I never did like Bank of America! They're sneaky with their policies. I remember when I was 18 and got an account through them, I had a withdraw that I had never seen before in my life for a 1$ fee after I had already withdrew all my money, the next thing they sent me a letter saying I over drafted and now owed them an over draft free of 28$?? I was so confused but I just left them and never paid them back lol
So why would they care how much Daniel N. put into his accounts from poker money? Poker is legal right...stupid and nonsense

Bank of America is a really weird bank. They threatened to close a lot of my friends accounts for weird reasons. You don't want my money? Ok fine. I'll go somewhere else lol

Lol who hasn't left Bank of America. that was exactly my response to them charging me weird over draft fees that I had no idea where I over drafted from? I just went to a local branch and never had these problems. Bank Of America are crooks!

I'm surprised this just happened to him now. This happened to me at a number of banks (BOA included) years ago and for significantly smaller amounts.

They state very clearly that only 100k is guaranteed coverage by GDIC. I think they were talking about upping it to 200-250k, but didn't pay attention to if that had happened. So I wouldn't want 2m in a bank account unless I had A LOT more money than him. You essentially have BETTER coverage/insurance if you gave them max coverage (150k) in your account and the rest in a safety deposit box. They can't seize anything in there even if they go broke.

Banks in General

Seems like banking is the :D business to be in to me, charge ppl to take their money and charge them fees and hassle them about their holdings...

very interesting; I quit B of A a few years back; for giving money from my account to the government for taxes owed. I did not give them permission to do that and will never bank with them again.

According to Negreanu, Bank of America (one of the biggest banks in the United States) will be closing all of his accounts, since he has deposited too much poker-related money in them.

Well, i believe it has something to do with 'Laundry of funds'!
Government believe illegal funds are flowing through sites, to wash from government tracing (following of monetry travel).
Thus people can unwittingly help wash terrorist funds with game playing, and then withdrawing funds few days later...
I can see both sides of argument.

Banks are under strict goverment controls now, especially after they were all bailed out of the S..t, few years ago, and thus have to open 'ALL' accounts to allow goverment scrutiny.
I agree with you buddy

Never trust the damn banks. Whenever you trust someone else to handle your cash, then obviously this can happen. Always get your winnings in cash, and even if you have to pay for security to get you where you want to go with it, then so be it.

Daniel Negreanu, who has earned over $32 million from live tournaments during his career, announced recently on Twitter that he is having some major problems with Bank of America.

According to Negreanu, Bank of America (one of the biggest banks in the United States) will be closing all of his accounts, since he has deposited too much poker-related money in them.

It seems Negreanu is not the only poker pro who has had problems with the Bank of America, as Doug Polk revealed, that he had a substantial amount frozen 1,5 years ago for 2 months:

I do not understand Bank of America, the money earned at the poker table is as honorable and difficult to win as in any other activity.

I wonder whatever happened with that if he ever reported on the outcome? I would have been curious to see how it turned out with Bank of America. Or if he left and was able to get his money and bank somewhere else maybe someone here can post an update sometime lol

I never did care for Bank of America to be honestly. Something always rubbed me the wrong way with the way they did business.
