I think that the real Question should be are you addicted to Gambling. because if you are then that is your Weakness so really they are the same thing.
Am I addicted to Gambling Most definitely NOT!
Am I addicted to Poker YES! I have to admit I am.
What the difference is that in Gambling you have to Invest your own money to try and win more money, which I rarely do. Sure I have had Days out at the Racecourse Gambling on the horses. But I manage the amount of money I am willing to lose. I have 2 lots of money on me, one for expenses, meals and drinks etc. and a 2nd bank-roll for the horses I am going to wager on.
The 2 never meet, and If at the end of the day I have lost my 2nd
bankroll then I have achieved what I intended and that was having a fun day out at the races. I consider that money well spent. If I return with any money in my stake pocket then that in itself is a bonus, and of course if I have more money than I started the day with I have had a brilliant day out.
Poker for me though is not Gambling, If I play on-line I am playing with money I have already won from Free-rolls and people who I have played against in SnGs. If I have never deposited any cash, how can it be considered gambling when my money is safe at home or in the bank.
I have on occasion visited Casino's and bought into Tournaments, But the same rule applies to a Casino as it does with the Horses, I have 2 pocket's of cash and one is for the
poker game the other for expenses, the 2 never mix and I consider the buy-in, the price the I pay for a days entertainment. Just as I would pay to enter a Cinema or a Show at my local Theatre. You have to keep it FUN!
When the fun Stops, STOP!
