Glad you like the club Bran. A friend of mine runs it. I stopped in awhile back. Seems very nice and spacious and much busier than I had expected already.

How many of us play at Hollwood or Belterra on the river in southern Indiana? How often? I usually do Belterra once a month. A meet-up would be fun.

I play at Hollywood. Used to play at Belterra before Argosy/Hollywood opened their poker room. Unfortunately I do no play down there very regularly due to my schedule.... and limited BR.

While I didn't like the Argosy poker room at all--tables too crowded; wait lists an hour or more long--I really love the Hollywood's new room. Really spacious and well run--they even have chip runners.

Mike and I spend 2 nights a month at Belterra mainly because we get comped rooms and have enough poker points for not only free meals but merchandise. When we leave, we stop at the Hollywood for the afternoon/evening on the way home and in many ways it's like old home week.

There are several floor people and dealers who used to work at the Grand Victoria which was my favorite for years and the first to open a poker room on that part of the river. We also usually end up playing with a dealer or two from Belterra which is always a fun experience.

I'd like to spend more time there but I'm spoiled--I don't like paying for rooms. Guess I'll have to work on getting comped there. In the meantime, does anyone know if they have a poker rate for rooms?

So is it a good thing that the Columbus casino is going to be a Hollywood? Sounds like you seem to like it!

Yes, a very good thing indeed! However, given how close Columbus is to Lawrenceburg IN (2 hours or so), I imagine the new one might be smaller, more like the Hollywood in Aurora IL. They have a real nice poker room there but not as large.

The Lawrenceburg poker room is really sizeable for our area--41 tables. Also it's a WPT Poker Room. Matter of fact, they're holding the Hollywood Poker Open from March 5th to March 24th which will feature 18 different events culminating in a 10K buy-in WPT Championship that will be televised. Very exciting! I don't know yet whether I'm going to enter any of them--for sure not the 10K lol--but I definitely plan to go a couple of times to do some serious railing. I'm sure quite a few of my friends will be playing.

Anybody from Central Ohio? Got a good game? Know a good Poker Room? Let me know!! :)

thanks,
brandon

Don't know just what area of Central Ohio you're looking for a game, but I'm from the Mansfield area and can point you in the direction of weekly and monthly games held at different lodges/organizations, some pretty descent weekly home games, a weekly poker league in Shelby that will be sending 5 players to a wsop event this spring/summer (www.acesand8ights.com). I personally host a 10 Man / $50 deepstack monthly tournament. So, if you're in Mansfield area let me know and I can probably hook you up with something . . .

I'm Partial to Gemini Players Club, for obvious reasons.
If you in the Columbus area there is actually about 6 clubs now that have Copied us.
Gemini is the largest as far a size, action and size of cash games and tournament fields. Also known as the toughest game in Ohio.
The other clubs serve their purpose as far as smaller atmosphere and games. Just Google Ohio Poker and you will be barraged with info.

The one that is opening in Cleveland area what is the yearly membership cost and the usage fee. And are the tournaments gonna mimick the columbus tournaments?

The Berea Club will Mimick Columbus as far as use fees Etc.
As far as the games and tournament structures go, we will tailor them to whatever the general membership wants to do.
We are simply there to facilitate the members choices.

More Specifically $ 10 for a 3 month $ 25 for an Annual and daily use fees are $10 for a tournament and $25 for Cash Games. Never spend more than $25 a day in use fees.

Gemini will blow away the Nautica facility. The play should be better and it will be very very well run. No people who don't care about the incorrect application of the rules. Many at Nautica don't know the rules nor do they care unless it is a buddy of their's bugging them.

It would be great to have somewhere else to play poker other than Nautica. I played there a couple of times, but the seat fees are too steep and the cash games are garbage. Never tried the tournies due to the even steeper fees.

I live in Cincinnati and we usually go to the boats on the Ohio river, although the rooms there are not that great I usually prefer going to Indiana or Michigan for great poker rooms, so I am always looking for good places to play in Ohio. I checked out the website and they look pretty legit, thanks for the heads up!

xXSmuggla, have you been to Hollywood (formerly Argosy) lately? One of the nicest poker rooms in the midwest. Good action too. The clubs here in Columbus are great because of the cut down on the rake. There is no rake per hand. You must just join the club for a small yearly fee and pay a daily use fee. ($25 max). Can't beat it.

Speaking of the Southern Indiana riverboats, did anyone get to play in or watch any of the WPT action at the Hollywood this month? I had been planning on going for weeks, to maybe enter a smaller event and especially to rail the televised Main Event.

Fate intervened by way of a freak accident late in January followed by complications so I was unable to attend. I was so disappointed and would love to hear a report from someone.

In the meantime, does anyone know where on the web I can get a rundown of the results and all?

Lark, sorry to hear about the accident. Hope you are doing better.
I am pretty sure you can get results from WPT's site. (sorry don't want to post the link as I think I would get in trouble on here). I know quite a few from the Columbus area did very well. I also know that the Main Event of that series was not attended as well as they had hoped. They had 114 players and the second smallest first place prize in WPT history. Still had a lot of poker pros there. Two of the prelim events were won by people from Columbus and a few others made final tables too. Prelims went pretty well and had good attendance.
