Hello friends!
I would like you to tell me what you like more: tournament or cashgame.
I particularly prefer to play tournaments because in them we have greater control of the money will be invested. However, cashgame we are free to come and go any time you want. Already in the tournament we were stuck for long periods.
What do you think?

As you say, there are pros and cons of both formats. Tournaments are exciting, when you run deep, because then there is huge upside potential depending on the field size. But tournaments are also frustrating, when you run bad and fail to cash 30 times in a row. Or when you play for 3 hours only to bust on the bubble or score a relatively pointless min-cash. Cash games give flexibility, and you can table select. But they are also very much “production line poker”. Its the same spots over and over again, so after a while its easy to lose motivation.

What I love about tournaments is that they have a punchline; the blinds keep going up and they play to a winner. Cash feels to me comparatively static with the same blinds and no climax.

With that said, cash games tend to play out with deeper stacks and there's a lot more complexity and creativity to deep-stacked play. So all respect to those who grind the cash games!

I like tournaments, I don't play cash much because I am not very good and in tournaments I get more benefit in terms of money, in what you feel comfortable is what you should play the most:driver::driver::driver::driver:

I think you're absolutely right, in cash tournaments I can't control the amount of money I spend, in fact sometimes if you don't control yourself you can spend your entire bankroll. I personally also prefer tournaments, but more than money, it is because I think they are more competitive and I love that, I love that suspense and that vibrates when you are about to hit the bubble, once in the prizes, I love to challenge myself to see how far I get. Regards

Cache is chosen by those who value their time. You spend as much time on the game as you plan. In tournaments you cannot afford this, you are simply attached to them.

Cash game is gradually earning money. In a sense of getting small return over longer period of time. And tournaments its much higher return. Well there is multi table play and it can give you much more if you can handle it and if you re good at cash games. I prefer tournaments simply because i know it better than cash games and i am better at them. Also more fun for me.

Hello! I prefer tournaments, because I feel more adrenaline and you can live very good moments with great emotions when you achieve good results, that in cashgame you will never live them and maybe you do not live them out of poker in any other activity you do. Also in any tournament that you register you will start playing on equal terms with the other players, it is very gratifying to be able to face good players from higher levels that you admire at some point. GOOD LUCK!!

Yep, very well said, and I especially like what you said about deepstack cash games.

From my perspective, where I play the game cause I seriously love playing it, and where money isn't the first and major goal - tournaments are so much better. For some small-ish amount of money, you can play long sessions, and I don't really see that happening in cash games. Also, I find it easier to make great moves (hero calls/folds, bluffs) in MTTs cause of all the ICM pressure, payjumps, big stack power plays etc.

Regardless, I mostly do play live cash games, as I found the field to be much fishier, easier to get the money. Lot of rebuys early on, lot of bad shoves etc. Another reason for playing more cash games, is the structure of most tournaments these days - unlimited rebuys for a period of time (most are like that where I play) but at least 2 rebuys per tournament. After the rebuy period ends, there is the add on and all of that really screws up the game for me.

I like to play tournaments rather than cash game as they are much more interesting for me. And in tournament poker, I play much better.

Definitely tournaments for me. Cash games allow everybody to wait for good hands because there are no increasing blinds to force them to play. This allows serious amount of bad beats. Waiting for good hand on one or more cash tables is boring for me. Also you can easily loose all your money earned with hours of play in single hand. Tournaments on the other hand are less risky (at most you can loose your buyin) and also much more interesting for me.

The requirement for a tournament is a lot of time, but only in case of success. There is no guarantee for profit. You can play disciplined for hours and in worst case you could bubble with one hand. While playing a cash game session you make profit with each hand you win.

I prefer tournaments because my performance is very bad in cash games.
Also tournaments give you bigger price pool but it is very frustrating to finish after 5 hours of play with 5 times your investment (everybody wants to be winner :))

Both of formats has its advantages and disadvantages. I think everyone should choose for himself which of the advantages are more important for him
