Yes. one time I twisted my ankle and limped for days,,,, Oh wait a minute you meant in poker ,, A lot of people here know I'm a Super Nit,,, so yes to that part of the question also....
I was watching wsop last month a commentator said some pro players started to limp in from late positions even they have a strong hand to disguise it. Or if they have a weak hand to see the flop. Therefore they become unpredictable, too.
I watched Negreanu's master class, he says if you have a hand enough to play it should be enough to raise. But also keep your bets consistent so not exposed.
So I think it is ok to limp sometimes from late position.
I have another problem. At the initial stages of the tournament everything is going well for me, but in the middle stages I start to play aggressively and often bluff. And so I lose the stack and then get nervous and lose everything.
Limp is kind loose..but it's fine as long you keep balancing the hands
By that i mean- limp with J9off from MP ,also limp AKs from the same position..then as mention above on other answers play the opponent(loose/agresive and so on..) , it;s a good play in my opinion
Gotta mix it up. Even limping with aces or kings in the right situation. Just be ready to fold with them if the flop is crazy, otherwise you'll lose it all.
in HU yes I limp . Or sometimes when its blind versus blind in a ring game after everyone folds and I have a good starting hand and dont want the other player to fold
But generally I prefer to open raise anyone from UTG to D
Well, on pokerstars, where you have so many loose players, particularly in tournaments, limping with big hands can be very profitable. I think limping with a big hand, particularly when you're under the gun, is much preferable to making a standard raise, especially when you're so likely to get multiple callers with a wide range of hands and will find it difficult to fold your big hand should one of these unorthodox hands connect on the flop.
I limp in if I'm the last to act (even with pocket pairs) because it allows me to cheaply see a flop that I might get a set (which then I will check and try to trap/reraise anyone that bets). This seems to pay off more often than not.
poker is such a difficult game, it would take a long time to answer this question. I have read all posts on this topic and you can say that everything has already been written
It depends on the strategies you will use.
But limping often has no value. It depends on the favorable situation appearing and, to limp, it does not happen often.
For sure deep stack tournaments will give you more opportunities!
All the literature I read says limping is bad and as a general rule I try not to limp. It's just a weak play. However I was in a $1/2 NL cash game at the casino recently sitting next to a superior player who limped quite a bit. He also raised preflop so there was no pattern. It also seems like older players (60's, 70's) limp much more often than younger players (20's, 30's) who are typically very aggressive.
I'll sometimes limp flop in early position in the hope there's a raise behind me which I can re raise. but if I'm in late position then the answer is no.
