This is a very common thing in certain situations.
Thinking it would be hard to find someone who has never folded such a hand.

I gotta say, I have done this a rare couple of times in poker tournaments, only because I'm so close to being paid in the tournament that I don't want to risk losing to a subpar hand. Anyone else done this? Or if you haven't, what was the toughest fold you made in a game pre-flop?
if not afraid to lose, then always go allin

I have found myself folding AK preflop few times. Rarely, but surely that situations can happen.

Well, it could happen. It will involve a player I know is tight reraising another player I know is tight.

Sure, it depends a lot on the situation.

Sometimes

I will sometimes fold AK if I am short-stacked up against a big stack, and want to try and get a better hand for all-in

AK is no guarantee of victory, as are other strong hands like AA, KK, etc...
Every hand should be played with caution, especially if you are close to the bubble, after hours of playing a tournament you don't want to fall close to the money, so be patient and carefully analyze which will be the best move. Good luck to everyone at the tables.

being a freeroll, we go all-in, even with A2.

It depends. There is a lot more to poker than deciding if you will fold AK pre-flop.
Do the course then think again about the question.

I've folded queens pre-flop. AK is a great hand but if you miss the flop...

I WOULD FOLD IT AGAINST 2 OR MORE ALL INS. AGAINST AN EARLY POSITION RAISE AND ANOTHER ALL IN. ESPECIALLY IF THERE WERE BUBBLE OR ICM CONSIDERATIONS.

He has already given up several times AK pre flop, many times the opponent makes it very clear to his hands that he has and it is easy to read and see that he has a pair in his hand, there is no way to call an all in Saturday he is losing

Yes, I sometimes fold such a combination as an ace with a king on the preflop. But I reset it solely on the tip of intuition. For me, there are no strong combinations of cards on the preflop. How strong was the combination of pocket cards - I can estimate only after the distribution.

Pretty much any time I got over 75 BB's and no reason to risk it
I will lay it down if facing too much action.
Sometimes even when I have less if the average number of BB's
in the tournament is not high and my position is in the top
also laying AK down.

There are more than a few situations that I would fold AK pre-flop. The easiest place would be in a tourney where they pay the top 20 as an example. If I had enough chips to feel like I could easily make the top 20, I would fold them. If there are too many players in the action already, you could guess that at least one player has strong pocket pairs.

It's not an AA and I've folded AK a few times. It depends on what position I'm in and what kind of player I'm playing against. If someone goes all in before me, it's 50/50 whether to call depending on how much it costs me and so on. I know that some think AK is a must all-in, but there are only 2 high cards and you haven't won anything with them. There is also a difference between playing a freeroll, regular or cash game

We folded only in case there were several players already involved with a lot of money in the preflop hand, and of course it also mattered what phase of the tournament, or what kind of game you play. The question is good, but it's clear that the answer is more complete. each with his own math and style of play

if several players are exposed, then you can reset and there is nothing wrong with that, remember where AA or KK were opened against your AK
