I learn mainly about poker by watching the WPT on Challenge of a lunchtime (it used to be shown at 12pm) and then started to look at it online. I played the free SnG's and the Play Money for a while then started to play real money.

I first learnt how to play Omaha and 7Card Stud by watching last years wsop and then leaning by watching the people play online

Started playing with friends in school. It was a better way to learn than TV. However, thank the TV networks for offering the quality education that has spawned all the "New Professionals" out there.

I started playing when i was around 12 with my grandfather... he made a living playing poker for about 2 or 3 years so I was around it a good bit... he taught me the game at a young age which gave me plenty of time to develop my skill.... and i'm thanking him now that i can play real money

I still consider myself a newbie into the game, but I feel like I'm getting better by the day

Hi everyone!! I learned to play from my ex-husband almost 20 years ago when I was living in Atlantic City working as a cashier at a casino. I started with 7 card stud, and just recently learned Texas Holdem and enjoy it very much.

Funnily enough, I learnt to play online, using a tutorial I found on holdempoker.com quite a while ago... since then I've progressed from playing with play money chips onto real money.... also playing some games for some decent money with friends. How about you? Where did you learn?
I have learned only from playing online for about a year and watching on TV. I love it but need some help... I hope to find that on your site

playing with friends
i started with play money as well - i think this can seriously hurt your game in the short term

problem being is that you spend a few weeks playing the play tables your brain starts to think that you need to play that loose to win - and obviously when you actually start playing the cash tables you get your ass kicked;)
id always reccomend new players to hit the 1 cent tables if they were really wanted to learn the game

I learned to play poker from the WSOP and WPT on television! I had no idea what poker was until that was previewed on television. I watched it a few times then became addicted!

the best way to learn how to play is to just play, you can understand what types of hands come up more often in omaha and 7 card stud and hold em and what it ussually takes to win. but to get the skill you have to play with money on the line were people play like there is omething to lose
