hola

It's good news for all of us rookies, at least they paid a little attention.

Its a fair point about the need to invest in additional software to just be on level with other players. There are however fairly cheap HUDs available or even free trial versions, so I think, its a little bit of an overblown concern.

The far larger issue in my opinion is all the ofter software, which exist, not to mention paid training sites like Upswing Poker to mention just one. I am currently struggling a bit to beat the games, I play, so I can move up further. Something like 10-20NL cash games and 3-5$ tournaments.

And I am currently debating, if I should dig out the cash to purchase a subscription for ICMizer and the Upswing Lab. This however is 150$ per year each, so its on a completely different level than the 100$ once and for all, you need to pay for PT4. But I am sure many of my opponents have paid for these subscriptions, so I am at a systematic disadvantage to them, if I dont do the same. This is not something, poker sites can stop, so in that sense I do feel, that all this focus on HUDs is a bit out of proportion and like fighting the last war.

That being said I think, its perfectly fine, that HUD free sites or games exist. In that way people have a choise, and how can anyone possibly be against a choise. Its not like, its a human right for me to play at exactly partypoker with a HUD, just like its not a human right for someone else to play on HUD free tables on pokerstars. Sites can set their TOS, as they want, and as players we then wote with our feet and our rake money.

My issue with PartyPoker is the lack of hand histories, which I have written about many times before, so no need to repeat it again.

I am definitely against HUDs, and stay clear of sites that allow it.
Good on PartyPoker!

There is no HUD in live poker, and the really good player don't really need a HUD to be profitable.

It's good. We choose what you like. I like playing without statistics better. If we take cash games, then I prefer to play in those frames where the hood is blocked. Those players who lose their advantage playing without statistics programs are outraged.

Wish the rest of the sites would do the same. It's not just a "simple tool". When you can buy hand histories and know whether a person you've never met folds to 3bet x% or folds to a 3rd cbet on river x%. Floats flop and turn before folding x%... cbets flop, turn and river x% ...and so on. To say it's not an unfair advantage is a bit disingenuous. I can't take notes on people I've never met. I can't open a table and have a pencil and paper automatically take notes on the players while I piss around the house or go to work. I get that it pisses off the multi table grinders playing 20 tables at a time..but it's still bad for the game, period.

I think the ban is great. HUDs were never meant to be a part of poker. I've tried using them (for a long time) and just hated it - I wasn't playing poker anymore, I was just looking at some numbers and making decisions - I might as well have been working risk analysis in a bank. I agree with banning them site-wide though: I don't mind if a website wants to allow them, in which case everybody will use them, but a website without them is great because I don't have to be worrying about being at a disadvantage just because I actually enjoy playing poker.

Imagine in golf if you could just put on an eyepiece and it would show you all the statistics and forces and angles involved in your shot or the same in pool/snooker - it would ruin the game because now everybody can just instantly make optimal decisions as long as they know how to interpret the data.

I'll be switching to PartyPoker as soon as I have enough time to start playing again!

I don't know that a ban on HUDs is great. You can still take notes on players. They are just making it harder to do so, which I am okay with, it's no harder than taking notes IRL. I've used a HUD for a while, didn't think it helped me. So I stopped.

hi hi
i very upset with this change of policy
i am serious learn poker, to get better no lose all the time... i need study the hands i have played, look for leaks, examine action etc, etc
i wish study how i have played a premium pair UTG etc etc, i need all those statistics
i like my coach look at my database of hands last week and give me pointers from what he see

so it not just about HUDS, which are useless without THOUSANDS of hands data on an opponent

This, I 100% agree with.. This is the real tom-foolery of the situation. you can't review your OWN hands, anymore. Who's to say that their "coaching" tools analysis is the one you want? I'd much rather be able to run my own data analysis.

All rooms must ban soft, it's not honestly to play with, and should practice without for live events
