsuccessful hands lost all their money. Remember-there will always be cranks playing A3O and they don't care about the rules.

Good part here is you lost only 20$ which is not bad. Many get intimidated by bad beat and lost more. Just remember no hand is good until the turn. hope you can control the game in the future.

You know, the way some folks play, you can get scared off of a superior hand just because it's kinda middling.

You are normal.
First, you had TILT OF WINNING
And yr Ego said 'You are the God of poker!"
After you had TILT OF LOOSING and yr kid inside said "I was so good... it s just a bad luck! I will crash them and take my money back!"

if you cash in with $20 only go to a $5 table that way you know you still have money outside of your cash game and then if you get it up to ten fifteen dollars get out of the table go back in with the $5 and that's how you profit in Win and you'll learn and you won't lose it all at once.hope this helped!

I agree it’s all about keeping your mind right and staying off tilt. Remember sometimes when you get it in good you’ll still get unlucky and let it go.

A few days ago I made a $ 20 deposit to 888 poker. All right ... I started playing cash. I doubled my money after 2 hours of play. I lost everything in about 10 minutes. How? The bad part that I deconcentrated after I lost an all in for about $ 10, I KK vs A3. From this moment everything has been ruined. My state of mind, focus have gone ..... my question always sounds in my mind ..... how can you play all in with A3 ???? At this point ... I have no more fun playing poker. How long ... I do not know .... I'm disappointed. Am I stupid or the worst player in the world ???:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

You can only lose what you bet, if you bet it all, indeed, you can lose it all.

You will likely have to back off of all-in's unless you are 100% confident you have the nuts.

Sounds like a hand just turned south, happens to me all the time and I go busto indeed.

I don't like to use the term stupid since it's never too constructive to learn from but perhaps just a bit too aggressive at that time.

Maybe just be more conservative.

Can easily happen in holdem.

Nice it was only $20 too :)

I really don't understand the point of this
i have only been playing poker for 8 months.. i face what i consider a bad beat most everyday... i am surprised that anyone who plays any serious poker is suprised or super depressed/effected by a bad beat
like my poker teachers tell me.. "that's poker, suck it up!"

You need to research bankroll management.

I think you're supposed to play with 25-50 buyins as a rec. As a pro, you should have 100-200 buyins.

BR has always been my problem as well.

Definitely don't feel stupid or like a bad player. You want trash hands calling your monsters because it will be +ev for you in the long run. I know playing poker can sometimes really hurt your self esteem because it's a game that no matter how good you get variance can smash you in the short run. My only advice is to maybe take a vacation. Things only get worse when your playing with a negative mindset. Get your mind right forget about the bad beats and live to fight another day.

These are hands you want to call your pocket pairs don’t associate loosing to variance to being a bad player. Stay positive and focused and you will prevail

Just looking at the figures. And I agree with the regs above.Your problem is Bankroll Management. $20 is not enough Bankroll to play cash games @ $0.01/$0.02 and definitely not $0.02/$0.05. You would be better off playing $0.50 SNGs for a while as $20 would be a 40x Buyin bankroll. Then you can grind those until you have $40-$60, which I feel is the lowest minimum bankroll you could play NL2 Cash with. But personally I would want to have $100 in order to feel ok during hands and play optimally. $20 is not enough friend. The swings are violent and a 10 Buyin drop is entirely possible. The depth of the swing is also a function of how good you are at Poker. Watch Splitsuit's video on YouTube about BRM (Bankroll Management). Good Luck.

I started playing poker in 2008 I played at least four days each week for about 4 years. I was winning a $ 10,000 Freeroll at Carbon Poker, earning $ 1632! (check in the Carbon Poker archive). I started playing Cash. The biggest cash withdrawal was $ 3,000. Finally ... my life has reserved something else and I started playing poker less and less in the last few years of any game! 2-3 months ago I started playing again. Now I play from memories ???

Thank you all for your good and pozitive words.

AlfieAA said something to remember it : enjoyment is key!!!

It’s the best advice ever!!

Thank you!

I find this ^ VERY HARD TO BELIEVE. Sure... you may have binked a freeroll... but this doesn't tell us you know how to play poker. I mean look at your post!!!!! Look at what you're complaining about... it's one Eff'n Hand! And you're playing with 1/4 of your total bankroll. What do you expect? It's obvious to ANYONE on here who has played more than 1 week's worth of poker.... you don't know what you're talking about & are a complete rookie (which is fine... but enough with the b.s. already)
Hi there,

the first rule of cash poker is....its not the hand you play but the relative size of someones bankroll.
What? This has NOTHING to do with cash game play. If a player has a large bankroll & it causes them to play a splashy game, this is a GREAT thing for us. (sidenote: lots of players with large bankrolls don't play a loose, splashy game
I have seen players with Ace rag offsuit be prepared to risk all as they can probably afford it and go up against monster hands...AK is never safe and i would take 22 over AK offsuit more often in a flip than not...
Perhaps them getting it in with A-rag was the correct play in that spot? (how would they know what they're going up against? ... and I'm sure anyone would take a sm pp over AK if they could actually see the other player's cards
Cash games are great tv and its clear why players move tables regularly to keep the focus.
Huh? Players change tables to keep the focus? This seems very contradictory... I mean if a player is focused on the game, they're paying close attention to all of the players on their table(s).... switching tables would completely eliminate this:confused::confused:
i wish you every luck

Pirateglenn
Very confusing post. OP has whined about losing one hand vs. a loose, splashy gambly player... something that as a player in his spot we should be THRILLED BY!!!! (I mean I could see OP's post reading something like this instead "Great table I'm on today. Guy stacks off 100bb's deep with A-rag vs. my KK.... actually calls off a 5bai with it! Hope he sticks around! Hope I see him again sometime soon.... or others who are just like him!). But instead he's talking about ending it all... LOL.
10$ all in, with 20$ stack? are you serious?
Maybe you should learn bankroll management?
Exactly! (a clear indication that OP is new to the game)
If you read well, my bankroll was $ 40 !!! I call all in with KK in my hand. He had A 3 ... total pot was 21 $. What did you do? Folded?

40, 20, tomatoes, tomatt-toes. It makes no difference.

Interesting comments on this post. Can't you all just see that it is a new (was a new) player, who is all upset that his 70% favorite lost to some loose gambler at his table. (and that's if it actually went according to how he described it... maybe it wasn't allin pre?)
Isn't it blatantly obvious that OP is just (was just) a new player? Writing is on the wall (err.. page).

Bad beats happen, It's the crappy part of the game. They seem to happen a lot more on online play because most people cant fold anything ace or anything suited. So bad beats happen all the time in medium stakes on down

What limit did you play? You probably need to work on bankroll management. And all will be well.

Adig,

You are neither stupid, nor the worst player ever. I think that you can pass the title of " worst player ever " to the person who won with A3. Of course that depends on a few things... did you get it all in after the flop with an A on the board? Then you probably made a MISTAKE. Key word there is mistake. I have been playing for 15 years. Just recently I had A 10 in a cash game where I sat with $1000 and it was my third hand. The flop was J K Q. Another person bet around $100, I re raised to $300 and he shoved. He showed QQ and the turn was a J giving him a full house, beating my straight. I thought about the hand for about 10 seconds and left the casino for the day.

Its called a bad beat. If you really want to play poker for the fun of it - you have to let go of beating yourself up over hands like this. Also... if you're only playing with $20 you should be playing like .01/.02 in my opinion. You never want to risk your whole bankroll.

You sound like youre extremely hard on yourself. When you get a bad beat like that - you brush it off and get back in there.

Shake it off and try again!! You cant base your decision of " hating poker " and acting like you " never want to play again " based on a few hours of play.

Cheer up!

You are not alone, a very high percentage of people lose in online poker. They pay rake and the house always wins. You are not the worst player, just a little unlucky. If you are not enjoying it any more you can stop depositing. You can consider freerolls in 888 poker.
