As others already have said (based on information you provided):
- you are not in a position to make this decision (yet)
If you become a pro now, very likely you'll end:
- with a gambling debt
- without gf
The one point were you were really wrong:
- poker is gambling and can become addictive
On the chance of succeeding:
- only 10% poker players makes money
- my guess: <0.1% makes enough to stop working
- my guess: <0.001% becomes rich
So:
- study and get a regular job
- play poker for hobby
- study math/statistics (usefull for poker)
- if you are a winning player, your gf won't mind
- if you are really good (healthy poker income over several years), then talk again to your gf about becoming a pro

It's too short of a time to make a decision.
If you don't have money to sustain you until you earn, then you should get a job probably.

I think you can only really start calling Poker a job when your hourly win-rate is equal or higher than minimum wage. If you are a 5bb/100 winner at NL25 then you are expected to make $1.25 in 100 hands of play. Most tables run at about 75 hands per hour so that's about $0.94 per hour with that winrate. Not exactly McDonalds is it. Even if you played on 4-tables with the same winrate you'd still only be doing about $4 an hour. So from that perspective you can't really call it a "Job" yet. Now let's take an NL200 player with a winrate of 2bb/100. This player is expected to make $4 in 100 hands of play. In one hour the expected profit is about $3 in 75 hands. Now if they played on 4 tables with that winrate they'd be doing about 12 bucks an hour, which is close to some minimum wage jobs. From my point of view that person's Poker has now become equivalent to a job. The same would be true if they had a winrate of 6-8bb/100 and only played on 1 table. But guess what, there's no holiday pay, healthcare or company car with Poker :) It's not a job unless you have a stable winrate and are a long term winner (250,000 hands+)

I would say its unrealistic at your point....you need a way higher # of sample size to call it a job. I have to agree that a job would be more realistic in your current situation. They say play poker is a hardest way to play for a living...not to mention the expenses...

You should find a job and/or go back to college. Don't think because you have studied poker for 2 months that this is sufficient. This will not make you be able to live off of poker. However, you can still play poker in the meantime. But do have a constant income coming in as well.

It's best to find a job and play poker in your spare time if you like it. If the results of your game show that you can earn enough money, then you can think seriously.

2 months is nothing dude, and winning some free rolls isn't enough to cut it. You need to be dedicated to playing a solid 40 hours a week just like any other job if you want to cut it. To be honest if you are just getting started learning poker you have a long way to go before you can realistically become even a moderately winner, I'd say keep playing but at least find a part time job to pay the bills. Free rolls are just flat out not a good indicator of poker prowess. Get a job, play on your days off and use it as a hobby with the goal of learning and one day playing full time.

We all have the dream, and it's definitely something to aim at, but you don't want to just sacrifice your life because you won two free rolls dude.

Ive only played in MTT's. Am I crazy or is it really possible to get rich playing poker. People think Im crazy. Am I being unrealistic?
Yes you are being unrealistic

If your grades are as good as you say then I suggest that you run....don't walk, run back to college.

You're definitely being unrealistic. 100%.
Other users have made great comments about why you're not going to pay your bills playing poker so my post will focus on you and your perspective on life. The fact you're actually asking the internet for advice is a terrible sign of irresponsibility.

If everyone you know and trust is telling you something and you're the only one who doesn't see it that should be a very clear indication that you're the one who is wrong not everyone else.

You need to be responsible and go back to school or if you cant cut it or don't want to you need to learn a trade so you have a reliable way to make a living. Looking for the easy way in life is not how most wealthy people become successful.

Go back to school or get a job, don't waste your money trying to make it big playing poker or buying lotto tickets(you seem like the type). Keep playing the game by all means and learn as you go but it sounds to me you are trying to go all-in with your future with 72o. Read some of the bad beat stories on this forum or any forum what happens when you go all in with aces and get cracked by trips or a flush using your rent money?

I probably shouldn't touch this topic with a ten foot pole. Ah what the heck. I only have one question for you. What is more important, your girlfriend or poker?

You will be spending more time at the tables than you will be with her. Just make sure you both are aware of this if you are going to actually try it out for 6-8 months and see where you end up both together in the relationship as well as financially. But i do like always having a standard part time job that gives me benefits both health, dental, and 401k match. I am guaranteed 24hrs of work every week and play poker. This may not work for everybody but have found this is a perfect mixture for me. I typically play about 20-24 hours a week and work about 25 hours a week. So average work week including poker is about 45 hrs every week- seems standard enough.

I saw a lot of different views
By the way, you can work in different directions, not only like poker gamer
You can make your platform about poker reviews, poker forum e.t.c.
You can find profit everywhere in this industry)
I saw some new projects about online gambling and few days ago I found holymolycasinos.com
I'm not really understand how they pick up money, but I saw big different between casinos and reviews. So I think it one of direction to start earn money from your hobby)

65000 players and 9 make it to the final table....
it's a long way to the top and it has some ups and lots of downs...
Take 25% of your winnings apart to send your girlfriend to a Spa and play just halftime.

friend, being a poker professional is a very difficult and dangerous way, because it is a very expensive game and you do not always have a return on your investment and this for those who do not have balance can even be fatal in some cases. think carefully.

No if 99 percent of the people who played poker depended on that alone to pay all their living expenses they would all end up homeless living under a bridge.
This happens all day long in poker:D

Get another job and try to not spend more than 10 percent of your income would be my advice until you win a huge tournament 100k plus which is a long shot but not impossible heck keep buying lottery tickets too without hope we have nothing good luck.:)

I am just mad, like really what kind of question is this, Poker or Girlfriend? How are they connected,If you were occupied with photography or drawng or football does the same thing happen? It makes zero sense. Op Yourself is more important, set your goals and follow them, if you have to ask this question on the Forum it just means that you are not ready yet.Poker is my shot to make my life what it could never be without it, give the situation that i am at right now. They think you crazy yeah, it will be surreal for you to see how they change once you get a 6 figure bankroll.

Poker is one of the types of work.In college you may not like it, but he can give you the opportunity to have food and other things! First place from several freerolls? Have you tried a higher level than freerolls?

Poker is one of the hardest things I've ever practiced! You think you can handle this load, not everyone can play poker!? If you are as good as you say, why do not you show your girlfriend that poker is a real job? And you can feed your family with poker profits!( If you start borrowing money (sales, theft ...) to play poker, that means you're not good at that!) You have to keep in mind!

You follow my thoughts, right? Can you do it ?

People can think what they want, everyone has a head between their shoulders.

Are you unrealistic? You have to answer this question yourself ...

...... but I will share something else with you, young man ... even and the rich people crying!:)

I wish you all the best, young man!

Success!
