Tournament versus Cashgame

Although I like to play tournaments, lately I am choosing the cash game because it gives me more freedom in terms of schedules and I can stop playing at any time. Tournaments require several hours of play, I understand that the variance is greater than in cash games and in micro-limits, unless one reaches the final table, the money is insignificant.

Easy for me to answer, Tournaments. I just really suck playing cash games. Every once in awhile I'll go try a cash game and nothing has change, still suck at it.

I might repeat myself, write what my colleagues wrote before. But I also think tournaments are better than cash games. The risk of losing more money once is higher at the cash game.

distance tournaments will give more +, but in cash games you can finish the game at any time and go do your own thing

There’s definitely more of a skill of going to the river with cash games. I still haven’t mastered it. With that said, I enjoy my MTTs.

I would definitely play tournaments. For me cash games are boring, yeah, cash games might be more profitable and less stressful to play, but I like excitement of MTT's, I just watch the prize for the 1 place and it extremely motivates me😊

I def prefer cash games over tournaments. I don't like going deep in a tourney and getting either a pittance or busting. I do play them because it does give you a better opportunity to bink a large score. But I prefer to reload if someone sucks out and isn't very good.

I play both tournaments and I play cash, but the tournaments are more exciting in each stage of it, the level increases and you control more your game and that of your rivals

Regardless if you prefer Cash or Tournaments its important to adapt to the style of play. Some Cash players are horrible tournament players and vice versa. Tournaments are generally a better place for you to learn the game with a smaller outlay of $$. If you are new to cash i would start at the lower stake tables.

Depends on if I'm playing live poker or online. Live poker I like to play in a cash game. Online I like to play in a Tournament.

Tourney vs Cash Game

We all have varied reasons as to why we choose one type of game as opposed to another. I love tournaments. Yes, the money, I believe, is better than cash games; be it on-line or at casino tables. Intimidation many times plays a big factor; is my cash flow enough, I'll be broke and won't have money for tourney, etc.,etc. The thing is, however, I have lost on a tourney before and "tilting" (kind of sorta like maybe) I jumped on a cash game. I barely had enough to enter so, I was now also intimidated by that fact. Called the blind bet with 7 - 4 unsuited. Miraculously, no one raised and to my amazement two 7's and a 4 jumped out there on the flop. Then someone went all in and then another; I was scared and called. And won! I ended playing just a few more hands, that I did win and left the table with a very, very good cash bank. So, Cash games are my go to games and I play them when I have an hour or so, before tourney.
