Respect for other players?

But of course you have to respect others, not just at the poker tables but in general. Just because you are at war, trying to take each other's money at the table; does not mean you can't respect your poker fellows. Now, if some player is talking trash and de-respecting others; then I understand not to have any respect for that particular individual. But overall you should treat others with respect if you want to be treated the same.

I think you might be confusing respect, with being kind, and empathetic....

If you dont respect outers at the table, especially if they are as good or better then you. You will typically be the one losing....

If you are too kind, and empathetic to players that are not as good as you. You are not achieving the goal of the game, which is to take all the chips at the table.

When I play live, of course I respect all the people at the table.In online poker everything is a little different, there I think only about players chips,there is of course an exception, but it happens rarely, basically the predator's instinct takes its

Well of course we are all there to win!! But I like to talk to other players if they are friendly. Some speak different languages that I can't understand though. You will always run in to rude people however. I just ignore them.

Yeah, I typically respect everyone... unless I feel like disrespecting someone slightly would put them on crazy tilt. It's all part of the mental game I suppose.

Respect at the table during the game is very important for sure, and should be practiced. Of course there are normal provocations. A boring thing has already happened to me and you must have seen it in soccer stadiums with Brazilians, I was called a monkey. I reacted with good humor and asked: Do you dream about monkeys?

I am not respecting them, I am disrespecting anyone, but the bottim line is, I want their money or chips! After I get the money or win the MTT we can go have a drink together.

its just strange how poker can make you become so much more aware about how you are as a human? though from other people around you , you can just be a robot glued to a device screen thinking up ways to out do your opponents.

hope this post isnt too boring or off topicish

but for me its still part of the journey of self-discovery in order to help me grow as a person aswell as build character as a player

When I play poker, whether live or online, I am respectful and courteous to the other players. With that said, I do view them as the enemy and I am looking to take every last chip they have. I do not care if they have gas money to get home from the casino. They are adults and have made the decision to play. The risks they assume and the negative outcomes are solely on them. I never feel pity for an opponent at the table.
