If I had the bankroll to play professionallu I would choose either Malta or the UK. UK for all the great choices living in London and lots of entertainment,

Malta for live casino action and the sunny weather.

The best idea of a country where to live to play poker, because the game is legal, would be Spain, because there the game is legal and there are no restrictions like in my country and in other countries where you have to avoid it because you run the risk of illicit gains, very unfortunate.

Hi!
Please. Could you tell me? Are you from Spain? The reason why I did not choose Spain that there are high taxes on income. If you earn more than 60.001 a year, the income tax is 45%. Personally, I really like Spain. Its culture, language and awesome beaches. I'm even silent about Barcelona and Majorca :)))
I forgot another very important thing – food, wine and Jamon iberico! Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

Many of the countries you mentioned, you are not allowed to become a resident. Especially in the middle eastern countries they require a job to stay there.

I do not think being a professional poker player is a profession in Saudi Arabia .

I do not play at a level that makes me want to move out of Vancouver canada. I just do not make enough money to do that and I would not want to leave here as it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

Hi!
You can play poker in Saudi Arabia. If you want to register, then there is this country. So people from this country play pokerstars.

For example:
Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia
won $3,675.47 for 3rd place in the PokerStars Daily Challenge - The Hot $33 [Turbo]

There is also the Saudi Arabia Poker Community...

I think there are few countries that meet their requirements in the world. If one day my earnings are profitable I think I will also choose to move. Since governments take a lot of money from you.

The answer definitely is the Czech Republic.
There are no taxes on your poker winnings there. The biggest poker room in Europe is located there. There is the place to be

Personally, I would like to live and play poker in Monaco. I still think that where more tournaments are held, it should be in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, but the cost of living should be very high.

Hello to all!
An interesting thread was written by a friend
As for me, if I won $ 1,000,000, then I would not bother how much tax was taken from me, I will not leave my country

Here in the UK we do not pay tax on poker (or any gambling) winnings either.

Obviously we do pay income tax on earnings via employment etc though

country to play poker

the united states is still the best country to play poker

It's a political mess though... becoming more of a third world country with all of these rednecks that can't live without their guns. I don't feel as safe raising my child here any longer so looking at other Countries myself that have good education mixed with good untaxed poker and are relatively safe.

Curious, those that have transplanted from America -- where have you gone and how was the transition? I'm in Vegas currently and was pretty happy finally making the move from CA a number of years ago, so why not expand that and try out of the Country :) Man I used to drive through 5.5-6 hours (3 hours each way) of traffic out of College in So Cal for work daily making 15$/hr out of college, oi. .

for me, the best country is the one in which I was born and if there are restrictions with poker in my country, if I were a professional poker player, I would not move anywhere to avoid paying taxes, the actions of some millionaires who change countries because of high taxes are the last baseness for me

it depends on where one lives, for EEC citizen it is best in EEC
if you win as a Danish player in, for example, U.S. then you have to pay taxes to U.S. in the casino, in addition, you have to pay 37% in income tax to the state of the rest, that also applies in England after they left the EEC. Moreover, there are very few online sites we can play on (888, pokerstars, Danish games...) since they must have a Danish license.

So home is best :)

Don't know why you are recommending Hungary... First of all, gambling winnings are taxed with 27% if you reach a certain amount of income per year, which is obviously set to tax everyone who manages to live only from poker winnings. (Don't remember the exact amount, but basically if you win like 30 euros on the lottery, then nice, the whole amount is yours, but if you win like a 300.000 euros, that definitely has to be taxed.) And I got this info directly from a Hungarian financial expert. Moreover the living conditions in Hungary are getting worse and worse. Yes, the prices may be low in compairson to other more developed European countries, but the infrastructure is bad, the hospitals and schools are falling apart and politicans steal all the money or spend it to build football stadiums... Intellectual people are fleeing the country; those who stay, are mostly brainwashed by the propaganda or wouldn't leave their family and home behind. How do I know that? I'm Hungarian, I've been living here all my life and also planning to leave as soon as I can.

Here in germany you don't have to pay any taxes on poker games. But if you just make profit in the long term, you are considered a professional gambler and have to register a business, where you pay taxes on the profit.
