Poker and online casinos the great scam of the 21st century, the best of the matter that these companies swind billions a year legally. Because as already demonstrated there is nothing random in the computer world, if there are programs that try to simulate randomness, but only that simulate it ... What do companies get scammed in online poker if they already charge rake? Well, that the baddest players are not plucked at the first exchange and give them hope that making money is possible. This way they get people hooked, creating addiction and also a false feeling that making a lot of money if possible. Besides the scammers are not only within the company as it has already been demonstrated in several cases, such as the Ultimate bet super users. But it is also to find expert users in computer security who through malware or Trojans infecting computers and see your cards. But up to here they are not all the scams that happen in the world of online poker, there are also groups of players who, through instant messaging programs or playing from the same location, say the cards and take advantage of it to earn money from other people .
none of this happens in live poker, if we talk about serious rooms, that's the difference

Hi!

I think it's completely different. The rules are the same in the game of course, but the mood of the game is completely different. The two cannot be compared. I need an holdem manager online as an example, but I have to use my head live. The two poker games are different for me.

I definitely agree that online players tend to be much better than live players.

Online Poker

In online poker VS in person poker you can't tell if there are buddies playing at the same table texting each other back and forth what their hands are etc.

Another thing as mentioned by others, there isn't the normal amount of chat going on in online poker. Most tables I play at in money tables it is a rare occasion that one even says NH etc. Pretty impersonal is online VS sitting at a live table.

GL ALL! :D

Difference between online and live

The difference is online and live is players are not gonna make the moves they do online because you will lose. And they dont have the balls because a lot of online players are afraid to leave the house.

I play both modes. Online for convenience, but nothing compares to playing live. There's nothing like receiving cards, picking them up and looking at them , playing chip towers, and having good conversations at the table. Playing in a casino or a private game helps to have more information to make decisions, for example the so-called tells or hints that live players give can determine if you are bringing good cards or are going through a tilt .

I play both but mostly online. While I would love to play more live I can afford to nor do I have the time to travel to and pay 2-300 to play a tournament, every day. AT lease online I can play when I want and not worry about the financial cost of the game. Are there differences between the 2? yes. Live is easier in my opinion.

it has been a lot of time since i start playing poker , but i have a question in mind . Besides not been able to see your opponents faces , and emotions . What are the other differences between Online poker and real ??
one is you dont have to listen to the crybabies when they lose. 2 you dont have to sit in a smoke filled poker room . 3 you can sit in your chair in your pjs and play as long as you want and then go to bed .there are a lot of advantages

You have a point... but i miss playing live though.. where you actually have conversation with your opponents (friendly chat or just to tilt :) ) been playing mostly in bodog online now, no covid or mask needed lol. Its not that bad, just miss the feel of the felt, cards and the mesmerizing sounds of chips.

And the tables are damn softer live! Good day to you.

the difference is very big in real poker, you can only play one hand, for a certain time, and a single tournament, in online poker you can play a great diversity of tournaments and tables, which has its advantages and disadvantages, in addition You never see the opponent, but you can study their movements.

poker is the passion of my life ...

I never played live but I am 100% we are talking about two different sports. Reading all those non verbal stuff, reacting to the atmosphere etc. etc. I think you just should not compare the two.

Actually I'm sure there are more than a couple... more like a COUPLE HUNDRED that is.

Take the WSOP Player of the Year for example.
This year battling in contention for Player of the Year ... currently sitting in 2nd place is Shaun Deeb. In 2018 he won Player of the Year.

In 2016 there were two very prominent online MTT regulars in the Top 5 - - Paul Volpe in 2nd, & James Obst in 4th

In 2017, half of the Top 10 in standings for WSOP Player of the Year award were prominent online MTT regulars, including the likes of Mike Leah in 4th (goleafsgoeh), Kenny Hallaert in 6th (SpaceyFCB), & Alex Foxen in 7th.

Your comment here regarding online players shows how far out of touch you actually are.
Why not embrace variance? And why not give online poker a good try and go and beat those inexperienced online players?

This raises a question: who is an "online player" and who is a "real life player"? The first time I play in real life do I become a "real life player"? And does some one become an "online player" when he/she plays online for the first time? I think these definitions are very loose.. and I am not sure they even should exist.

I wonder if I'd do well in real tables since I suck in online poker :D

Real life is way more enjoyable, you can share information about other players plus you can have a beer and get drunk at the same pace of the other players.

My post that you're quoting was in response to another member who was suggesting that players who have been predominantly 'online' players (I guess the definition being 'those who played mostly online earlier in their careers as poker professionals)... are not good in a live poker venue. My response illustrated how incorrect his statement was.

BUT... you do make a great point! Say I play a couple million hands online but I only play live games once a month (or not at all with COVID). I suppose I'm neither an online or live player.... instead I'm just a person who enjoys playing poker (as long as I'm winning that is.... otherwise the game sucks ;) )

I think perhaps 10yrs. ago or so, people often referred to players as 'online' or 'live' players as the ones we'd often see on TV hadn't ever played online (or not much... or at least didn't advertise that they did).... but other's did.

Live is the way to go for me

I enjoy playing in both formats but do way better playing live. I guess that means I’m not that good at group.

I like live poker best because you do not get the children playing that you do online.

Definitely, in live, the reality of money, chips, etc. is more felt. In live, it's not as easy for you to put all in as it is on online sites. There money is considered virtual and loses its value, or something. I think this is one of the main differences.

I think the big difference is the feel of the other players. I don’t know if you would call it reads but you can feel the ebb and flow of the table.

Difference between online and live poker

The difference is if someone calls your all in with absolute trash they lose more times than not. And the people who call with trash online and win would never make that move in real life. And in live cash games you dont have to worry about bots.

What is 'Live'..??

homegame..casino..??..

diffrerences...online the stakes are a lot lower...as are the skill levels of many players. Try finding a $1-$20 tourney in a casino..na..??

cash games....try finding a 1/2c game in a casino...

people in a casino won't go all in pre with 52 sooted against 2 other players...as they do occasionally in cc freerolls...and win the hand against aces, possibly thanks to the stars rng.

Live games...in the early levels of as tourney for example...are tougher than online...but later...itm etc...the level is the same i think.

the advantages of online are obvious..the convenience...the variety...and the low stakes.
