Bad news - it took 3 days to get "verified". There was some kind of glitch on their end with online submission of documents. Once it was clear their system was hung up, I e-mailed the document that was hung, and got verified almost immediately. Nobody on their end was actually monitoring what was going on, so I as the client was required to take the initiative to work around the problems on their end. This did not leave me with a warm & fuzzy feeling.
Just a quick note to close this issue. I got a cryptic e-mail back from GGPoker Support that seems to suggest that they have some sort of automated system to verify documents, which it would appear failed in my case. They verified the account "manually" (which I assumed they did regardless) after I started querying them on the matter. Again not a warm and fuzzy feeling, but I guess their automated system must work most of the time.

My suggestion - if you're trying to get verified, bypass the online system and just send the documents (Driver's License & Utility Bill) to kyc@ggpoker.com in an e-mail. Would have saved me three days had I done it that way in the first place.

Big Blinds instead of Chips

Another feature that's nice is that you can switch between the normal chips display and a big blinds display. No add-on 3rd party tools needed.

I'm curious - what do you mean by "the support of some freaks"? Their support seems much better than other poker sites I've dealt with in the past.

This is a great feature for sure, but isnt something that GG have introduced. partypoker have had this feature for a couple years now and you can also now use this function on pokerstars.

Still a great feature though and I personally like the built in smart HUD and exclusion of 3rd party software HUDs so everyone is on a level playing field in terms of tools/software at least.

Yes and no. If you go into the chat box you will see a settings icon at the bottom that allows you to "Mute" chat. That will turn off chat but I don't believe it turns off the silly face emojis. It will also place a big astronaut-like helmet on your avatar's head so everyone else at the table will know that you've muted chat.

Exactly - we're all playing by the same rules!

Just in case anyone else experiences a similar problem:

This morning I went to play poker at GGPoker and the App died as it was launching. It was working perfectly yesterday. It wouldn't work on my computer or my phone. But, when I switched wi-fi off on my phone the GGPoker app started correctly (using data). So it clearly had something to do with my Internet.

I was able to take my router out of the chain and use the internet signal coming straight form my ISP's modem and again, it worked correctly. So it was my router causing the problem. I checked the parental controls setting, but I've never turned that on.

Turns out my ASUS RT-N66U router's firewall all of a sudden decided to start blocking GGPoker. I turned the firewall off and everything went back to normal.

Essentially treat it like a £40 bonus. The AoF is All in or Fold, which means to play any hand you go all in. It essentially is more like a casino game for pure gambling, and will potentially eat far more money than you get in bonuses for doing it. I'd avoid it altogether unless you like slot machines or roulette wheels.

The Negreanu controversy really is what brought GGPoker to my attention. I started playing on their site a few weeks ago in the (one or two per week) Cardschat freerolls.

I like them so much that I'm planning on making a first deposit. This is noteworthy as GGPoker is the first offshore site to which I've ever wanted to make a deposit. And I've played on many, many sites over the years.

Their desktop software is the best! And I'm playing on a Mac, which most sites consider a low/afterthought priority. There's only one site which comes close - Pokerstars, and their Mac software still has the same bugs it had five years ago.

The GGPoker mobile client, which I use on my Android phone, is beyond INCREDIBLE! It blows EVERYBODY away! It blows the Pokerstars mobile client away. (That said, I'm referring to single table, tournament play. I haven't tried multi-table cash games with them). GGPoker is the ONLY site that I will play on my phone.

I don't know for sure why, but from my limited experience with them, the calibre of play seems far more "professional" if that's the correct way to put it. I see more of what I expect (high stakes) professional players to do at the $3 and $5 buy-in tournaments at GGPoker.

GGPoker is staying away from the many super-cheap, micro buy-in tournaments that seem to be a mainstay at PokerStars. They seem to have a clear business model in mind and a good handle on prioritizing to get there. This may also be why they seem to attract a higher calibre clientele.

GGPoker seems to me to be the future of online poker. You won't find freerolls there, other than the Cardschat freerolls, which would be a good place to start. If you're looking for a new site to try, I definitely recommend them.

Hello!

I agree very much with your opinion. PokerStars has been leaving to be desired. Being a software that is already long in the follow-up has been losing market and visibility. GGPoker has been growing very fast and I intend to migrate to them.

Thanks! I had a look at some tables and got that exact impression. I rarely seem to end up on the winning side when I go all-in in any game, so I'm not likely to go looking for more ways to lose money quickly.

I saw in a different thread that a Cardschat member had his account hacked at a different site, PartyPoker I believe. So I checked to see if GGPoker has 2 Factor Authentication (2FA), which they do. I now have that turned on. The SMS message with the verification code came immediately on my phone after my next log-in. You also have the option to set the delivery vehicle to your e-mail instead of a phone if you prefer.

GGPOKER

Have to say, after ending the bonus week, and busting out, I'm going to delete it probably.

I hate all the smileys, I don't like the throwables in Pokerstars, and although at first I thought 888 a bit sparse, I really prefer it's no nonsense client now.

GG also seemed all set up to make you overextend and burn out more. Compare this to 888 which is the opposite, it gives you so many freebies so you can play between busting and depositing. Maybe not an issue if you have a healthy bankroll, but at my low level, it's definitely welcome.

TLDR: I really don't like GGpoker that much, unless I join a freeroll there, I'm done.

as at the beginning, it looks quite good, the more that PS is recording a systematic outflow of players and I was hoping that CC would have more events organized for its members there :)

I also faced this problem, GG poker just didn't start. In my case, the solution to this problem was to restart the router and computer

GG is the future indeed. They must just remain humble and keep working hard. Let's they end up like pokerstars, that's always getting polarized reviews.

I may be a bit biased. I'm far sighted. I wear glasses for close up work, but it's never as clear as I would like it. So any client like Pokerstars and in particular GGPoker that gives me bigger and clearer text and images starts out with a higher grade.

The smileys suck, but you see very little of them in the higher buy-in, higher prize pool tournaments.

Translation: "Hi. I'm playing in GG, but there are very few freerolls. there should be more. I think they would have to be daily. I think he has a long way to go to catch up with pokerstars. for now it is only for pro players. and for those who have money to deposit. It does not have any promotions for beginning players, I think they are not interested."

That definitely seems to be the case. Maybe that's part of why I prefer them.

Ggpoker is a good site but not enought, they dont have freerolls or another options for begginers, is mostly able to get bots, they have some bugs in his site, so yes is a good site but too much work to do, cheers
