U.S. players can still play at ps, they just can't live in America and play from America. If you have a property outside the United States America, and you make it your primary residency, you are allowed to play at ps !!

Being a US player, I certainly hope PS comes back to the US. I enjoyed the site quite a bit and surely do miss it. Back in 2014????/

hi guys,i think it is better for Pokerstar to return to US as they will be better governed and controlled by the authority there. It is better in term the for sake of the player.

I'm not from US, but I really wish that PS allow them to come back. It was a lot more active with them, especially if FT also could accept US players.

You are referring to people who have dual residence; and that's different.
For example I have Italian and Peruvian nationality and can use any of my two homes.
Players united states that tienene another nationality if they can play, but I think they have to download the platform outside the U.S. territory

If your primary residency is outside of the US, then you aren't a US player. :)

I get your point though, it isn't US citizenship that prevents us from playing.

Probably should change the date in the name of this thread to 2016. With 2014 this is dead. Nothing could move that fast.

There might be hope for 2015, but personally, I consider those hopes to be slim. Like filling a gutshot.

We should know something this week, Friday is a committee deadline. If the bill(s) are passed out of committee, it's still possible. No action this week means they are dead for the year.

Prior to pokerstars being injected into the middle of it, things looked good. But not so much anymore.

I wonder if anyone will blame Pokerstars for scuttling passage of a bill this year. How many players are in the 'Pokerstars or nothing' camp?

Somebody pointed out to me that the CA bills are fiscal bills, which means today is not a make or break day. That is likely in two weeks, on the 23rd. Still, they need to be voted out of their house of origin by the 30th. So the watch is still on.

That said, I still believe it benefits legislators more to wait until after the election cycle to act on this issue. The money is just now pouring in, and passing something now would turn that faucet off.

All Hail the Queen!

Really, I do wonder what it would be like with the US allowed back onto the main PokerStars site and what type of impact it would have on the games and limits. There would be both good and bad. I hope that even if PokerStars doesn't make a comeback for you guys that someone creates a strong alternative site in the States.

I hope it's true, U.S played poker long before the government came around. You can ban it but it will still be played!

I would guess that even 2020 is a bit optimistic but, definitely a possibility. It is half way through 2014 with only 3 states regulated. Were gonna be so far behind when it comes back we won't know wtf just happened.

Pokerstars signed a deal to the state of California a few weeks ago.

They signed a deal with a Tribe and three card rooms to provide their platform. They are still a ways away from actually doing business in CA.

First, a law must pass (maybe this year, more likely next)
That law must not preclude 'bad actors' (possible, but not likely)
The CA gambling Commission must approve them (possible, not certain)

Many a slip twixt a cup and a lip

Also, remember the Pokerstars in CA will not be the Pokerstars of the pre-Black Fiday era that everyone remembers. It will be intrastate, will have other branding, and player pools will be permanently limited those in CA.

Does today's news article about PokerStars being potentially bought by a Canadian company help things along? I hope so!
