I learned by watching my parents little weekend nickel dime games.I grew up seeing this every weekend during the winters.I can remember shuffling the cards for them when I was really young. But once I was old enough to play I played.Eventually wondered online and began playing and am now hooked.I still play small local games also.

My little brother

introduced me to the game two and half years ago. I have since read lots of full titl pros advice via email on how to play and also just tried to get as much experience as I could from watching and playing low limit games. These forums are helpful too because they give you some new ways of thinking and also insight into the mainstream way of playing certain hands. Always have to try and stay ahead of the curve.

My poker inspiration is Gus Hansen. When I saw him on TV playing very aggressively in a very pro way, I thought that I want to play like him. I figured out the rules by watching a lot of WPT programs and surfing the net to verify my understanding. I started playing with my friends and family members. Now, I am looking forward for the completion of my click2pay registration so I can play online for real money.

A friend of mine tricked me into it. I'm not a gambler - I've never even bought a lottery ticket or donated any money to a casino other than a bit of loose change while passing through. I think he saw Texas Holdem on TV and talked me and a few other people into a friendly $10 home tournament. We figured things out together. I read a few articles online and such but didn't get into it too deeply.

Later he talked me into entering a $10 tournament at a local casino. I was making good money at the time and had no money worries, but I was seriously freaked out about losing that $10!! I'd just never even considered gambling before. After I was in the tournament I found out it was actually a $20 rebuy tournament where you could do a half buyin for $10. If I had known that before I bought in I would have never gone. Somehow I stumbled into the money with the initial $10 plus an add-on later on. I got into the money again the following week and became hooked. I did a little reading but mostly I watched what other players did at the table. The last few weeks I've been doing some serious reading and lots of $.05/$.10 online ring games trying to tighten up my game.

Pitch is actually a game separate from poker with very different rules.

Don't believe I said it was a poker game. And yes, I learned to play it, too. Haven't played it in years. Tried to teach it to my kids, but they just didn't "get" it.

I first go into poker by stumbling across it in 03...the year of Moneymaker. started watching, and started playing on Partypoker with just about the restof the world lol. but i never really watched a tutorial, i just basically taught myself how to play. At first ill admit i sucked and would play just about ATC, not really raising much, but i'd draw to the bitter end. it was pretty bad lol, but over time i basically taught myself the bad hands and when to and not to draw. when to fold, howmuch time to take, how to bluff, when to bluff, how much to raise, when to call an all in. and now ive got most of it down. just a few more things im working on lately and i will be set, is how to play position, calling with pot odds, and disecting my opponents. with all that, i know ill be a much better player than i am now. and thts my story of learning poker lol

--- watching the WSOP more also helped a lot, sorry thought i mentioned that before

Learnt the basics by watching Hold’em on TV. Started playing on-line about nine months ago. Read a few books and checked out online strategy articles as well. Still learning, but improving.

I like Stud Hi-Lo, Razz, Omaha Hi and Omaha Hi-Lo best. All games I did not know existed, until I stated playing online

I started playing the summer before senior year of high school. I was soooo bad, I didn't understand why my friends kept folding pre-flop when I wanted to play every hand I was dealt :icon_scra

i never really learned how to play until a year later when I started to play online at Pokerroom.com, and now FullTilt and pokerstars

I became interested in poker after watching it on TV, like many folks, I'm sure. I got a couple of books on the subject and the next time my buddies and I went to Vegas to play craps, I played some 3/6 LHE at the Sahara (we were staying there. I played for about 3 hours, won a whopping $80, and was hooked.

I lived in Tucson at the time and started going to the local Indian casinos for about a year and a half, then moved to NoVa, where I play in a local game with occasional day trips to Atlantic City. I've messed with online some, but it is really not my bag right now.
