Thanks, CSuave. Because of the complications this healing is taking some time. My guy Mike and I usually go to the boats once a month and haven't been since January. I'm going through absolute withdrawal, missing live poker, and seeing all those comped rooms go to waste is nothing less than a bummer. By the time I get better I'll have to start from scratch again...sigh.

Thanks also for the info about the WPT. Their site only had a story about the Main Event, won by Carlos Mortensen. That would've been fun to rail. So I did some googling and found what I was after. Looks like a couple of Cincinnati players did pretty well too.

Here's to next year!

I live in Cincinnati and we usually go to the boats on the Ohio river, although the rooms there are not that great I usually prefer going to Indiana or Michigan for great poker rooms, so I am always looking for good places to play in Ohio. I checked out the website and they look pretty legit, thanks for the heads up!

Bro Hollywood is definitely a good place to go. Its 45 away from cincy. We need to go there sometime. Just wait until they build the new casino in Cincy, I think its coming in a couple of years but its going to be sick! Is there any casinos in northern indiana that are good?

The Horseshoe Hammond IN in NW IN is probably one of the best. More poker action than Hollywood has.

ehh. belterra has decent rooms, and even a low level gambler like me gets a free room monday-wed.. i would agree the rooms in souther indiana casionos arent that great, but they serve a purpose. if i was paying for it, that may be a different story. i like hollywood for the tourneys, and the fact i can play without waiting usually, as opposed to belterra where its either play the tourney, or hope i get there at the right time for a cash game as there is usually a wait.

Will do Chris. And fortunately for me, you caught me on a night I was running well.... Normally you would see me just grinding and trying not to get stacked.

The Hollywood is hosting the "Tri-State Poker Championship" from May 12-22. In addition to NLHE, they're spreading Pot Limit Omaha. Limit Omaha 8 or better, Limit 7-stud and NL 7-stud. On the last day, the 22nd, they're having the Main Event which is a $3K + $150 buy-in. Every night during this event there will be satellites to the Main Event. For more info you can call 812-539-6975 or I'm sure check out the Hollywood website. I'm still recovering from my accident so I have to sit this one out too--boo hoo-so I was hoping some of you great OH CC players would swoop down and enter and take down some of these events so I can live vicariously  .

Yes, I sure am CSuave, and doing a lot of reading, but it just isn't the same, you know? I miss so many things about live poker...the people, the atmosphere, the electricity in the air, live tells, the feel of the cards and the sound of the chips.

For a while there I was really bummed but have since become more philosophical...it'll happen when it happens. In the meantime, I'm so grateful for online poker. Without it, I'd be going stark raving bonkers.

Ok so was sitting here thinking about us Ohio players lets get a count on exactly how many are in here and where you are. Maybe this summer we can get a game somewhere that we can all play in. If we plan a few months ahead it could be possible to get done, once we know where everyone is at then we can try to find a good location that wouldnt be that far for anyone to drive.

Home game robbed in Cincy area

This story was on our local news Tuesday night:

Robbers Crash Norwood Poker Game Monday Night

A local game of "Texas Hold 'Em" turns to terror. Two armed men broke up the poker game - putting guns to players' heads and taking off with thousands of dollars. Local 12's Shawn Ley spoke with the victims.

There were 13 players at the table Tuesday. They are so shaken up by having guns held to their heads only one would share his frightening story. It was a friendly game with high stakes. Buddies playing a monthly card game of Texas Hold 'Em poker, and $300 got you a seat at the table.

But just as some players were cleaning up at the game inside the Norwood apartment, "I had a gun to my head. It was a .38 revolver, I believe."
Card player Thomas Grady says two men with guns rushed in to clean everyone out in a violent way. "They said nobody move or we will shoot all of you. And you could tell that gun was loaded? Oh yes!"

Grady was one of 13 players at the table that night and is still shaken by what happened. The friends are asking how did the gunmen get in to the game on the second floor of the apartment ... and how did they know they were there? "They barged in and said nobody move, where's the money. That's all they said."

They also knew exactly who was holding the cash. A 20 year old at the game had the cash box - the pair somehow knew he had it and pistol whipped him for it ... making off with $2500. "And then they came running back out and said nobody move until we're out of sight ... it was like a minute long."

Both gunmen are white in their mid 20's. One was wearing a mask- these guys got a good look at the second suspect and they are working with police on a sketch of him to get out to the public.

now thats the kind of thing that makes me reluctant to play anywhere but a casino. granted, im sure many home games never have the slightest problem, but i still get a little uneasy when i hear stories like this. i wouldnt be suprised to hear that the robbers either played in this game, or heard about it, and decided to help themselves. like i say, i would rather go to the casino, take somebodys money at the poker table, and leave knowing that if i truly do feel unsafe leaving(i never have btw) i can have security escort me to my car. i dare say the bigger issue is the anti gambling movement will just go aha! see! and try to paint the robbers and players with the same brush.
