Hi guys!

On Paradise road in Las Vegas there is a Restaurant off the corner of Paradise and Corporate dr. named Satay (Thai, Indian, and Chinese Restaurant). They have the best Pinang dish I've ever had. Their Thai fried rice is amazing as well. Basically, if you're looking for a great place to eat while exploring off the strip, this is a definite go-to stop. The service and atmosphere is very cool and private. It's an amazing experience guys.:)

That looks great B-)

Make sense. It's right in the middle of all the action on the strip.

There's so many great deals on groupon to stay at casinoes downtown Las Vegas. As cheap as $25 per night

Yeah it's pretty cool. Definitely staying downtown on my next trip.

Hmm... as with most things in poker >> "It Depends"
It's very subjective - - one person's idea of a good time might be another's idea of extreme boredom. Some might feel uncomfortable blowing $100 dollars on the tables where others might consider it a waste to not have $100 dollar bills rolled up with Hookers & blow laid out on the tables.

If I go to Vegas it's to play poker & nothing else. I don't play other table games or slots, etc. or drink alcohol either. I also don't particularly care for the food on the strip in Vegas (or the prices for what you get). Also, I play a bit of low stakes cash game & some cheaper buyin MTT's... so for me I don't need to take very much money. ie. if it were during the WSOP I'd want to play a couple of cheaper events, + a few of the Daily Deepstack tourneys at the RIO (&/or elsewhere). Food I try to pick up and eat mostly at my room. So aside from my room & groceries/meals I'd need ~$4,000 for playing poker for a 10-day trip during WSOP.

I took just $2000 with me to Vegas in 2013 and ended up staying for 3 years lol

I stayed at Encore (Wynn). Very spacious rooms and top hotel (except for the opening hours of the swimming pool). The casino downstairs is nice. There are always poker tables for cash games and many tournaments organized there.

Ive never been to Vegas but always planed to go...I was trying to get some tips on what a good amount of money is to take to have a good time?

You can apply progressive rates .. for example, if you lose a bet to double .. and so until you win

Room and food comps?

Where are the best places to stay in Vegas where you can get decent comps for your poker play?

Also, many years ago, if you deposited a lot of money with the casino you are automatically given free room and food. Even if you didn't play. Is this still true?

Has anyone stayed at the Downtown Grand?

25 years ago it was the Lady Luck and I stayed a lot. Room comped for a $5 blackjack player.

I saw advertised a $33 room rate. Sounds good but no poker room. Sentimental place as my wife and I spent many a pleasant night there. Sorry, discretion prevents more details.

For steak in Laughlin

The Salt Grass at the Golden Nugget.

BEST STEAK I EVER HAD!

Poker in Laughlin a little sparse but the Riverside seems to always have good games.

And other casinos have low but small tournaments on a regular basis.

Just remember all casinos, especially on the strip, charge resort fees on top of hotel room prices fees can be as much as the room itself

The only real poker MTT in Laughlin are at the Riverside, Harrahs and the Colorado Belle

Darwin Theory is the most easiest to be explained says your Playful1:tomato:

If you join TI’s mailing list, think it’s called the Guestbook, you can waive the resort fees at check-in. Or else it’s $37 for wi-fi, water, and fitness center privileges like everyone else.

If you're looking for a great steakhouse in Vegas, choose either STK at the Cosmo or Voodoo at the Rio. Both have great menus and the view from Voodoo (50th floor, facing the strip) is amazing. Both places also have an interestingly unique ****tail list.

These restaurants are pricey (as most, if not all, good Vegas steakhouses are), but are well worth the money.

The best comps are at the fancier places (Aria, Bellagio, Wynn). They give $2/hour in comps for cash games as opposed to $1/hour most other places. But even more important, the restaurants at these hotels are better than other casinos so your comps will go towards a tastier meal.

Eat at Firefly on Paradise Road! http://www.fireflylv.com/

it is off strip and easily the best (moderately priced) restaurant in Vegas. The locals know about it, so you'll need reservations or be prepared to wait 20-40 mins on a Fri/Sat night.

It is like a $10-$15 cab ride from center strip and totally worth it.

amazing tapas and not too expensive. usually we'll go with a group of 4 and eat "family style" sharing everything and the bill will be $100 or less with tip and drinks and dessert.

the apple manchego salad is my favorite dish on the planet right now. I'm not kidding. it's like, really really really good and it's $6. I order 2 every time. :)

I hear the Sangria is wonderful, but I don't usually drink wine.

my other favorite dishes (I am vegetarian)
Manchego Mac N cheese
Grilled Brie and tomato soup

I've heard some complaints about the service, but I've eaten there 6+ times and never had any complaints. I've always had table service and I hear the bar service is not as good.

OMG yes! This place is one of the best places to eat. The Lemon Cod and Fire Fries is amazing. And yes, the Sangria's (so many flavors to choose from) awesome! Also, they have Salsa nights on Friday where they clear out the outside patio area and have a DJ playing the best of Salsa music. It gets hot and heated in there with the Spanish dancing atmosphere. So Awesome!

Food: Blueberry Hill Family restaraunt... think it's on Flamingo about 3 miles east of the strip.

Most awesome breakfast in Vegas. The pancakes are incredible. Great value.

Great breakfast spot for sure. It's open 24 hrs (as almost everything in Vegas right?) and yes, they have the best pancakes in Vegas. I Usually get the whole grain pancakes with turkey bacon and egg whites. The staff is cool and the prices are cheaper then the peppermill (though that's a great spot as well).
